Here at ANDPOP we’ve seen a variety of strange instruments being used to cover mainstream songs, but using bottles to play Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” is right up there at the top. Italy’s The Bottle Boys on the streets of Ferrara this past summer, though their YouTube video is just going viral now. I love how the acoustics echo off the old walls of of the village. Previously they’ve done covers of “Gangnam Style” and “Party Rock Anthem,” though there’s a bit of disagreement over how original this particular cover is.
Madonna surprisingly only has one outfit change in her music video for “Turn Up The Radio” and it involves taking off her jacket. The singer leaves her hotel room, bombarded by the flashing lights of photographers. She realizes all she needs to pick up her spirits is a drive through the Italian countryside, where she runs into her fans and a few free spirits she takes along for the ride. Madonna filmed the video in Florence last month. The track is the latest single from her electronic pop album MDNA.

On tonight’s episode of Jersey Shore, best friends Snooki and JWoww have a major clash.
The story is Snooki and her boyfriend Jionni have a fight in Florence, and Snooki goes chasing after him. JWoww attempts to calm her down, but it backfires.
“You’re acting like a f–king asshole” JWoww yells. “He’s running away from you!”
“You’re such a bitch,” Snooki growls, before JWoww screams back at her, “I am a bitch, but I’m giving you a f–king reality check!”
“I hate you!” Snooki erupts before storming off. Soon enough, Snooki is seen lying in the street screaming, sobbing and trying to stand up.

Comedian Ian Lynch (from MTV Canada’s 1 Girl 5 Gays) breaks down the 7th episode of Jersey Shore Season 4. Ian provides commentary of Deena and Snooki hooking up, and Snooki’s car accident with the Italian police.
Snooki is adamant that God is a fan of her chest, despite what an Italian priest said. Her defense is she’s flaunting what God gave her.
In tonight’s episode, a priest asks her to cover up as she walks by a church.
“The priest was like, ‘Cover up when you come to my church,’” Snooki said. “Or, he basically just called me a whore.”
Snooki continues.
“In my church they’d be like, ‘Oh, nice outfit!’” the Oompa Loompa said. “God likes my tits! God made my tits.”
We look forward to watching this tonight!
ilarious comedian Ian Lynch (from MTV Canada’s 1 Girl 5 Gays) breaks down the first episode of the much anticipated fourth season of Jersey Shore. The situation tries to hook up with Snooki, Ronnie gets a hair cut and Dina gets freaky with a fellow cast member.
As we patiently count down the minutes to the start of Season 4 of Jersey Shore in Italy, ABC News went behind the scenes with the cast to get a glimpse of what fans can expect in the upcoming season.
Epic Clash of Cultures
“The Italian men here … are much skinnier, like there’s no Ron’s walking around, and they dress different, like tight clothes and stuff like that,” “Snooki,” a 4′ 9” ball of unintentional comedy and one of the show’s breakout stars, told Connelly.
The language barrier also didn’t help.
“Being one of the single girls here, trying to communicate with [the men] was very difficult,” Deanna said. (She was the only one of the four female cast members who was single while filming in Italy).
So how did she learn to communicate with the locals? Just a few, short phrases were needed.
“Mondo Caldo,” and “Oh, corscioto o ne te te?” “Jersey Shore” translations, per Deanna: “You’re hot,” and “Do you like the boobs?”
Gym-Tan-Laundry, Lite
To the famously fake-tan cast, Italy’s customs made a mockery of their sacred gym-tan-laundry regimen.
“This is all self tanner,” Deena said, pointing to her skin. “This is the palest me and Pauly have ever been.”
“We’re waiting to go back to Jersey to get our nails done,” said Jenni “JWoww.” “The nail salons you have to make an appointment, and it takes about three-and-a-half, four hours to do nails.”
“It’s the little things that you’re like, you don’t appreciate until you come here, like plugging in my blow-dryer,” Pauly said.
No Romancing the Locals
The club scene in Florence threw the party-loving cast slightly out of their comfort zones. The guys said they bypassed the local women almost entirely and spent their time chatting up American tourists.
“I’ll be honest, I brought home, I think one Italian girl, maybe,” “The Situation” said. “It might have been one Italian girl and about 35 Americans, I don’t know.”
Still, most of the tourists weren’t the type that the guys in the cast found attractive at Seaside Heights’ hotspots like Karma.
“It’s not what we’re used to,” Vinnie said. “There’s a lot of college, like Midwestern type of girls here, Middle America. Blonde-haired blue eyes. … It’s just not my thing.”
Artistic Advice
Between working at the local pizza shop, shopping and clubbing, the cast had a little time to take in Florence’s artistic treasures, including the Statue of David. The Michelangelo-crafted, Renaissance-era sculpture of a male standing nude was a favorite of the female cast members.
“I really liked the replica of the David statue,” Snooki said. “We’re like all obsessed with David.”
“Now if the Italian men looked like that, then there’d be a [Situation],” Jenni said.
The crew did have some suggestions to modernize the iconic sculpture.
“I think David needs some gel in his hair,” Pauly said. “I’m just saying…”
“Yeah, I think David could use a hair straightener,” Jenni added.
OK – that was quick. It looks like ‘Jersey Shore’ Season 4 is about to wrap production in Italy, and make its debut on MTV.
MTV has just announced that the season 4 premiere episode of ‘Shore’ will air in a matter of weeks: Aug. 4 (10 p.m., ET). The cast of the show are due back from Italy by the end of the month.
PopEater reports that the cast is due back to work immediately after they return, and start production of Season 5.
