According to funeral director C.A Reid, the soul legend’s body is still resting in peace in South Carolina, NME.com reports.

Brown’s daughter LaRhonda Pettit claimed that her father’s body had been moved from his grave.

“There’s no truth to that,” C.A Reid, who directed the memorial service for Brown, said to the Augusta Chronicle. “It would have had to have gone through us. We would have been contacted if that happened.”

Pettit considered Brown’s death suspicious because she claims she was denied the opportunity to carry out an autopsy and determine her father’s cause of death.

“This would be a criminal offense,” Reid said to the Augusta Chronicle of Pettit’s claim that Brown’s body was moved. “If this was the case, she would need to talk to police.”

Brown died in 2006 of heart problems.

Pettit has been keeping her father’s body in a crypt at her South Carolina home since December 25, 2006. She was watching over Brown’s body while a mausoleum was being constructed. And now, Pettit says that the body cannot be found.

“My daddy’s body has disappeared,” Pettit said. “I have no clue where it was taken, but I need to know where.”

Pettit believes that someone had moved the body of her father to prevent an autopsy from being conducted. On Christmas Day of 2006, Brown was found dead of an apparent heart attack.

“It was common knowledge daddy took illegal drugs until his death,” Pettit said. “He was also hooked on painkillers. At the very least there were enablers who helped cause his death.”

Now, the strange part. Brown did not recognize Pettit in his will. But Pettit says that Brown had had an affair with her mother in the 1960s. Also, a DNA test found that Pettit was 99.9 per cent likely Brown’s daughter.

More interesting, following the death of the Godfather of Soul, Pettit and 12 other people claimed to be one of Brown’s illegitimate children.

So, is the body missing? You be the judge.

Posted on andPOP:

DNA testing has proved the late funk legend JAMES BROWN fathered one more child – the third such case since his death last year (06).

Dozens of people underwent foolproof DNA analysis after claiming to be the offspring of the late star – and now Brown’s attorney and longtime friend Buddy Dallas confirmed on Monday (20Aug07) one more result came back positive, bringing the total to three.

While Dallas refuses to release any details as other tests are pending, one of the first new-found children LaRhonda Pettit has already gone public with the results of her test – a 99.99 per cent probability she is the soul man’s daughter.

Pettit – the spitting image of the soul legend – claims that Brown picked out her mother from the audience at a Los Angeles gig in the early 1960s, and she soon became the singer’s girlfriend.

Brown died of heart failure aged 73 last year (06). (MEH/WNWA/LJ)

Posted on andPOP:

JAMES BROWN’s widow TOMI RAE HYNIE is contesting the late singer’s will after learning she and her five-year-old son have been cut out.

Hynie, who was a backing singer in Brown’s band, claims her son’s biological father is the soul great – something the singer’s estate disputes.

Hynie had 30 days from Brown’s Christmas Day death to contest the will. Yesterday was the final day she was able to file a motion.

The details of the will were filed on Thursday in Georgia.

The document, which was filed in Aiken County, names six children and calls for many household possessions to be divided among them.

The bequest was signed 10 months before the birth of Brown’s five-year-old son.

Brown died of heart failure in an Atlanta, Georgia hospital on Christmas morning. He was 73.

The Godfather of Soul’s body was moved on Thursday from a guarded, climate-controlled room at his Beech Island, South Carolina home where it had been since December 30.

BUDDY DALLAS, the late star’s estate trustee and longtime counsel, did not say why the body was moved or where it was taken.

No decision has been made on where Brown’s final resting place will be.

Brown died of heart failure on December 25 in Atlanta, Georgia.

His six adult children are planning to put the body in a mausoleum and are considering turning the singer’s home, located near Augusta, Georgia, into a museum that would include his grave.

Family members plan to consult with ELVIS PRESLEY’s family on how they opened Graceland, Presley’s mansion in Memphis, Tennessee, which attracts 600,000 visitors each year.

Posted on andPOP:

JAMES BROWN’s partner TOMI RAE HYNIE and five-year-old child were not named as beneficiaries in his will filed on Thursday in Georgia.

The document, which was filed in Aiken County, names six children and calls for many household possessions to be divided among them.

The bequest was signed 10 months before the birth of Brown’s five-year-old son.

The singer intentionally failed to provide for “any other relatives or persons whether claiming, or to claim, to be an heir of mine or not.”

Brown died of heart failure in an Atlanta hospital on Christmas morning at the age of 73.

According to Brown’s attorney and trustee BUDDY DALLAS, most of the singer’s larger assets are in an irrevocable trust separate from his will.

Brown’s body remains sealed in a gold casket in a temperature-controlled room at this home awaiting burial.

Hynie’s attorney, ROBERT ROSEN, said on Wednesday he will sue and ask a court to rule Hynie was legally married Brown and is entitled to half his estate.

Posted on andPOP:

Spike Lee is set to direct a James Brown biopic.

Reuters is reporting that Lee signed on to the authorized biopic, which will be released by Paramount Pictures. Production will likely start in 2008.

The late Brown, who died on Monday of congestive heart failure, will follow other music biopics like “Ray” – about Ray Charles – and “Walk the Line” – about Johnny Cash, which have been released in recent years.

According to Daily Variety, Brown was aware before his death of a possible biopic and granted authorization to the use of his music for the project before his death. Brian Grazer (“A Beautiful Mind”) is set to produce the film.

“Like everybody, I was surprised and saddened that James Brown died. Having known him well, and after spending lots of time with him and researching his life, it’s somehow not surprising that he died on Christmas Day. He was the ultimate showman, all the way to the end,” Grazer said.

Posted on andPOP:

The Godfather of Soul, James Brown, has died at age 73, his agent said early Monday morning.

Brown was hospitalized on Sunday in Atlanta with pneumonia. He died around 1:45 a.m. on Christmas Day, his agent Frank Copsidas said.

Capsidas said the cause of death is not yet known, though added it appears he died of heart failure. Brown showed signs of illness during a routine visit to the dentist and was sent to hospital.

While in hospital, his agent said that he expected Brown to return to his concert schedule as soon as next weekend.

Brown was scheduled to perform two shows on New Year’s Eve at the B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in New York City. According to CNN, he was going to perform a song for the news station’s New Year’s countdown broadcast.

He also had a nine-date Canadian tour planned for the first two weeks of January, followed by shows in California in February and a European tour this summer.

His longtime friend and manager, Charles Bobbit, was by his side according to reports.

Brown has entertained crowds for over 50 years with his unique sounds, a mix of funk, R&B, gospel and, of course, soul, the genre he claimed he invented.

Brown is best known for his hits “I Got You (I Feel Good),” “(Get Up I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine,” and “Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag.”

CNN reports that Brown, 73, was taken to an Atlanta hospital over the weekend. His agent, Super Frank, says that he is not in intensive care.

The singer was forced to cancel shows in Conneticut and New Jersey that had been scheduled for this week. He is, however, expected to return to touring in time for another show in New Jersey on Saturday.

Brown is scheduled to perform on New Year’s Eve at the B.B. King Blues Club & Grill and has a Canadian tour planned for January.
