Near, far, wherever you are, you will be able to watch the loveliness of Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as they play out the heartbreaking romance of Jack and Rose in 3D this April!
The trailer for James Cameron’s brilliant masterpiece in 3D, highlights the some of the movie’s most classic scenes. The film was originally released in 1997, and has grossed $600 million to date. 600 Milion!! I don’t know about you all, but seeing one of my favourite 90′s movies in 3D on the big screen might just be the greatest thing that happens next Spring. Okay, not the greatest, but definitely close!
Check out the trailer for Titanic 3D below.
‘Titanic’ is coming back to theatres – in 3-D.
The boat tragedy, which stars a young Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, will be re-released by Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox in a new 3-D format.
James Cameron’s Oscar-winning film will be rereleased April 6 of next year to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the Titanic setting sail on April 10.
Cameron says the film was “painstakingly” converted to 3-D and promises “an epic experience.”
Released in 1997, “Titanic” won 11 Academy Awards and grossed more than $1.8 billion worldwide.
Is it me or does the thought of exploiting so many deaths for a “epic” 3-D experience sound so bad? Sure, it would probably have some cool effects, but do we really need to see people hitting propellors in 3-D picture? That James Cameron, he’ll do anything for a buck.
Valentines Day 2012 won’t be a lonely one for Star Wars fans. Fox and Lucasfilm have confirmed the saga’s first 3D-converted instalment will be released on February 10, 2012. And it will all start with the adventures of Jar Jar Binks…
Following the re-release of ‘Star Wars I – The Phantom Menace’ in 2012, the other five parts will be annually released in numerical order. By avoiding release during the summer blockbuster season, Lucas and friends will definitely take the opportunity to reprise the merchandising franchise of Star Wars memorabilia. Fingers crossed for a re-release of the aluminum lunch pails.
There has been an unsurprising whiplash of criticism over the 3D conversions and the studio said in a statement that the films were “supervised by Industrial Light & Magic, the meticulous conversion is being done with utmost respect for source material and with a keen eye for both technological considerations and artistic intentions.”
According to the L.A. Times, there will be a string of 3D re-releases in 2012. Those include James Cameron’s ‘Titanic’ that will sail into theatres in April.

James Cameron
It looks like the next Avatar movie may see the light of day as early as 2014!
Cameron is in the process of writing the next two movies and reports that he is “planning to shoot them together and post them together.” This means both movies will be done at the same time, but their releases will be staggered for around Christmas 2014 and 2015.
Cameron also divulged that all of the characters from the first movie would most likely appear in the upcoming films. “Basically, if you survived the first film, you get to be in the second film, at least in some form,” he explained.
Fox has partnered with the director to donate a large chunk of the movie’s profits to environmental causes.
The first film was basically the plot of Pocahontas, so we can’t wait to see what Disney movie Cameron rips off next! We’ve got our fingers crossed for a blue-ified High School Musical or Old Yeller!
Renowned director James Cameron who’s film, Avatar, broke world records, has announced that Avatar 2 and 3 will be his next projects. The second and third of the trilogy will be shot back to back for a December 2014 and December 2015 release.
According to deadline.com, 20th Century Fox made a “huge” donation to Cameron’s green fund which propelled Cameron to move forward with the projects. It seems like the films are in Cameron’s best interest due to Avatar’s wide success in the box office as well as its success in the Academy Awards. Avatar is the highest grossing film in the history of cinema, it is no wonder why Cameron’s producers are pushing the project.
However, this also means that Cameron’s most recent project for Sony Pictures, Cleopatra, starring Angelina Jolie, will have to be put on hold.
Again, the new Avatar films will employ the 3D and CGI technology that Cameron and his team produced for the first film.
This is exciting news for Avatar fans and maybe not so exciting for filmmakers trying to compete with Cameron. That’s showbiz.
Are the Black Eyed Peas and James Cameron working… together?
Will.i.am seems to think so, reports VIBE. The BEP member and mega producer says that James Cameron (Avatar) will direct a new Black Eyed Peas 3D movie based around their world tour.
As of this time there’s no official confirmation, but Will.i.am tells VIBE that it’s going to happen.
“Right now we are planning our 3-D tour movie and James Cameron is directing it,” he says. “We have the biggest director because we are the biggest group on the planet. The Peas are filming it in South America. People will be able to see us in the theatre with the 3-D glasses and everything.”
“There will be a storyline that [Cameron] came up with, which will be dope,” says Will.i.am. “It’s a full-length film and it’s based around our tour activities,” continuing, “we want to go across the planet.”
Even though recent reports indicated that Fergie and Will.i.Am were in the middle of a big feud, Will.i.am claims that everything is fine, and they’re ready to focus on what’s next for the group.
The frontman says, “Fergie wants to do another solo record, so of course we are going to do that,” adding, “but right now we are focused on the Peas—our world tour and the movie.”
“Titanic” didn’t get a sequel, but Canadian writer/director James Cameron talks of a sequel for his monster 3-D box-office hit “Avatar”. MTV News reports that earlier this month News Corp’s bigwig Rupert Murdoach announced that Fox had “very early talks” about a sequel. Avatar became the highest-grossing movie in the U.S. box-office history, beating out “Titanic”, another James Cameron directed film.
Cameron told MTV News that there are still a few kinks that need to be smoothed out before complete commitment to a sequel of the sci-fi love story.
“I’ve got some deal hurdles I got to get over with the studio before I want to emotionally embrace that,” said Cameron.
That being said, fans can still get ready for more of the world of Pandora. Cameron declined to talk about what obstacles stood in the way, not compensation-related, he assured, but said all parties involved in making the film expect a deal to be signed eventually.
“[Sequel details have] never properly been worked out, let me put it that way,” he said. “But everyone’s highly motivated. Rupert Murdoch told us we were doing it, so now they have to make a deal.”
Avatar has done it! Avatar hit $1.29 Billion at the international box office. The movie beat James Cameron’s other film Titanic, which was previously the highest grossing film, which was at $1.24 Billion.
The studio is estimating by the end of the weekend, the box office tally should be $1.848 Billion, making it the Earth’s biggest money maker of all time.
The 2-D version of James Cameron’s science-fiction blockbuster hit Avatar is being pulled from Chinese theatres, reports CBC.ca.
The 3-D and IMAX versions of the movie will continue to be shown in theatres. All versions of the movie had originally been scheduled to run into mid-February. The 2-D version is more popular because it costs less money to go see.
China Film Group, the country’s state-run film distributor, confirmed that it is ordering the 2-D Avatar off screens by Saturday (Jan. 23). It is said to be doing so at the request of the censorship authority.
While no specific reason for the Chinese censor has been given, the pulling coincides with this week’s release of the highly anticipated biopic of Confucius, played by Asian superstar Chow Yun-fat, which opens Thursday (Jan. 21). The film about the famous philosopher was backed by the Chinese government.

