Matt Bomer probably won’t be happy to hear that Gotye wasn’t in love with the cover of Glee he sang with Darren Criss during his cameo as Blaine’s older brother. The song selection reportedly played a huge role in Bomer agreeing to do the show, as he told TVLine: ”I had heard the Gotye song and I asked [series co-creator] Ryan [Murphy] if he ever thought of using that as a duet on the show. And he said he had. And then a week later I got a text from him asking me if I wanted to come on the show to sing it.”
Apparently Gotye was expecting something more vibrant than the dry, crusty cover he got of “Somebody That I Used To Know.” He told Australia’s Courier Mail: “They did such a faithful arrangement of the instruments but the vocals were that pop Gleestyle, ultra dry, sounded pretty tuned and the rock has no real sense, like it’s playing to you from a cardboard box,”
It seems a little hypocritical to be making the comments considering Glee’s cover arguably helped give him the push he needed to stay at number one on Billboard’s Hot 100 for so long.
Still, I understand what he’s saying. Lately, I’ve found many of the songs on Glee to be stale compared to the remixed songs from season one and two. If they’re not going to change the arrangements or make them their own, why not listen to the original instead?
Listen to the cover below:
The disco solos on the latest episode of Glee felt like stale covers by American Idol contestants. And it’s not just the last episode that fell flat. Although Glee is losing it’s edge, it’s attempting to win me over again with a cover of Whitney Houston’s “How Will I Know.” Following Whitney’s death in February, it was decided that the Fox show would pay tribute to her.
Glee’s version of the song is a lot more sombre than the bubbly version we’re used to, which gives it a fresh edge. This time, it’s Mercedes (Amber Riley) who showcases her vocals. We’re used to Glee being the “Rachel Show” but this season we’re seeing a lot of the other gleeks get solos.
The song will be part of next Tuesday’s Whitney tribute.

Get out your polyester suits (gag) and dancing shoes, because last night’s episode of Glee was a throwback to the 70s. In an attempt to stick with
an outdated a “vintage” theme for Nationals, the Glee club experimented with music from the film Saturday Night Fever. My initial reaction resembled to three-quarters of the club… disco is DEAD, but it actually left me wanting to get up and dance!
After a fixed dance off, Finn, Mercedes and Santana were declared the winners and given the opportunity to compete in a sing-off to win a John Travolta inspired suit. However, it was actually more of an opportunity for Mr. Schuester and Sue to give these three talented students an opportunity to share their life ambitions. Let’s be honest, haven’t we all been wondering what their future holds — or at least Santana’s? The Glee Project’s Alex Newell, finally made his debut as Wade Adams, the Vocal Adrenaline diva with an alter ego name Unique. Who knew Mercedes had a twin?
After coming down with my own “Tuesday Night Fever,” here’s what I learned from last night’s episode “Saturday Night Glee-ver.” Hah, see what I did there?
1) Mercedes’ dream is to become the next Mariah, Whitney or Aretha, but she doesn’t know anything about transitioning to L.A. With Sam’s quick instincts and tender love, he records her sizzling rendition of “Burn Baby Burn,” posts it on YouTube and proves to her that she’s not skim milk, but the cream of the top. How cute, but it’s not like we did not know that already! Duh.
2) While Sam used YouTube for the power of good, Brittany’s intentions were a little muddled. If a sex tape won’t make you famous then I don’t know what will. After Santana states her main goal in life is to become famous one way or another (well that’s not a surprise), Brittany posts a “sex tape” of the two lovebirds. I know the poor girl means well, and Santana DID get attention, but I don’t think that’s the type of fame she wants… not that she specified any!
3) Well, well Finn finally made his decision about his future and (drumroll) he’s staying in Lima! Jk, jk! After a long battle with Schuester about wanting to always feel “young and free,” the teacher forced him to watch “Saturday Night Fever.” Finn realizes his true passion really does exist in NYC with Rachel, as an actor. Not afraid to admit the truth anymore, he applies to the Actor’s Studio Drama School run by James Lipton. I’m actually happy for these two; it makes me want to find someone as risk taking and considerate as Finn! Read more…
Cooper Anderson’s horrible audition tape for Transformers has finally been leaked and it’s just as horrible as I hoped. If you missed this week’s episode of Glee, Matt Bomer guest starred as conceited actor Cooper Anderson, who is also Blaine’s older rival brother.
