WOW.
Words cannot explain how amazed I am by the trailer for Cloud Atlas.
Brought to you by the Matrix trilogy’s Andy and Lana Wachowski and Run Lola Run’s Tom Tykwer, this film is an adaptation of David Mitchell’s 2004 novel of the same name.
Featuring a talented cast of Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent and Hugh Grant, the film is an exploration of how the actions of individual lives impact one another in the past, present and future. To make things sound more complicated, the film is a kaleidoscopic tale where each cast member plays multiple roles. Split into six stories, the film interweaves its characters’ storylines in an epic tale featuring science-fiction elements while focusing on themes such as love, life and the interconnected nature of existence.
If you’re still confused by the plot of this film, perhaps the gorgeous trailer will make you think otherwise. Set to release on October 26, I particularly love how it doesn’t reveal too much despite its lengthy trailer that lasts a little less than six minutes.
What do you think? I don’t want to start hyping the film, but I won’t be surprised if it gets nominated for a couple of Oscars.
In a fascinating story through photo-gallery out of the Toronto Star last week, it seems winners of the Best Actress Oscar since the year 2000 have a disturbing track record for getting divorced shortly after.
The freshest in everyone’s minds would likely be Sandra Bullock and her public fiasco with Jesse James, but a quick stroll through this gallery will send chills down your spine and remind you that Halle Berry, Hilary Swank and others all split from their husbands shortly after taking home the statue.
Watch out Natalie Portman. This Black Swan role is becoming as real as ever.
The beautiful Halle Berry is best known for dazzling audiences on the big screen, but few know about her childhood battle with an abusive father in a violent home.
In an interview with CNN, Berry opens up about her past in the hope that it will bring the issue of domestic violence into the spotlight. Berry spent the beginning of her life watching her father physically and mentally abuse her mother before blossoming into the on-screen siren we know today.
“I’ve spent my adult life dealing with the sense of low self-esteem that sort of implanted in me. Somehow I felt not worthy,” Berry, now a mother herself, explains. “Before I’m ‘Halle Berry,’ I’m little Halle…a little girl growing in this environment that damaged me…I’ve spent my adult life trying to really heal from that.”
Berry dedicates an enormous amount of her time to the Jenesse Center, a shelter in Los Angeles that takes in abused women. She also renovates low-cost apartments to provide a new home to victims and their children as they get back on their feet.

According to Perezhilton.com, prominent actress, Halle Berry will make her Broadway debut in The Mountaintop alongside Samuel L. Jackson.
The Mountaintop is a play written by Katori Hall. It is a fictionalized account of the Reverend Martin Luther King’s last night before his assassination on April 4, 1968. The entire play takes place in a room at the Lorraine Motel. The production first premiered in London in 2009 and received rave reviews. Surely it’s transatlantic leap will be no different.
The Broadway stage is new territory for Berry. Having won a prestigious Academy Award for her intense roll in 2001′s romantic drama, Monster’s Ball, the stage should prove to be an effective place for Berry to show off her acclaimed acting skills once again.
In regard to Berry’s film career, she has just finished shooting her new movie, Frankie and Alice, a character study of a person with multiple personality disorder. However, the film only received a C+ rating from Entertainment Weekly’s film critic Lisa Schwarzbaum. In light of the mediocre review, perhaps the stage is a good career decision for the actress.
E! Online reports that after 5 years of being together, actress Halle Berry and model Gabriel Aubrey have called it quits.
The reason for the break? Radar Online reports that a source close to the situation says Aubry was the one who ended it for reasons that include the 9 year age difference between the two. You shouldn’t expect Catwoman to be upset and go on the prowl though; Berry and Aubry have reportedly been working respectfully with their lawyers to iron out the agreements for the past few months.
Though they were never married, the pair shared five years as a couple and even has a two-year-old daughter, Nahla, together.
Although no permanent custody agreement has been put together yet, Halle and Gabriel have worked out several short-term arrangements for their young daughter. As far as the finances go, Radar Online reports that Gabriel was fine with not taking a dime from Halle—making around $700,000 per year himself, he doesn’t really need the extra cash.
