Howie Mandel was released from a Toronto hospital Tuesday after spending the night due to an irregular heartbeart.
As previously reported, the 52-year-old Canadian comedian collapsed in his hotel room Monday evening and was rushed to St. Michael’s Hospital.
The “Deal or No Deal” host was in the city to shoot his new hidden-camera show, “Howie Do It.”
Mandel’s spokesperson released a statement Monday night about his client’s condition, emphasizing that Mandel did not suffer a heart attack, contrary to early reports.
“Howie is in the hospital being monitored for an irregular heartbeat but doctors expect him to be released and back to work [Tuesday],” Lewis Kay said.
Kay revised his statement Tuesday to say Mandel would resume filming on Wednesday.
Global television has announced plans to air a Canadian version of the game show “Deal or no Deal,” and for once we aren’t getting a cheesy Canadian “celebrity” knock-off host.
Yes, Howie Mandel is Canadian, but he also hosts the American version. It’s been announced that he will travel north to host five shows which will air next spring.
“Any opportunity to come home, I do and I’m there a lot regardless. So to get paid and to be able to do the thing that I love doing most right now and to do it in my hometown is pretty exciting,” Mandel said in an interview with the Toronto Star.
Mandel still has a home in Toronto though he lives in Los Angeles.
The Canadian version will actually be the 67th incarnation of the show, which has been in a hit in countries around the world.
