Amber Heard Comes Out

Radar Online is reporting that actress Amber Heard came out of the closet this weekend at the GLAAD 25^th anniversary bash.

The Zombieland actress walked down the red carpet with her partner of two years, Tasya van Ree, in their first public appearance together as an openly gay couple. Van Ree is a well-known photographer and artist.

“I think GLAAD is one of the many reasons that I, as a 24-year-old, can come out,” Amber explained. She was inspired to come out after the recent political turmoil involving LGBT Americans.

When asked about van Ree, Amber said. “She is beautiful. I mean, you’d have to be crazy not to want to go out with her!”

They certainly look like a happy couple! Congrats!

Lady Gaga and Adam Lambert both nominated for GLAAD Award

This is going to be a tight race! MTV is reporting that Lady Gaga and Adam Lambert are both nominated for Outstanding Music Artist at the The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation 21st annual GLAAD awards. Other nominees for the award include Brandi Carlile, Gossip and Otep. The nominees will be honoured and awarded throughout three ceremonies taking place from March to June in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation claims ABC is treating Adam Lambert with a double standard, reports E! News.

Following the former American Idol contestant’s controversial performance at the American Music Awards, the network announced it was cancelling three upcoming performances by Lambert. He will not appear as scheduled on Jimmy Kimmel Live or Dick Clark’s New Years Rockin’ Eve because the network claims his performance at the American Music Awards differed greatly from what was rehearsed. However, Lambert will be performing on The View and will be named one of Barbara Walters’ 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009.

“We appreciate ABC’s commitment to gay and transgender inclusion in other programming,” said Jarrett Barrios, president of GLAAD. “However, let us be clear that GLAAD remains steadfast in our assertion that Adam Lambert is being subjected to a double standard by ABC as an openly gay performer. We do not support ABC cancelling Adam Lambert’s past and future performances. We urge the community to reach out to ABC and express their concerns that Adam Lambert is being subjected to a double standard.”

Lambert has admitted that his performance may have crossed a line.

Adamo Gets Lots of Love at Glaad Awards

Canadian “Degrassi” star Adamo Ruggiero was so popular at the GLAAD awards on Saturday, he may have even made Rufus Wainwright jealous.

The crowd went so wild when Adamo took to the stage to speak about his decision to come out of the closet, that when Wainwright was accepting the Stephen F Kolzak Award later in the evening, he said, “I’m giving up my music career and taking up a role on Degrassi.”

The crowd also went nuts when “Degrassi” was announced in its category, though it lost the award to “Brothers and Sisters.”

Ruggiero made the bold decision to come out earlier this year. The 22-year-old has received much praise for his courage, especially considering that there are many stars who, even later in life, refuse to admit their homosexuality.