On Glee, Cooper Anderson’s audition for Transformers was cancelled at the last minute because the producers decided to go in another direction (read: they found someone who doesn’t have acting skills on par with Joey on Friends). Now, we finally get to see the hypothetical audition tape for the role and it includes a cameo from Darren Criss (Blaine).
It also proves that Matt Bomer is ridiculously good looking along with being funny. That is so unfair.

Last night’s return of Glee proved Ryan Murphy’s unwillingness to kill any characters from the hit show so far. After a 7-week hiatus, I expected there would have been some sort of shocking revelation, either Quinn’s sudden death or the end of Finchel as we know it (even though I admit, I wouldn’t be crying tears of joy about this).
It might seem crazy, but I was overly excited to learn more about Sue’s pregnancy and discover the sex of her little monster. It was also much appreciated to get a glimpse of Blaine’s older, obnoxious, actor brother Cooper Anderson (Matt Bomer). Was it just me, or did anyone else notice the how close his name resembles that of Anderson Cooper? And did anyone else wish they’d been Sue and had Bomer take a look at their breasts before signing them? Oh well, a girl can dream can’t she?
Besides the obvious, here are five things I learned from last night’s episode “Big Brother.”
1) Broadway is apparently dead and in order to become a big name Hollywood actor, according to Mr. Anderson, one must literally point and yell whenever they read lines. He also advises the gleeks to think of a roast beef sandwich when working with a fellow cast mate to distract yourself from making eye contact with them. Somehow they buy it.
2) Blaine and Cooper really love each other and are more than just brothers, they are friends. After taking constant criticism from his older bro, Blaine lashes out at him and they recover by singing Gotye. Ummm… Blaine, do you not see how much more talented you are than your brother? Cooper mentions how jealous he is of his younger bro’s talents. I guess that’s why they call it tough love or is it in brotherly love?
I’m surprised that Cory Monteith doesn’t like dancing considering he’s regularly required to learn dance routines as Finn Hudson on Glee. Cory was on Conan O’Brien last night to promote the continuation of Glee, which comes back tonight.
He admitted that he doesn’t think he’s very good at busting a move so when he goes to clubs he does what he calls “tiny dancing,” which has nothing to do with Elton John. The dance includes a subtle Roxbury head nod and a couple shoulder shrugs. Judging from his moves in the above gif, I don’t blame him for holding back!
As if I wasn’t excited enough for Glee’s return on April 10, they had to go and tease one of the upcoming songs and it’s a good one: Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know.” When I first saw the clip I was worried that this dud was Blaine’s ex-boyfriend or something, which would be a major punch in the gut to Kurt. Not to worry though, the scene features White Collar’s Matt Bomer as Blaine’s seemingly estranged older brother. The duet also includes flashbacks to their past.
Apparently the song selection played a role in Bomer agreeing to do the show, as he told TVLine: ”I had heard the Gotye song and I asked [series co-creator] Ryan [Murphy] if he ever thought of using that as a duet on the show. And he said he had. And then a week later I got a text from him asking me if I wanted to come on the show to sing it.”
Things have been happening very fast for Fun. After holding a #1 spot on iTunes and getting their song on Glee, life is good. Even with all the hype, the band is approaching the success with a refreshing amount of modesty. As Nate tells us in this interview, The Baha Men also had a #1 single. In part 1 of this very candid conversation, he talks about his initial reaction to being on Glee and the emotional roller coaster that comes with being on top of the charts.
A judge ended Lindsay Lohan’s supervised probation this morning meaning it’s time to
drink and party stay indoors and consider prospective scripts.
Lindsay was released after completing her required community service and ending five years of criminal court appearances and jail stints.
“I just want to say thank you for being fair. It’s really opened a lot of doors for me,” Lindsay said in court.
The judge, Stephanie Sautner told the actress that she wouldn’t give a lecture but reminded her that she’ll remain on informal probation until May 2014, for taking a necklace without permission last year. “You need to live your life in a more mature way, stop the nightclubbing and focus on your work,” Sautner said.