Both of them seem to be working at a fair agreement and understand where the other is coming from—Aubry just lost the flame and they weren’t able to see eye-to-eye when it came to love.
If you aren’t familiar with Aubry’s work, the Canadian-born model is one of the highest paid in the business. His impressive portfolio includes the likes of modeling for Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, and Hugo Boss.
With their combined talent and good looks it is no surprise that Halle and Gabriel met on the set of an advertisement for Versace, an Italian fashion line, in 2005. They quickly hit it off and seemed to be on the same page when it came to marriage.
E! Online reports that Halle told Harper’s Bazaar one year ago that she never wanted to tie the knot again. “I’m done,” she said. The actress was fed up with marriage after two attempts. E! Online reports that Halle told Harper’s Bazaar she was delighted to have found someone “who feels done, too.”
With Halle’s previous men, things had not gone very smoothly. The Oscar winning actress’ first marriage to baseball player David Justice was broken up after four years in 1997—reports accused Justice of abuse and Halle was said to have had thoughts of suicide, reports E! Online. The star’s second husband, singer Eric Benét, lasted four years but their marriage ended after information surfaced about him cheating.
We’re sorry for the breakup, but friends, two good looking people just hit the market!
British actress Kate Winslet, known for her starring roles in such blockbusters as “Titanic,” ”Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “Revolutionary Road,” and “The Reader,” has been voted as having the most desirable celebrity body, reports perezhilton.com.
According to a recent YouGov poll, the stunning star with her post-children body is the number one most desired. Also included on the list are other beauties such as Halle Berry, Cheryl Cole, Beyonce, Megan Fox and Lily Allen.
Actress and mother to 1-year-old Nahla Ariela tells Ellen DeGeneres on her show that she does want another child, but is not up for a huge family. “I hope I don’t have like 14 more,” says Berry. Although the star doesn’t rule out having more kids in her future, and neither does model Gariel Aubry, father to their 1 year old. He told PEOPLE in February that Nahla “needs a sibling.” And, unlike Berry, he doesn’t limit the numbers. Said the man who comes from a family of 8, “I believe in big families.”

TRASHY VS. SEXY
Note to Hollywood: trashy is not sexy.
It seems like a simple concept, no? And yet, Megan Fox is on this month’s cover of GQ looking trash-tastic and not sexy. Meghan Fox is hot. Yes. No argument there. But sexy, she is not. Okay, maybe sometimes. Hey, disagree with me all you want but Megan Fox embodies all that is wrong with the girls of this generation. The girls who have grown up with Bratz dolls (trashy) and whose role models are the Pussy Cat Dolls (super trashy). These girls look to Megan Fox to define what it means to be sexy.
But, as usual, I digress. In the midst of this cultural misunderstanding of sexiness, Esquire magazine went against the recent trashy trend and pegged Halle Berry as this year’s Sexiest Woman Alive. Holler.
Halle Berry is sexy. Hands down. Aside from Catwoman- let’s pretend Halle never tainted her movie repertoire with that cinematic atrocity- her talent and beauty have propelled her onto the A-list and into that illustrious list of actresses who’ve managed to combine class and sex appeal.
Grace Kelly. Audrey Hepburn. Julia Roberts. Charlize Theron. Halle Berry.
Granted, not all of the above women have posed provocatively on magazine covers or partaken in many nude (or semi-nude) scenes. Granted, Halle is posing in barely-there tank tops and her underwear in the photo spread in Esquire. But for some reason, Halle in minimal clothing is not trashy. It’s sexy.
Knowing when to take your clothes off is sexy. Confidence is sexy. Talent is sexy. Self-actualization is sexy.
Girlfriend’s got that all down. She even managed to grab this coveted title just six months after giving birth — to, like, the most beautiful baby of all time, I might add.
So here’s what, in her OWN words, the world’s sexiest lady has to say about being sexy:
“Sexy is not about wearing sexy clothes or shaking your booty until you damn near get hip dysplasia; it’s about knowing that sexiness is a state of mind — a comfortable state of being. It’s about loving yourself even in your most unlovable moments.”
