I know we keep saying that “this is the last Harlem Shake video to need to see” five videos ago, but seriously, this the last Harlem Shake video you need to see. Trust me, we desperately want this awful internet fad to go away and what better way to say “sayonara” than with fire? I’m not going to lie because it feels like the Harlem Shake videos are the White Walkers (or Twilight vampires. Whatever floats your boat) of the internet; they don’t die until you set it on fire.
Watch till the very end and you’ll soon understand what I mean.
If you are going to watch any Harlem Shake video, it should be this one. While it’s least favourite viral trend, One Direction makes it bearable. Basically, One Direction can make just about anything cool.
It’s fun just to imagine how crazy Harry Style’s hair probably got after he did the “Harlem Shake.” The second best thing about this video, is this Directioner’s comment:
1. Why did no one tell the Backstreet Boys that the Harlem Shake is dead?
2. Nick Carter is pretending to be New York City’s singing cowboy, a.k.a. he’s practically naked.
Enjoy, ladies and gents.
Even though the Harlem Shake is SO last month, people are still doing it…to much failure.
Making the smart decision to dance beside a glass case, these two girls decide to dance along to Bauuer’s annoying dubstep track to surprising results.
Seriously, if you want some easy entertainment…just watch the video. This whole clip just makes for a fitting end to a ridiculously stupid trend.
Any journalism student will tell you that the most difficult aspect of news writing is trying to convey information to your reader as clearly and efficiently as possible. In some cases, visuals are better in transmitting this information than words.
So of course the next logical step in reporting Lil Wayne’s dramatic hospitalization last weekend is to animate it so we all know exactly what happened to our favourite face-tattooed rapper.
From visiting the “hip hop hospital” to the most inappropriate (or appropriate, depending how you look at it) use of Baauer’s “Harlem Shake,” this is basically how I want all my celebrity news to be reported from here on out. The video even shows a miniature Lil Wayne mixing his own Sizzurp (which he is rumoured to be addicted to) and an Angel-version of Lil Wayne busting out some dance moves with Angel Elvis.

On our latest edition of Talking Sh*t, we talked a little shit on the hashtag.
It was a loving roast on the internet’s buzziest buzz word and we even created a human monument dedicated to the hashtag, which we obviously called the #HumanHashtag. It’s pretty much just as stupid as all those other viral schemes, like planking, owling and faux Harlem Shaking, so of course you’ll want to give it a try!
This is how we created our own #HumanHashtag:
Get it? Got it? Good. Now go grab some friends and make your own!
Make sure to share your attempts at the internet’s latest stupid stunt by:
- tweeting it at us @andpop
- sharing it on our Facebook page
- instagramming it to us @andpop
Don’t forget to tag it as #HumanHashtag because we’ll be following that too!
If there wasn’t enough reason to completely abandon this year’s stupidest viral sensation already, you might just stop stupidly convulsing right now because the “Harlem Shake” could actually get you fired.
According to the Associate Press, up to 15 Australian miners were fired from their jobs at a gold mine after their underground Harlem Shake performance was deemed unsafe. It wasn’t just the miners-turned-dancers that were let go—those who were simply watching were also given the boot.
While the dancing miners were all wearing helmets, the mine owner still considered the stunt a safety issue and a breach of its “core values of safety, integrity and excellence.
While we all think the Harlem Shake is a complete waste of time now we have screaming goats interrupting Taylor Swift every five seconds, do you think the miners should have been fired? Comment and let us know below!

There are too many Harlem Shake videos on YouTube to even count. Every possible angle has been exhausted…or so I thought. Apparently YouTube itself has made a Harlem Shake video. Not the YouTube staff. The actual website.
Watch the video above to see what happens when you type “do the Harlem Shake” into the search engine. And then once everyone has seen this, can we PLEASE be done with this craze? Please?????
When you think there are no more Harlem Shake videos to watch, ANDPOP will prove you wrong. Here’s another Harlem Shake you didn’t ask for, but we one we brought you anyway.
So is the Harlem Shake over or what? After the craze started to get viral about two weeks ago, it almost seems as if the internet sensation has lot some of its momentum. (Well in that case, THANK GOD!!)
But performing only one of the few Harlem Shakes I actually approve of, this Lego version is actually kind of awesome. So much so, that the man who spends TWO YEARS making his Lego Iron Man dance has been missing out on some really cool trends because he’s wasted so much time animating his film.
Anderson Cooper can do anything. No, seriously. On top of being a news superstar on CNN, he saved a kid’s life, is a charming talk show host, and has a wicked sense of humour. The Tumblr Sassy Anderson Cooper is dedicated to documenting his most LOL-worthy moments. Check out just some of our favourites!