This movie just can’t be stopped. E! Online confirms that Avatar has now brought in $1.14 billion worldwide, making it the second highest grossing film of all time. And now some are suggesting if the movie continues this pace, it could knock out James Cameron’s other film Titanic which is the highest grossing film of all time at $1.8 billion globally.
James Cameron is a man that you should not bet against. From Titanic to Terminator, the man knows how to make movies, and more importantly for Hollywood, make money. Avatar has grossed over $1 Billion worldwide, one of only five films throughout history to do so.
Examiner.com tried to figure out why the film has not lost any momentum. So they spoke with Bert Livingston from 20th Century Fox who provided a theory. “It’s like a runaway freight train. It just keeps doing business,” Livingston said. “Here’s what’s happening: I think everybody has to see ‘Avatar’ once. Even people who don’t normally go to the movies, they’ve heard about it and are saying ‘I have to see it.’ Then there’s those people seeing it multiple times.”
Hollywood is ringing in this Christmas with it’s biggest box office weekend in history – grossing $278 million over the last three days. This tally beats the record set in July 2008 at $260.8 million when The Dark Knight was released.
Avatar, the latest James Cameron 3D epic, led the pack over the weekend, bringing in $75 million. So far, Avatar has grossed $212.3 million this weekend.
“What a weekend,” Bert Livingston of 20th Century Fox, which released Avatar, told USA Today. “I don’t ever remember that big a diversity. When the third picture does $50 million, you’ve got a good marketplace. When Christmas Day falls on a Friday, it’s the best day it could possibly be.”
Guy Ritchie grabbed runner up with Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law and Rachel McAdams, which raked in a total of $65.4 million. Sherlock Holmes broke a Christmas Day box office record, grossing $24.9 million on its Christmas Day opening. (more…)
As reported a couple of days ago with TMZ video, James Cameron can be a nasty prick sometimes. This was clearly evident in the video footage where James Cameron refused to sign an autograph for a fan. Now there maybe more to the story than what was on the video, but James really looked bad. However in an interview with a LA Morning show, James Cameron explains that he will sign an autograph for any fan. See below for the video:
We really hope James Cameron was just having a bad day and he is not a huge prick like this normally. A TMZ cameraman caught Cameron and a fan in a war of words after Cameron refused to sign an autograph. From what the video is showing, we are siding with the fan. James Cameron you fail.

Canadian directors James Cameron and Jason Reitman both been nominated for best director and best picture.
Cameron, the Oscar-winning veteran director of Titanic, is nominated for his work on Avatar. The epic science-fiction thriller was not even been publicly released yet and it is already receiving immense critical acclaim.
Reitman, a rising star in Hollywood, directed 2007’s Juno and 2006’s Thank You for Smoking. His newest release, Up in the Air, stars George Clooney (nominated for best actor in a motion picture, drama), and its dialogue and humour have captured the interest of thousands already.
Alongside the Canadians are veteran directors Clint Eastwood and Quentin Tarantino for Invictus and Inglorious Bastards. The two movies are up for best picture, along with several nominations for best acting awards.
The trailer for the upcoming film, “Avatar,” is now on YouTube. This trailer represents the first movie by James Cameron and Jon Landau since “Titanic” in 1998.
Hollywood producer Landau said Friday he had no doubt that his latest feature with “Titanic” director James Cameron would live up to its billing as the year’s most-anticipated film.
According to Relax News, the 300-million-dollar “Avatar”, packed with computer-generated imagery and 3-D effects, is the pair’s first project together since scooping 11 Oscars in 1998.
The famous pair have certainly put no time limit on their newest project. Landau and Cameron spent the past four-and-a-half years putting the new film together, promising a combination of computer-generated imagery, 3-D effects and live action, the likes of which the world has never seen.