You tell ‘em, Halle. Note: Penning her own cover article in Esquire is totally sexy- even if she got mad help from writer Tom Chiarella.
So what does Ms Berry think is sexy? Forearms, finger fed-spaghetti, sloe gin fizz and her man’s car.
Megan Fox, are you taking notes? Sucking an ice cube in your bikini, talking about cupping your man’s dick in public and sharing details about your lesbian fling with a stripper is NOT SEXY. It’s trashy, trashy, trashy.
I wonder if Megan will ever transition from trashy one-movie wonder to sexy screen goddess like that actress she’s being constantly compared to: Angelina Jolie- the one and only. Remember when Angie was brash, dating Billy Bob and bordering on trashy?
I think Megan could possibly have it in her. But only- and this is the key to separating trashy from sexy- if she’s got enough going on up there (in the brain area people). Can her mental capacity match her physical hotness?
We’ll just have to wait and see.
Halle says it best: “It’s about what you know as much as it is what you offer.”
So here’s what I will say to the young ladies of Generation Y. If you MUST, and only if you must, look to Hollywood for role models or for barometers of acceptable sexiness- here’s a short guide.
Angelina on the cover of W sweetly smiling into the camera while breastfeeding her newborn twins. Sexy.
Those leaked photos of Miley Cyrus in a wet tank top puckering her lips to the camera. Trashy.
Scarlett Johansson fully clothed on the cover of Cosmo Girl being outspoken about her political beliefs. Sexy
Fergie. Trashy.
Natalie Portman. Sexy.
You got it? Good. Now, leave the booty-shaking behind, arm yourself with confidence and intelligence and my friends, SEXY, you shall be.
Halle Berry is going after the paparazzi responsible for circulating photos of her 4-month-old daughter, reports E! News.
According to Berry’s lawyer, the photos of Berry and her daughter Nahla Ariela Aubry were taken while the pair were “out and about” in the Oscar winner’s backyard.
“The paparazzi have gone too far. [Gabriel] and I have always remained that we would never sell baby photos or otherwise exploit her in any way,” Berry said in a statement obtained by the entertainment website.
“I will do everything I can for the sake of her safety and well-being to keep her out of the public eye…I intend to do everything I can to make sure the photographer who illegally intruded into my home is criminally prosecuted.”
The photos were published both in Life & Style and In Touch Weekly magazines. A rep for both magazine claims that they licensed the photos from “an established photo agency.”
“The magazines are not aware that there was anything improper in the taking of this image,” the rep said.
There is one less pregnant actress in Hollywood.
Leaving the pack of pregnant starlets behind, Halle Berry welcomed her first child, a baby girl, Sunday.
Berry and the baby’s father, Canadian model Gabriel Aubry, are “doing great,” her publicist Meredith O’Sullivan told People.com.
The couple has yet to name the baby but it has been reported that Berry will give the child her father’s last name.
Berry has been anxiously awaiting the arrival of her first child and told Oprah Winfrey while promoting Things We Lost in the Fire, that she was ready to be a mother and that the role prepared her for the task.
“I think it validated that I was meant to be a mother, because every day I dealt with the character as a mother and thinking as a mother,” Berry said. “It let me know that I must be a mother.”
Berry, 41 and Aubry, 32 met while shooting a Versace ad in Los Angeles two years ago and are said to have no plans to marry.
What do Halle Berry and Mel Gibson have in common? Lets hope it’s just an Oscar.
Making late-night small talk with Jay Leno this week, actress Halle Berry busted out her typical funny witticisms and anecdotes – but it wasn’t long before Berry’s interview took a nose-dive due to an anti-Semitic comment.
The actress had brought along some computer images that she had doctored herself on her Mac computer.
“The machine morphs your face to look like all these silly other people,” she smiled. “Whenever I’m feeling really bad about the world I do this to crack myself up.”
The crowd was roaring at the site of her distorted face until she held one with an enormously deformed nose and said, “this one, I don’t know, this is like my Jewish cousin.”
Her full remark was not aired, and the producers covered the deadly silent audience with a laugh track, bleeping out the word ‘Jewish’.