In the meantime, Lindsay’s already booked a gig on Glee. She’s rumoured to be playing herself as a celebrity judge at one of the singing competitions. Her music expertise is based on her oh-so-successful singing career. [Source]
I hope Glee redeems itself when it returns on April 10, because I have to admit, I’ve been underwhelmed this season. I feel like Glee lost some of its original heart because everything became way too unbelievable.
Take for example, the season three winter finale “On My Way.” David Karofsky attempting suicide as a result of homophobic bullying is a relevant and emotional plot. Quinn getting into a car accident for texting and driving is genius because a lot of young people are still reckless on the road. Finn and Rachel getting married, well, that story sucks.
The point is, all these story lines are pretty good on their own, but when they collide into one episode it becomes too unbelievable. It then falls into the goliath, sensational trap that soapy teen shows like 90210 fall into. Can you actually imagine Rachel saying in her future: “Ah yes, the day Finn and I got married in high school was eventful. We had regionals just after Karofsky tried to commit suicide and my best friend went into the ER for a car accident.” Nuh uh.
While I don’t want Quinn to die, I hope they don’t use this plot as a reason for her stay back another year from her Ivy league dreams… Though the real reason would be so that we could conveniently keep her for another year after our favourite characters graduate.
That said, it looks like Glee has a lot of interesting guest stars next season, including (drumroll) Lindsay Lohan. I just hope the show doesn’t rush through some of the most topical story lines as it has in the past.

Again?! Really ladies, come on! The newest celebrity to have her cellphone hacked is Heather Morris, who plays Britney on Glee. The photo above is the tamest of the bunch, as there are other snaps of her completely nude.
Celebrities are more susceptible to hackers attacking their phone. We just saw Christina Hendricks and Olivia Munn go through a similar photo scandal a couple weeks ago. Both of those celebrities claimed at least some of the leaked photos were fake. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of Morris’ full body shots were also tampered with.
In 2010, revealing photos of Morris at a professional modeling shoot were posted online, but the star handled it well.
“I kind of thought it might happen,”she said the Extra. “I understand completely where it came from. For me, I think they are beautiful. It’s not something I’m ashamed of. Everybody should do tasteful beautiful nudes, so when you get older you’re gonna be like, ‘Oh, that’s when my body looked so great!’
If you think flash mobs are only for young people, you’re totally wrong.
Senior citizens of Lawrence, Kansas danced around to Glee’s cover of “Last Christmas” at their local department store. Wearing festive sweaters, they performed using their strollers and cut-out hearts to charm their fellow shoppers.
At the end of the video you can even see reactions from those in the store. One woman called it “special.” It’s a heart-warming video to watch, especially if you’re away from your grandparents this Christmas season.
Arguably the most hated church in America, best known for protesting gay funerals, appears to have mastered the art of hypocrisy.
During a recent protest, one of the picketers from The Westboro Baptist Church was captured wearing a Glee t-shirt. When asked about her outfit, the
idiot ’protestor’ claimed that she had no idea what Glee was and the shirt belonged to her sister.
Since it started Glee has been a prominent supporter of gay rights and features many plot lines about homosexuality. Let’s hope the
morons good people over at WBC follow suit and continue to encourage this type of progressive behaviour.
It’s safe to say the Westboro Baptist Church was sufficiently #pwned today. The only thing that could have improved this photo is if Chris Colfer had of showed up and gave the thumbs up himself.
Thus, let it be known, The Westboro Baptist Church are Glee fans. No matter how many homophobic signs they paint, deep down they’re huge supporters of the show.
Scoreboard: Pop-culture 1, Westboro Baptist Church 0.
The hunka-hunka burning love that is Chord Overstreet from that popular show “Glee” has released his first single.
As posted on Just Jarred, the song is called “Beautiful Girl” and it was obviously written about me (just kidding!). The 22-year-old actor/singer just finished this song in the studio this weekend.
In 2012 he says he’ll be focusing more on his music. I’ll be focusing more on his inpeccable abs. But, Chord isn’t the only member of the Overstreet family that’s dabbling in music. His older brother Nash plays in Hot Chelle Rae and his father Paul is a country singer.
Have a listen to “Beautiful Girl” below.
Nerds rejoice! Star Wars is joining forces with “Glee” this coming season.
US Magazine writes the special holiday episode of the hit show “Glee” will air next Tuesday.
