British singer JAMES BLUNT was once so addicted to online auction site eBay he sold his sister.

The You’re Beautiful hitmaker came home one time to find his sister Emily crying because she couldn’t get to a funeral in Ireland in time.

So Blunt came upon the idea of putting her up for auction in the hope of finding someone who could help her get to the funeral. And his ploy worked – Emily is now getting married to the man who ‘bought’ her.

He explains, “I came back to the flat where my sister was staying and she was crying because she couldn’t get to a funeral in Ireland. The planes were on strike, the ferry was out of season, and there were no trains.

“I ended up whacking it on eBay: ‘Damsel in distress seeks knight in shining armour! Desperate to get to a funeral in southern Ireland, please help!’ The bids flooded in and the guy who won had a helicopter.

“He flew her to the funeral. That was three years ago. This summer they’re getting married.

“That was the stupidest thing I’ve ever sold on eBay – my sister.” (MEH/WNTST/LJ)

Los Angeles police officials have opened an investigation into an incident after a pre-Oscars party in Hollywood in which JAMES BLUNT ran over a man’s foot and then sped off in his car.

The YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL singer and his girlfriend PETRA NEMKOVA were leaving a party at Hollywood agent BRYAN LOURD’s house on Friday night when Blunt drove his black SUV over the leg of an autograph seeker.

And now TMZ.com has learned police are classing the incident as a “hit and run.”

Blunt’s representatives claim the incident happened as the singer was swarmed by paparazzi, adding, “They were invading his space. He was just trying to quietly leave the party.”

A spokesman tells the website that Blunt is “looking into the matter and will co-operate.”

Britain’s Daily Mail is reporting that supermodel Petra Nemcova and singer James Blunt have split.

The report says that Nemcova dumped the “You’re Beautiful” singer after learning he had cheated on her with “numerous” women. The paper also cites a fight the two had during last month’s fashion week in Europe as the “beginning of the end” for the couple.

Sources close to the couple refute the claims saying they are as strong as ever.

“I talked to Petra this morning, and she said they are very much together,” a source said.

British balladeer James Blunt has topped yet another chart this week, this time for the most requested song at funerals and memorial services in the UK.

CBC.com reports that according to a survey released Monday by the Bereavement Register, Blunts song, “Goodbye my Lover,” came in just befor fellow brit Robbie Williams’ hit, “Angels.”

The comes off his bestselling 2005 album Back to Bedlam, which is also responsible for the formidible falsetto’s most popular tune, “You’re Beautiful.”

The Bereavement Registar is a group that works to remove peoples names from mailing databases.

The survay also found that 51 per cent of people have thought about playing aspecific song at their own funeral, and a further 79 per cent of those people habe discussed their choice with family or friends.

The poll looked at 5,000 people and found that, although there were a few classic pieces in the top 20, like “Danny Boy” and “Pie Jesu,” the majority of songs preferred were fairly recent pop tunes.

Two days after Jet sign autographs at a Best Buy location in Toronto, James Blunt will do the same.

Blunt will be signing copies of his DVD “Chasing Time – The Bedlam Sessions” on Tuesday, Oct. 3, from 5:45 p.m. until 7 p.m. Weird time to begin an autograph signing? Yes. But when you get your autograph in the final 15 minutes, you’ll be happy for the bonus time.

It’s all going down at the new Best Buy location (Bay/Dundas) and Blunt will be signing for the first 200 people in line at the store before 5:45.

Blunt will then head over to headline a show at the ACC.

British musician James Blunt has announced a new string of headlining tourdates for North America, including seven stops across Canada.

According to a press release from Atlantic Records, Blunt will kick off the latest leg of his “Back to Bedlam World Tour” in Montreal on October 1. The trek will wrap up with a show in Las Vegas on November 18.

Just like on his last tour of North America, Blunt will be raising money for Doctors Without Borders with these performances. Each night, a one-on-one post-show meeting with Blunt will be auctioned off at the merchandise booth, with proceeds going to the charity.

Blunt is still on the road in support of his debut album, “Back To Bedlam.” The record features hit singles “You’re Beautiful” and “High.”

MySpace is hosting a not-so-secret concert with singer James Blunt.

The free, all-ages concert will take place at New York’s The Cutting Room on May 31.

The concert is on a first come, first served basis, but fans are asked not to line-up before 5 p.m. The doors will open at 7 p.m.

Blunt’s debut CD, Back to Bedlam, features his hit single “You’re Beautiful”.
