It appears Jill Scott woke up today and forgot to eat some humble pie for breakfast.

The soul singer, who’s put out four studio albums since 2000, ranted on her Twitter page about not getting any Grammy nods last night.

If I were her I’d just be appreciative of the 160,000+ followers on Twitter and the number one albums and world recognition and respect. But I mean, if a Grammy is what helps her sleep at night, then so be it. It’s distasteful to see a celebrity complain about not being given too much. They seem to already have the world handed to them on a silver platter, yet for Jill Scott it doesn’t seem enough. I want a committed relationship, $1,000,000, a panda to cuddle with at night and a lifetime supply of sushi. Do I complain about it constantly on social networks? No. I try and appreciate what I have and work my way around it.

It seems Jill Scott cooled off a few hours after that epic tweet fail. She later wrote “my head is up. My son is healthy, my family is loving & so are my fans. God is real. Disappointments too still I come thru like a Kung foo.”

Looks like she won’t be interrupting Adele’s Grammy award speech anymore.

Posted on andPOP:

Lady GaGa stopped by The Gayle King Show and announced that she will be releasing not one, but two music videos for her new single ‘Born This Way’.

The first video will be out on Monday, February 28, and the second will be released later as a more stripped-down performance of the single. She will sell the video on iTunes and gear the profits towards an anti-bullying charity, which is fitting since the song is about accepting who you are and living without prejudice.

GaGa has given no hints about what the video will look like or include, but one can only imagine after her egg spectacle at the Grammys. The video is directed by Nick Knight, a British fashion photographer, who coincidentally shot GaGa for her Vanity Fair cover in September.

I’m excited for this video premiere. I can always count on GaGa to deliver something creative and exciting, a great change from predictable artists dominating the charts. Even if I hate it or don’t understand it, at least this video will leave me with some sort of emotion or opinion. As long as she’s got me talking, I’m happy.

I think that’s what a lot of pop stars today lack: creativity. When we watch a Britney Spears video or listen to a Rihanna song, do we really find ourselves that amazed or induced in thought? Of course not. It’s just another young, hot thing dancing around in her underwear. Which, at times is nice, but for the most part, not very stimulating. GaGa, on the other hand, has meaning behind her songs. She has depth, she has a voice. Whether people like her or hate her, at least she has a stance on something. And now, with two videos on the way, we’re promised double the freaky-deaky and double the opinion. Bring it.

The video is sure to be a success, though. The song went straight to #1 literally everywhere, and sold 1,000,000 copies in one week – the fastest song to do that, ever. I don’t know what it is about GaGa, but people love to scrutinize her, love to discuss her, and love to watch her. To me, that’s a modern pop star done right. Take notes, Britney.

The charity group provides support for people with epilepsy, and says that the video “should not be broadcast on U.K. television.”

“However, the Kanye West video is still available online, most notably on YouTube where it has had several million hits, and no such regulations exist for online broadcasting,” said the organization in a statement.

As a result of this outburst, the video, which features a barely-dressed Rihanna, has been pulled from many stations including MuchMusic. “We are pleased to see that YouTube and Kanye West’s representatives have listened to our concerns and are warning people that the video is a risk to some people,” Epilepsy Action campaigns manager Aimee Gee said to MTV.

It’s true that the online world of broadcasting has drastically different rules than the television world – meaning there really are no rules for online broadcasting. It’ll be much harder for the music video to be pulled from YouTube than it was to get pulled from television, simply due to the fact that the online world is a free, post-whatever-you-want world. Warning ads have been placed before the video, though.

Now, I don’t know if I just feel bad for Kanye, but the dude just can’t catch a break. Ever since the Taylor Swift fiasco at the Grammys, his career has never been able to fully recover. Although the song is currently at number 14 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart, his video now risks the chance of getting pulled from all media outlets. Poor guy!

I don’t know if pulling the video from everywhere is the solution, though. The obvious answer to this problem seem simple to me; if you have epilepsy, don’t watch a music video called “All of The Lights“. I mean, lights is your first clue that you probably won’t enjoy it. Secondly, I realize that maybe someone could stumble upon the video and have an epileptic seisure, but how about changing the channel if you see bright lights? How are these flashing lights different from Ke$ha or Britney Spears’ videos?

I’ve personally seen the video and I really enjoyed it. I thought it was different, unique, and a fresh change from the usual videos played today. It seems like all the good videos are getting censored nowadays. Just a couple weeks ago, Rihanna’s “S&M” video got pulled in some countries as it was too ‘risky’. I mean, we live in a modern century, a little risky or bright lights won’t hurt anyone. Well, maybe, but you know what I mean.

Does that mean all strobe light parties are at risk of extinction too? Will the world become an abyss of black and white? Will all creativity be banished from our lives, and we’ll be forced to watch Glee episodes on repeat for the rest of eternity?

