EMI Sues Ireland Over Snoop Dogg

EMI is suing an entire country, not its civilians, but literally entire country for downloading too many Snoop Dogg MP3s illegally.

I was unaware that the Irish even loved the rapper more than a baked potato. Apparently Ireland breached copyright law and now EMI (the label Snoop’s on) is pissed.

EMI can’t seen to fully grasp the digital world, or else they’d find a way to maintain a steady cashflow from internet users. Sure, sometimes people don’t pay for music but that’s only because a lot of other labels and indie bands constantly release music for free.

It’s reported in the Toronto Standard that EMI is trying to work together with the Irish Law to tackle piracy. Trying to combat illegal downloading is like trying to get Snoop to give up smoking weed. It isn’t going to happen if it’s accessible just about everywhere.

Prince Humiliated By Irish Courts

Prince has been humiliated publicly by the Irish Courts. A judge decided to release information about a court battle that the pop singer lost, according to TMZ.

High Court Justice Peter Kelly announced that Prince owes almost $3 Million to concert promoters after he backed out of a 2008 show in Dublin.

The two parties apparently reached a settlement in February but Prince has yet to write a cheque.

The Script To Open For Paul McCartney

Ireland’s The Script were one of UK’s biggest breakout bands last year and now they’re on their way to becoming the next big thing in the U.S. The Irish trio consists of Danny O’Donoghue (keys and vocals), Mark Sheehan (guitar), and Glen Power (drums).

In case you haven’t heard their single “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved,” that’s burning up charts, The Script boasts a new brand of Celtic Soul with a blend of hip hop lyrical flow, rock dynamics, pop melodies and R&B production.

Their self-titled album was released in the U.S. on March 17, after debuting in the UK, selling more copies of their first album than any other debut group.

Before heading on a headlilining American tour with Parachute on July 30, the band will be opening up for Sir Paul McCartney as the first artist to ever perform at Citifield in New York.
