With three books in her L.A. Candy series already under her belt, Conrad has just signed on with HarperCollins for another three-book trilogy, entitled The Fame Game, which will follow the life of antagonist Madison Parker from L.A. Candy in her rise to reality fame, according to Perez Hilton.
“We took the mean girl of the [L.A. Candy books], spinning her off,” Conrad told Us Magazine. “This series is about a girl who loves everything that fame is, and that’s all she’s ever really wanted,” Conrad explains. “[Madison] has fun with the press, she enjoys the attention, she welcomes scandal!”
With all the juicy scandals and backstabbing that Madison caused in L.A. Candy, we can’t wait to see what this fictional drama queen will have next in store for us!
However, Conrad assured Us Magazine that none of the characters are based on people from her past, not even her former “The Hills” co-star Heidi Montag, and have instead taken Hollywood stereotypes and played with them to create the characters in the novel.
“With a clothing empire to run as well (her third line debuts this fall), when does Conrad write?” reports Us Magazine. “’Between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m.,’ Conrad tells Us. ‘My phone doesn’t ring, and there’s nothing on TV!’ Is Conrad’s longtime beau, actor Kyle Howard, an L.A. Candy devotee? ‘He read my first book, which was very sweet,’ Conrad says, laughing. ‘I told him he didn’t have to read the rest. ”I don’t think he’s the target market!’”
So cute! Can’t wait to read the crazy and dramatic stories you have whipped up for us this time, Lauren! Will you be first in line to buy The Fame Game when it’s released?
Colin Meloy, the frontman of The Decemberists, and his wife Carson Ellis have signed with HarperCollins to create a children’s book series titled Wildwood, reports CHARTattack.
It’s the perfect team: Colin’s lyrical masterpieces paired with Carson’s artwork.
The music of The Decemberists has a kind of whimsical flavour that, as CHARTattack so well puts it, has “always been full of fantastical adventures, dreamed up from some hidden region at the aft of his [Colin Meloy’s] mind.”
Take that and add in the fact that Carson is a professional artist/illustrator and has also done the artwork for The Decemberists albums and you have got an incredible couple to be working on this kind of project.
A press release lays out the ground work for the series, reports CHARTattack, saying it will be set in an alternate version of Portland and include “adventure, magic, and danger”. Later it states that the series will be the equivalent of an “American Narnia.”
Go buy some of The Decemberists music, take a listen, and start getting excited – even if you aren’t a kid anymore.

Michael has had a turbulent personal and professional life, filled with tabloid drama. The book will reveal Michael’s side of the stories we all know, as well as some juicy secrets. “People aren’t stupid, they’re beginning to notice that the truth is more interesting than the stories the press come up with,” Michael’s manager said.