I know I’m being rash, but I mean, I feel bad for the guy. The video is good. Let Kanye have his moment.

See the video below and be careful!

And of course millions of little Bieber fans are disappointed about his loss, but Justin is taking the event in stride.

“Yes, I wanted to win, but I had an amazing night and performed with Usher and Jaden. That’s so huge!” Bieber told PopEater.

It’s actually refreshing to see this kid lose at something. Justin has $100 Million in the bank, his own biopic, and millions of screaming fans. Isn’t only fair he give someone else the spotlight for a change? And in all fairness, he did get a fair bit of attention at the Grammys during his performance.

So Justin learned a valuable lesson – you can’t always get your way. He’s growing up!!!!!!

Pink was quoted on Perez Hilton.com speaking only praise and admiration for the pop star.

“I think I’d have to go with Lady Gaga because she really, really just took over this year. She was everywhere. She’s fearless when it comes to fashion and videos and I think a lot of other people play it really safe. I think she’s been a total breath of fresh air. I love her videos. In some ways I think she’s the most interesting without seeming to try to hard since Madonna. I think I’m able to like her because I don’t see any of myself in her. And for a while, I think, after Missundaztood came out, it was like, “Oh, everybody wants to be a rock star now.” But with her, I don’t know, I think she’s marching to the beat of her own drum. And I really, really like that,” said Pink.

Lady GaGa is known for her outlandish wardrobe and popular number one dance hits. Her debut album, “The Fame”, released in August 2008, went number one in four countries. Its first two singles “Just Dance” and “Poker Face” became international number one hits. “The Fame” earned six Grammy nominations including Album of the Year. Her second album titled “The Fame Monster” was released in 2009, which talked about the darker side of fame she experienced using the metaphor of a monster. The first single released from the album “Bad Romance” topped international charts.

Lady GaGa has earned five Grammy nominations including album and song of the year. She is also scheduled to open the Grammys with a performance, which is held on Jan. 31. Pink is also in the running for a Grammy, nominated for best female vocal performance for “Sober”.

They will be performing Drake’s collaborated track titled, “Forever.”

On the recorded version of the track, Kanye West also contributes his vocal talent. However, he will not be performing (perhaps keeping him away from award ceremonies is a good thing for a little while – especially when Taylor Swift is around).

Speaking of T-Swift, she will also be performing along with Beyoncé, the Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, and Dave Matthews Band.

Also, if you’re a Lil Wayne fan, you better watch his performance here, as it will be his last TV appearance before he heads back to prison.

Perhaps the perfect way to honor that is a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Recording Academy. This is what Jackson will receive the day prior to the Grammy Awards on January 30, according to mtvnews.com. There are only six other musicians that have been honored with this award, including Bobby Darin, Leonard Cohen, David “Honeyboy” Edwards, Loretta Lynn, Andre Previn and Clark Terry.

Though the deceased Jackson is not eligible for any Grammy nominations this year, his Achievement award will be granted to his memory at the invite-only Special Merit Awards. It hasn’t been announced whether there will be a Michael Jackson tribute at the Grammys this year, though if it does happen, the Jackson brothers have made it media-public that they would be thrilled to assist in any way possible. Jermaine Jackson, brother of the legend, said that if they are involved in a tribute at the prestigious awards ceremony, they just “want it to be real.”

With 10 Grammy nominations, starlet Beyonce has successfully matched the record for most nominations for a female artist in a single year. The other holder of this title is long-time crooner and Fugees Lauryn Hill. In 1999, Hill received 10 Grammy nominations for her solo album, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.”

The majority of Beyonce’s nominations stem from the hit album, “I am… Sasha Fierce,” with the exception of her work on the Cadillac Records soundtrack for her portrayal of the Etta James hit, “At Last.” Beyonce also performed this song in Obama’s honor as he was named President of the United States. She played James character in the film, and was celebrated for his dramatic performance.

The singer, and wife of iconic rap artist Jay-Z, will compete with both Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift who have also been nominated for the same three awards.

It was confirmed that Brown was present at the Clive Davis event last night with an unidentified woman. Another unidentified woman has accused Brown of assaulting on the way home from the party. There was an altercation, and the woman claims to have injuries. The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the charges, but so far Brown has not been charged with anything.

Her personal life has been the horrifying story of celebrity news since October, but her professional life still manages to flourish. Hudson has been nominated for four awards tonight at the 51st Grammy Awards Show.

E! Online reports that the talented star feels blessed and honored to be among the nominees. “It’s been a childhood dream of mine to release an album, so to receive four Grammy nominations is truly a blessing. I’m extremely honored and humbled by the nominations,” Hudson said in a statement released by Arista Records.

