James Van Der Beek may soon be joining fellow “Dawson’s Creek” alum Joshua Jackson with a recurring role on primetime television.

While Jackson continues his starring turn in Fox’s “Fringe,” Van Der Beek has signed on to the network’s dramedy pilot “Eva Adams.”

The hour-long project revolves around Adam, a self-centred and sexist sports agent who gets a healthy dose of comeuppance when a witch’s spell turns him into a woman. Now, he must deal with the same kind of shabby treatment he used to dole out.

Van Der Beek will play Connor, a former frat boy who is a colleague and good friend of Adam’s.

David Denman, who played Pam’s ex-fiance Roy on “The Office,” has also joined the cast. He will play Paul, a still-recovering divorcee and single dad who works at the sports firm alongside Adam and Connor.

Adam/Eva has yet to be cast.

“Mean Girls” helmer Mark Waters will direct the pilot, which was written by executive producer Kevin Falls (“Journeyman”).

The project is based on the hit Argentinean telenovela “Lalola.”

Van Der Beek has followed up his work on “Creek” with guest appearances on such shows as “Criminal Minds” and “Ugly Betty.” His movie credits include “Varsity Blues” and “The Rules of Attraction.”