Admittedly, we post a lot of Harlem Shake videos. Some good, mostly bad and yes, we too are impatiently waiting for the fad to die out. We were also waiting for the good people of Harlem, New York City to comment on the viral craze that besmirches their fair neighbourhood because if anyone has authority on the ‘Shake, it’s them.
Asides from their general look of disgust and disappointment, the residents of Harlem had some astute observations. Some of my favourites are:
Above all, the general consensus coming out of Harlem seems to be that the whole viral video trend is disrespectful to not only the dance, but the neighbourhood. They even go so far as to show you what the dance move actually looks like which, for the record, is 500 times better than some half-ass Bernie-ing.
If you’ve ever thought the strange roar at the end of every Harlem Shake video sounded a little demonic, you’ll LOVE The Exorcist edition. The new Gangnam Style fits perfectly to this scene from the classic horror flick about getting possessed by the devil. Props to the only Harlem Shake video that’s made me laugh til I cried.
This cats facial reaction to the harlem shake can be translated into “Cool story bro. Tell it again.” I bow down to this cat for representing all of our reactions to this ridiculous fad. Thank you for showing how we all feel when we watch harlem shake videos. No. Just NO.
According to YouTube Trends, approximately 12,000 Harlem Shake videos have been uploaded to YouTube since the beginning of the month and, as of February 11, has been watched up to 44 million times. So, the question is how many of those views are because of you?
Just in case the truth makes you feel a tad uncomfortable, here’s at least one more video you have to see. Wait, why should this be your last potential Harlem Shake video? Well, a) it’s at SeaWorld (San Antonio to be specific) and b) now you’ll know how a walrus gets down and dirty on the dance floor.
I don’t know about you guys, but while that was pretty cute, I think Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show staff got the right idea:
I’ve never been a big fan of the Harlem Shake because: 1) Flailing around isn’t even close to what the Harlem Shake is and 2) the concept is pretty gosh darn stupid.
But after trying to watch a bunch of different Harlem Shake videos, I finally came across one that I approve of 100 %. In fact, I just think everyone should stop trying after seeing this one.
This might as well be the very last Harlem Shake ever made, but unfortunately for a small minority of us, this trend is probably not going away for another two weeks.
The fine people at Clark Retirement Community wrangled up all the seniors and had them do their own version of “Harlem Shake.” I’m pretty much over the whole dance crazy but this is an exception. When I’m ready to check into a retirement home I’m heading to this one!
If you’re one of those people who has somehow avoided watching a Harlem Shake video, I’m sorry but you have to see this one!
Just in case you can’t tell from the video above, it involves a puppy. A really, really, really cute puppy dancing. That’s already pretty adorable, right? BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE! The puppy gets more friends to dance with, so now there’s a bunch of different puppies dancing all at once!
AND IT GETS EVEN BETTER BECAUSE ONE OF THE PUPPIES HAS A LITTLE BOW ON ITS HEAD! I’M SORRY FOR THE CAPS BUT I’M FLAILING BECAUSE IT’S ALL SO CUTE! AHHH!

The “Harlem Shake” is taking over the Internet. If you don’t know what it is, then I can confidently say you’re currently living in Antarctica or under a very large rock.
The “Harlem Shake” was hilarious when it was a novelty, and for the most part it still is, but if you’re anything like me you can begin to feel the sheer number of videos weighing down on you just like the “Call Me Maybe” lip-sync videos of 2012. And if you’ve already reached your limit, you’re not alone.
This panda is FED UP and takes drastic measures to shut down the shake before anyone is even out of their seat. It may seem like an overreaction now, but give it three days and you’ll all know where he’s coming from.
So many YouTubers are posting videos of their personalized “Harlem Shake” that I have no words to describe the booty-shaking madness anymore. But there’s a special place in my heart for this one by Matt and Kim, not only because I’m in love with them but because I’m going to their concert this weekend so now I’m extra stoked.
Please do this on Saturday, kay Matt and Kim? Thanks.
According to Wikipedia (the most legit source of the internet…) “The Harlem Shake” was originally called the albee and started in Harlem around 1981. T
he dance became mainstream in 2001 when G-Dep featured it in his music video “Let’s Get It.”
If you’re still not sure how or why the “krazy kids” are doing the “Harlem Shake,” leave it to dance instructor Professor Lock on mahalodotcom.