Hudson performed Friday at the MusiCares tribute to Neil Diamond, and received the first standing ovation of the night. She sang a soulful rendition of the 1969 hit ‘Holly Holy’.

Hudson’s self-titled debut is nominated for R&B Album of the Year, while the tune “Spotlight” is a contender for best R&B Song and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. Her fourth nomination is a shared one with American Idol buddy, Fantasia. They are in the running for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals for their duet entitled “I’m His Only Woman.”

Posted on andPOP:

The show will go on after all at this year’s Grammy Awards.

The Writer’s Guild of America announced Tuesday that they won’t picket the ceremony on Feb. 10., following earlier warnings they would.

This means big-name artists will likely attend the event at L.A.’s Staples Centre. Indeed, Beyonce and Foo Fighters have already confirmed they will perform.

However, MTV reports that the Recording Academy is still trying to strike a deal with the WGA that would allow its staff writers to work on the show.

The ongoing writers’ strike led to a scaled-back Golden Globes earlier this month, and the Oscars ceremony in February still faces the prospect of WGA picketing.

Part 2 is below. If you’d like to send in comments or questions, email adamATandpopDOTcom

8:00 “Ladies and gentlemen, we are The Police and we are back.”

8:01 Reuniting rock legends like The Police puts pressure on the Grammys to bring other bands back together next year. Is it too soon to reunite O-Town? Maybe K-Ci & JoJo?

8:03 There is an area near the stage filled with fans. It looks like a kleenex box.

8:04 The Police performed one song?? One song? After all that?

8:05 Tony Bennett and Steve Wonder performed together? I must download after the show.

8:06 Wyclef is up for best pop collaboration! And….

8:07 Tony and Stevie won best pop collaboration 10 bucks says Steve makes a blind joke.

8:08 I lost 10 bucks. But they cut them off mid-speech.

8:10 Matt called. “How do they cut off Stevie Wonder?” he wonders. Easy, read 8:08.

8:12 The Dixie Chick with the white dress in the middle looks like she could star in Runaway Bride 2.

8:13 Grammy announcer: “Stay tuned for more performances that you can only see on the Grammys.”
Bram: “That’s not true. I’ll find them on Youtube tomorrow.”

8:18 Prince: “One word. Beyonce.” That’s three words, but thanks for making it to the awards show this time.

8:19 I really think Beyonce could be the next Jennifer Hudson in a few years.

8:22 Best R&B Album: Mary J. Blige. I was really hoping for a shutout. How amazing would that have been? Up for eight awards and zilch. But no, the Grammy Jesus had to take that hope away from me. Good for you Mary, you beat Jamie Foxx.

8:26 If all of Mary’s acceptance speeches are so long, the blog will end now. Ya ya, cut her off.

There are three finalists for the “perform with Timberlake on the Grammys” search. I think they are all from 3LW.

8:36 Timberlake’s performing and I have no comments. Let’s see what the room thinks.
Adrienne: Seriously? Unimpressed.
Bram: Sounds like Cry Me a River. Don’t put that in.

Timberlake has grabbed a mini camera and is walking around with it in his face. It’s like, you know when people take their digital cameras and hold out their arm and take a picture of themselves? Ya, it’s like he’s taking a picture of himself but for 60 seconds.

Adam: Weirdo. But to be honest, I think he performed it well and I only have positive things to say about his performance. The camera thing was strange though.

8:39 Female R&B Performance: Mary J. Blige. Uh oh. Get the band ready. She kept it short. Swell.

8:47 Corinne Bailey Rae, John Mayer and John Legend are performing. Starts with Rae singing “Like a Star” with Mayer on guitar, followed by Legend singing “Coming Home” with Rae and Mayer as back-up singers, and then Mayer’s “Gravity.” Best performance so far.

8:58 Best pop vocal album: John Mayer

9:00 Nicole from Toronto emailed this in: “I wonder if John Mayer pulls the same face when he’s pumping Jessica Simpson as he does when he’s ripping a guitar solo.”

9:09 Wyclef and Shakira killed it. Clef should have won.

9:10 Song of the Year: Dixie Chicks

9:12 Mark from Toronto sends this in: “i hate that shakira had to sing hips dont lie at the 2007 grammy’s over the 2006 grammy’s b/c she released the song too late to be considered last year. I hate shakira!”

9:14 Jen from Toronto would like to respond to Nicole’s earlier comment about John Mayer.
“Re: John Mayer Winning Over JT in the last award category.
I wonder how many times JT will get told by John Mayer tonight.”

9:18 Nicole responds to Mark. “Dear Mark from Toronto:
If Shakira’s hips were lying on yours, I don’t think you’d be hating.” True.