Let’s hope Season 5 will be the last Season. It’s time for these morons to end their 15 minutes and get real jobs.
The University of Florida is apparently furious that one of their students partied on camera with the ‘Jersey Shore’ crew. The officials who run the study abroad program in Italy, where the show is being filmed, have reportedly given their student an ultimatum; stay away from the cast or be expelled.
The University of Florida sent out an email to students participating in their study abroad program in Italy, stating that “any student who does agree to participate in the filming of the show, or who signs a waiver or legal agreement of any sort with MTV, will be dismissed from the program immediately.”
The email also warned the students that any action deemed potentially embarrassing to the school “will not be tolerated.” The school threatened to contact the student’s parental units to inform them why the school would be kicking them out of the program.
TMZ spoke with Janine Sikes, UF Director of Public Affairs, who said, “Generally speaking, students may participate in activities outside their Study Abroad program as long as they meet the academic and living requirements of that program.”
I mean, if the show doesn’t mention the university at all, why does it matter? I could understand if they didn’t want the cast and crew on their campus, but what students do on their own time is none of their business.
On the plus side, though, this is probably the closest that Snookie, The Situation or DJ Pauly D will ever get to being connected with academics.
The crew from Seaside Heights, N.J. have landed in Italy, and are ready spread their message of Gym, Tan, and Laundry (GTL).
However there are some concerns about language barriers. No problem, Ronnie Magro ordered Rosetta Stone language software as soon as he heard about the trip to Italy.
“I need to know how to order grilled chicken when I get down there,” he told PEOPLE before they arrived in Italy, where they were greeted by a crowd of fans on Friday. “I can’t have pasta every day!”
Anyways, it will be very interesting to see how this plays out. We are betting the Italians are going to hate the “Jersey Shore” crew, but we will wait and see.
The good people of Italy are getting an extra week of freedom before the “Jersey Shore” crew show up. TMZ is reporting that the “Jersey Shore’s” trip to Italy has been delayed for at least a week.
Early reports say the trip was delayed due to “logistical problems.” This must be disappointing to the cast as they were spotted yesterday getting ready for the big trip.
Oh well!
As previously reported, Woody Allen’s European film adventure will take its next stop in Italy. Penelope Cruz signed onto the project last week, and now the full cast of the film has been revealed.
Perezhilton.com reports that Alec Baldwin, Jesse Eisenberg, and Ellen Page have jumped aboard the Allen train. The film will take place in Rome but all other plot details are being kept very secret.
From the looks of it we can expect a comedy. Most likely Baldwin and Cruz will have some sort of romance and the same goes with Page and Eisenberg. Page and Eisenberg have that natural eccentric chemistry due to their indie credibility.
Hopefully more details will be revealed soon perhaps a menage a trois is in the works a la Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
George Clooney spent some time in Sardinia this week meeting the parents of his current flame, Italian actress Elisabetta Canalis. Radar Online is reporting that the couple spent two days visiting the European island, presumably to make sure their syrupy couple goodness was equally spread over the entire geographical area.
Clooney dedicated a good chunk of the trip to Elisabetta’s hometown to bonding with her family, but he wasn’t shy about spending some…ahem, alone time with his beau at the romantic Hotel Villa Las Tronas.
What can we say? A gentleman knows what he wants and how he wants it.
In all seriousness, the experience must have been a little weird for Canalis’ parents. Georgey is probably closer to their age than their daughter’s! Alas, true love prevails over all, especially in an enduring relationship like this one.
Aww, who are we kidding?! Clooney goes through young, hot women like crazy. At least he treats them well and it’s a mutually understood agreement!
What do you think? Could Clooney meeting the parents mean he’s finally settling down with someone?
RadarOnline.com reports that George Clooney’s girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis has been implicated in a cocaine scandal. The alleged incident happened in two nightclubs in Milan during 2007.
“I remember taking cocaine with Elisabetta Canalis and two others,” Karima Menad, a model-turned-prostitute, told prosecutors in documents obtained by Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, according toUsMagazine.com.
“We were in The Club and it was December 2007,” Menad continued. “We had been at a party of some famous, rich celebrity whose name I cannot remember. I don’t remember who brought the drugs but we all took it.”
The documents continue on in great detail about the incidents.
“Their job was to encourage these customers to drink alcohol as to increase the table’s bill, followed up by sex off premises,” prosecutor Frank Di Maio stated in the documents. “They were often given cocaine for free by those who want to sit at a table of famous people … they want the visibility that comes from being seated at a central table, and to be seen with models, or celebrities from fashion, entertainment and sport.”
Canalis and Clooney weren’t dating during 2007 when this allegedly occurred. One has to believe however George knew what he was getting himself into prior to officially dating Canalis.
It’s safe to say Valentino is considered an emperor to fashion lovers. Even those of us who don’t know the difference in colour between fuchsia and magenta (myself included) can appreciate a man whose successful career in the fashion industry has lasted over 45 years.
Directed and produced by Matt Tyrnauer, Special Correspondent for Vanity Fair magazine, “Valentino: The Last Emperor” gives viewers a candid look at one of the most famous fashion designers, Valentino Clemente Ludovico Garavani (aka Valentino).
One of the first things the famed Italian designer says in the film is “I love beauty, it’s not my fault.” And who can blame him? It turns out Valentino was inspired to become a designer by the stars of the silver screen. After seeing movies starring Hollywood leading ladies like Judy Garland, he set out to make clothes for women. So it would only seem fitting for the designer of the stars to get his own flick on the big screen – and it doesn’t disappoint. Read more…
