Hawksley Workman, Others To Play ‘Blue Revue’

Posted by Eva Lam on April 26th, 2008

Several Canadian musicians are banding together to raise awareness and money for a new music fund.

Hawksley Workman, Sarah Harmer, Serena Ryder, Great Lake Swimmers and Danny Michel, among others, will play a one-off show called “The Blue Revue” at Toronto’s Phoenix Concert Theatre on June 19.

The goal of the gig: to raise money for The Blue Marble Music Fund, which will support music education for students and help budding musicians or musicians in financial need.

The fund was created in memory of Bonnie O’Donnell, a member of the Pandyamonium Artist Management team who backed such artists as Workman, Ryder and Jully Black.

O’Donnell passed away after a brief illness in January.

At the Juno Awards earlier this month, Ryder dedicated her win for new artist of the year to her late manager.

“It’s even more significant that she’s not here in three-dimension because I feel like she’s here in an even bigger way and I’m all the more proud that she was in my life; I feel very blessed,” Ryder told reporters backstage.

Tickets for “The Blue Revue” are on sale now for $30 (plus application charges) at Ticketmaster, maplemusic.com, and Criminal Records and Soundscapes in Toronto.