9:19 Good to see how the Grammys are focussing on the music and not influenced by their corporate partners. It’s on CBS but you’d have no idea. Oh wait, here are two actors from How I Met Your Mother.

9:20 Great performance by Gnarls Barkley. Nice to see how the backup singers are in psych ward outfits during this performance of “Crazy.” I smell complain letters!

9:23 Best Rap Album: Ludacris (Lupe deserved the win)
Kanye and Common presented the award, and we got this out of that: Common is glad Kanye beat him last year because, “we’re tired of having you crying about not winning.”
Ludacris then said this in his speech, “Special shout out to Oprah and special shout out to Bill O’Reilly.”

9:28: Mark sent this in about Gnarls’s performance: “Hey, i have an idea…why dont we go all out with a full band and choir for a guy that no one, AND I MEAN NO ONE, will remember one year from today?!?!?!”

Mark, Gnarls is a group featuring two people, but I guess that supports your point. And we look forward to your next comment.

9:33 I can’t wait till they remind us who died this year.

9:36 Gregg from St. Louis sends in this note: “Mary J. Blige deserves all the credit she is getting. Loooove her.”

9:37 I really feel if Mary J. Blige keeps singing like this, she can be the next Jennifer Hudson.

9:39 Best Country Album: Dixie Chicks
Alan Jackson’s still around?

9:41 Dixie Chicks had nothing to say last time. This time, Natalie quotes The Simpsons. “Heh heh.”
I really think if The Simpsons keep up the good work, they can become the next Family Guy.

9:42 They have mentioned about 100 times that one of three girls will get to sing a duet with Timbersnake. Does anyone care? I mean, great, let’s see the performance. But every commercial break you remind us about two things. 1) It’s music’s biggest night. 2) One of these girls will sing. If it’s music’s biggest night, talk about the BIG singers, not these amateurs. Think.

9:48 Rascal Flatts and Carrie Underwood are singing together now. I’ll change the channel for a couple minutes. If something happens in the next four minutes, you won’t read about it here.

9:50 Love Monkey is on MuchMoreMusic at 12:30 a.m. Why did it get cancelled? Why didn’t you watch it?

10:01 Best New Artist: Carrie Underwood
Respect to Tony Romo.

10:06 Fiona from Baltimore writes in, “Adam, why do you have to keep making fun of country music? If you don’t like it, don’t listen, but you don’t have to preach your twisted views on to us country loving folk.”

10:08 Smokey Robinson. Lionel Richie. Chris Brown. One of these is not like the other. One of these just doesn’t belong.

I just sang a duet with Lionel Richie.

Chris Brown ran that performance into the ground.

10:16 Nice back flip off the trampoline, Chris Brown. Wyclef didn’t need the trampoline.

10:18 Nicole: “Chris Brown as a river-dancing skull. Hmmmm.”

10:44 Hasn’t been an award in a while.

10:49 Mark has sent in another comment: “is it me, or did james blunt have a look on his face during his performance of ‘you’re beautiful’ that made you liken him to a serial killer on the loose…with a guitar…and an extremly high pitch voice???”

10:52 Finally, they have chosen someone to sign with JT. Now they can give out some awards. What do you think Clive Davis is thinking sitting in the audience watching a singer who is not signed? Next Whitney! (Whitney could be the next Jennifer Hudson is she cleans up)

10:55 In all honesty, whoever that girl is who just won the chance to sing with Justin, she’s really good. Clive!

10:59 Best Record: Dixie Chicks

11:09 The Grammy announcer said we’re going to be talking about the Chili Peppers performance tomorrow. Let’s see…

11:13 CONFETTI?? That is why I’m going to be talking about the performance tomorrow?

11:14 By cheering for Al Gore, are we cheering for cold?

11:15 Best Rock Album: Red Hot Chili Peppers Was there any doubt?

11:16 Chili Pepper’s drummer: “We’re going streaking!!” No he didn’t say that, but man they look alike.

11:17 Remember when The Police performed?

11:23 Album of the Year: Dixie Chicks

Grammy voters to the world: we hate Bush.

11:26 The guy with the Dixie Chicks sounds like Super Dave.

11:27 The Grammys are over. Big winner is the Dixie Chicks. Good night and thanks for reading. Email comments to adamATandpopDOTcom

According to Billboard, U2 will perform with Mary J. Blige, while Christina Aguilera and Herbie Hancock, Faith Hill and Keith Urban, and Jamie Foxx and Kanye West are also scheduled to pair up.

Specific songs have yet to be confirmed, but Billboard speculates that U2 and Blige will reprise their cover of the classic U2 song, ?One.? The studio version of their duet appeared on Blige’s recent album, “The Breakthrough.”

Meanwhile, Aguilera sang on “A Song for You” from Hancock’s latest album, “Possibilities.”
