Jaime Pressly Accused of Owing Huge Tax Bills

2011 isn’t getting off to a great start for Jaime Pressly. First there was the DUI charge on January 5th, and now the actress is accused of owing a ton of money in back taxes.

The Detroit News is reporting that Pressly owes just over $637,000 in Federal and state taxes. It breaks down like this:

- The IRS filed a $260,370 tax lien against her on December 6.

- A $281,699 lien was filed against her September 8 by the IRS, which was for 2008 income taxes.

- And also the State of California filed a lien in the amount of $95,080 on June 21st.

Here’s the good news. RadarOnline reports that Pressly’s husband is a high profile attorney. So here’s hoping he can pull some strings to save the day.

Nicolas Cage Loses Homes To Tax Troubles

Nicolas Cage has made a LOT of movies, so realistically, he should have enough money in the bank to afford the entire city of New Orleans. But according to People.com, Cage owes $6.3 million in back taxes and now he is blaming it on his business manager.

Samuel J. Levin is now facing a lawsuit from Cage himself, but has not released any statements.

The lawsuit stated Levin “lined his [own] pockets with several million dollars in business management fees while sending Cage down a path toward financial ruin.” Cage is now apparently forced to sell major assets in order to cover the tax liabilities, according to the lawsuit.

His two houses in the French Quarter of New Orleans were auctioned for a collective $4.5 million on Friday, about one-third of their appraised value.

Earlier this year, Cage sold his Bavarian castle to Konrad Wilfurth, a lawyer and his German advisor.

The sale of his New Orleans homes was partially due to Regions Bank’s foreclosure on Hancock Park Real Estate Co., which owns Cage’s properties and now faces $5.5 million in unpaid mortgage debts on them according to People.

This isn’t the only financial trouble Cage has faced, though. The U.S. government placed a tax lien on his real estate holdings after finding $6 million in unpaid taxes from 2007, as well as another $350,000 from 2002-2004 uncovered by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

The Los Angeles Superior Court also received a claim from East West Bank that Cage hadn’t paid a $2 million loan that was extended in August.

Although he’s not talking, Cage is taking the defensive. The lawsuit clearly places the blame on Levin, stating “relied on Levin to handle his financial affairs to ensure that he and his family would have a financially secure future built on the foundation of the substantial monies Cage earned through years of hard work.”

Method Man Booked for Four-Year Tax Evasion

Method Man, a member of the notoriously gangster rap group Wu-Tang Clan, was arrested for a notoriously un-gangster felony: not filing his taxes.

Clifford “Method Man” Smith turned himself in to Staten Island police today on charges of failing to pay four years worth of income taxes, amounting to $32, 799. There is a hearing scheduled for this afternoon and if he does end up being convicted, he could face up to four years in jail.

This is Meth’s second brush with American taxes – his n Navigator was repossessed in 2008 by the Department of Taxation.

There is no word as to what this will mean for his potential fall tour with Snoop Dogg and Redman, the Wonderland High School Tour in support of Snoop’s new album, Malice in Wonderland. The tour is scheduled to kick off on Oct. 27 in Baltimore.