The actress publicly apologized to press explaining that she didn’t mean for her statement to come out that way, and she feels terrible for having potentially offended any one.
“I so didn’t mean to offend anybody—and after the show I realized it could be seen as offensive, so I asked Jay to take it out, and he did,” E! News quoted.

Oscar winner HALLE BERRY has confirmed she’s three months pregnant with her first child.
The actress sent Nancy O’Dell, a U.S. TV news anchor, an email to confirm the good news she’s expecting boyfriend Gabriel Aubry’s child.
New mum O’Dell broke the news on TV show Access Hollywood on Tuesday (04Sep07) – hours after reports spread that Berry’s baby had halted production on the set of her new film Tulia.
In the email, Berry wrote, “Yes, I am three months pregnant! Gabriel and I
are beyond excited, and I’ve waited a long time for this moment in life.
“Now the next seven months will be the longest of my life… You heard it
from ME first!”
Thrilled O’Dell, who became a first-time mum earlier this summer (07) says, “I am beyond ecstatic for my friend Halle! I told her she is about to embark on the best time of her life! She is such a sweet person… so genuine… and therefore, will make an incredible mom.
“And can you imagine how gorgeous this baby is gonna be! Halle sent me the most adorable bunch of clothes for my new baby… I can’t wait to do the same for her.” (KL/WNVACC/MT)

LATEST: HALLE BERRY has denied reports she is expecting her first child with boyfriend Gabriel Aubury.
A U.S. tabloid claimed on Thursday (16Aug07) the Oscar-winning actress is two months pregnant.
A source was quoted as saying, “Halle is so happy right now. She’s wanted a baby for so long.”
But her representative insists the pregnant reports are “not true”. (IG/WNWCCTR/MT)

It’s confirmed – Halle Berry is ready to bust out her singing chops to the world.
Not satisfied by simply being an Oscar-winning actress hottie, Berry has announced she is set to release her debut album next year.
The self-titled Halle is scheduled to hit store shelves on Feb. 6. It was pushed back from its original release date of Jan. 9 due to Berry’s busy filming schedule.
She is currently getting ready for the release of two new movies she’s got in the can for next year: “Things We Lost In the Fire” with Benicio Del Toro and “Perfect Stranger.”
“I’ve always loved to sing and this album will show people that I can do more than act,” Berry said in an interview with Ebony magazine.
Rumour has it that the new CD will feature tracks the actress recorded with Timbaland (credited for Justin Timberlake’s sexy new album and re-igniting Nelly Furtado’s this year) and Jamie Foxx.
Halle Berry has reportedly been cast in a new Dreamworks movie based on the life of Tierney Cahill, a white teacher.
In Class Act, Berry will portray Cahill, the teacher from Reno, Nevada who was challenged by her sixth-grade students to run for Congress in the 2000. Cahill ended up losing her bid, but won 35 per cent of the popular vote.
Producers have reportedly said they wanted to cast the best actress in the part, regardless of colour.
Halle Berry has fessed up about threatening to quit the last two ‘X-Men’ movies ? but she says it was just a bluff. Berry’s threat was over the lack of screen time for her character, according to the Toronto Sun.
“I threatened all that, but I didn’t really mean it,” said Berry, who plays ‘Storm’ in the films. “I just wanted, not more screen time, but if I’m going to be on for five minutes, I say something meaningful for five minutes. Not just, ‘C’mon kids, let’s go fly that plane!’”
And the tactic worked. Apparently, an early scene in “X-Men: The Last Stand” sets up Storm as a vital character.
The third ? and ostensibly final ? installment in the X-Men movie franchise opens this Friday.
After successful outings, and one not so successful one, Halle Berry is ready to hang up her super hero costume for good.
Berry has appeared in all three of the X Men movies, portraying Storm, a mutant who has the ability to control the weather. She also portrayed Catwoman, which was a box office bomb.
Berry said she wanted to play a stong woman, which Storm is. However, she feared that Storm was not written as strong and independent as she is in the comic book.
?It?s no fun to play a woman that does nothing,? she told the Associated Press.
