Newfoundland band Great Big Sea is OK after their tour bus flipped over into a ditch near Vancouver.
?I think everyone was terrified,? says guitarist Bob Hallett. ?When you’re in a band everyone has heard stories about bus crashes and plane crashes. It’s a lot of fun to play music, but it’s not worth dying for.?
The accident occurred 11 a.m. Thursday on the Transcanada Highway when the driver swerved onto the shoulder to avoid hitting cars in front when traffic came to a crawl.
Only the driver sustained injuries, which were minor and treated at a local hospital.
Police say the bus was travelling too fast when it flipped over. Although drugs or alcohol weren?t a factor, the driver may still be charged under the Motor Vehicle Act.
Guitarist Sean McCann wasn?t on the bus because he flew to Vancouver.
The band was on their way to Vancouver after performing a sold-out show in Calgary Wednesday night.