Matthew Morrison recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and said George Lucas gave permission to fly Chewbacca in for a taping of the show.
“It’s a throwback and a tribute to the Star Wars holiday special and the Judy Garland Christmas special,” Matthew explains the upcoming episode.
The Glee stars didn’t let an opportunity for a photo-op with Chewie pass by. Chris Colfer who plays Kurt is posing with the furry wookie in the photo above.
Hot off his split from wife Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher steps out on the red carpet with a nice suit, a smile and a hot, younger co-star.
While many rumour are swirling of Demi allegedly already moving on with another man, Ashton’s not afraid to be seem flirting with “New Year’s Eve” costar Lea Michele.
The “Glee” actress was rocking a very low cut metallic dress and a whole lot of double sided tape. Is it just me or does she look like Demi Moore but only 30 years younger? I’m just thankful that Ashton finally got rid of that half-assed beard.
Do the two stars, who played each others love interests in the film, look like they’re more than friends at the premiere? Are they pulling a Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson and only pretending to go out so they can promote the movie? Check out all the photos from the saucy red carpet at Oh No They Didn’t.
The estranged father of 19-year-old singer and actress Charice Pempengco was stabbed to death in his hometown in the Philippines. The teen star, who was dubbed “The Most Talented Girl in the World” by none other than Oprah, had to pull out of a concert in Singapore when she got the horrible news.
She tweeted: “I have to go back to the Philippines as soon as possible to be with my family. I hope you all understand. I love you all and I will see you next year.”
From what The Associated Press is reporting, Charice hasn’t seen her father, construction worker Ricky Pempengo, for many years. According to local police, Ricky was stabbed with an ice pick after getting in a fight with a drunk man on the street.
We can’t imagine what Charice is going through right now. We send our condolences to her and her family. Watch the last interview we did with Charice here.
Since landing the role of Finn on the hit show Glee, everyone wants a piece of Cory Monteith, even football players.
CTV explains the Chairman of the Safeway Grey Cup Festival Parade has appointed Cory as the Grand Marshall taking place around the end of November in his home province of British Columbia.
What exactly is a Grand Marshall, you ask? Well, we don’t really know! We do know it’s the highest honorary postion at a parade. Maybe Cory will be donning a football uniform while holding a baton?
Cory released a statement saying: “I love any excuse to come home and this is a thrilling one.”
Jonah Hill told Jimmy Fallon that he and Glee’s Matthew Morrison were at a FOX meeting promoting their shows, and Morrison was picking on Jonah.
“I’ve got it in my head that I don’t like this guy. I am sure he is a good human being, but you don’t throw a dude under the bus,” Hill said. “He’s a big timer at Fox and I’m the new kid.”
Morrison responded last night through a video on Jimmy Fallon. ”Oh hey, Jimmy, what’s up?” Morrison says to the camera after telling the joke. “I heard that Jonah said I should bring my sh– next time. Well, guess what? This is next time. You think I can’t sing my way out of this?”
Morrison begins dancing around the “Glee” set, with this message for Hill: “I can sing my way out of it and I can dance my way out of it. Pick a date and I will meet you on ‘Late Night’ and we will settle this like men.”
Anne Hathaway still wants to be on Glee. She spoke about it to PopSugar.
“I’m planning on it,” Hathaway said about her guest role as Kurt’s aunt on ‘Glee.’ “I don’t know if they’re planning on it.”
Hathaway saw Ryan Murphy at the Golden Globes, where they had a small conversation about having her on the show.
“Ryan Murphy goes, ‘Anne Hathaway! Come on ‘Glee.’ And I said, ‘Yes!’ and he said ‘Fab, I’ll call you,’” Hathaway said.
After the Globes, Hathaway said Murphy was telling reporters it was a done deal.
“He went back to the press room and said, ‘Anne Hathaway is going to be on the show,’ and that became like a news event,” she said.
“She created her own character, and we ran into her, and I said ‘Really?’ and she said ‘Yes!’ so we’re going to do that,” Murphy told E! Online. “We love her.”
This happened in January. So what’s taking so long?
“And I never heard from him again [laughs]. Ryan Murphy, I’m calling you out: I want to be on ‘Glee.’ I’ve got my songs picked out,” Hathaway said.
Why do you think Ryan Murphy is stalling?
