It’s official: ABC has officially picked up Girl Meets World which means more Cory and Topanga on our TV screens!
One second. Sorry, just needed that wave of nostalgia to pass momentarily.
Boy Meets World’s Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fisher) will return in the new series that will focus on the life of their daughter Riley ( 10-year-old Rowan Blanchard) and her best friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter).
The show will take place in New York where Cory and Topanga’s daughter is currently attending middle school. This is the same middle school where Cory is working as a history teacher, according to USAToday. In perfect Topanga-fashion, she’s doing something off-beat as she owns an after-school gathering place where pudding is their specialty.
The spin-off was created by Michael Jacobs and April Kelly, the minds behind Boy Meets World. Production of Girl Meets World is set to begin this summer in Los Angeles.
An official release date has not disclosed but it is scheduled to premiere in 2014 so stay tuned. You do not want to miss this.
ANDPOP has been on the development of this show since it was first announced, so naturally we counted down greatest moments and other aspects of our favourite Disney show Boy Meets World.

The much anticipated Girl Meets World is the bearer of more good news.
We already know Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel are reprising their roles, and that Rowan Blanchard has already been cast as their daughter Riley. What we didn’t know, was that Cory and Topanga will also have a son.
TVLine reports that Teo Halm is casted as the pairs son, Elliott. I wonder if Elliott will be similar to Cory’s siblings. Will Elliott be like Eric or Morgan? I guess we will have to wait to see.
The more Boy Meets World spinoff news we get, the more I can’t wait to see Cory, Topanga, and the gang on my screen. Just imagine all the disciplining Cory is going to do, and all the times HIS parents will look at him and remind him what he was like as a child. Without a doubt, I expect a lot of great Boy Meets World references from the spinoff.
I also want to see Uncle Eric and Uncle Shawn. No shame.
Here is Teo Halm, the face of Cory and Topanga’s son. Do you think he accurately represents what the pairs son would look like?

We asked ourselves that same question, so we decided to do a baby morph to see what their baby would look like.
Now that you have seen who has been casted versus the undeniably accurate medical representation of what Cory and Topanga’s offspring would look like, it is up to you to decide.
Looking at the pictures, it looks like the nose, eyes, ears, and jaw line are all pretty accurate.
Casting: you’re doing it right.
All us 90′s kids were filled with excitement (and possibly a little dread) when we heard that Boy Meets World‘s creator Michael Jacobs was going forward with the show’s spin-off, Girl Meets World. Something tells me that the majority of the people who will watch this show will be nostalgic 20-30 year olds, opposed to the target pre-teen audiences. Who’s complaining? Not me.

Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel will resume roles their roles as Cory and Topanga, parents to Riley Mathews, as played by 11-year-old Rowan Blanchard. Her friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) has been casted as Riley’s best friend.
Jacob’s told Entertainment Weekly the show will follow Riley as she struggles to grow up and yes, we can expect to see some familiar faces. By the way, I just might die when Uncle Eric shows up… or even Uncle Shawn for that matter. Jacobs also mentioned that Riley will be more like one parent than the other, however traits of the other parent will kick in every now and then.

Jacobs also let it spill that Cory and Topanga will still not be perfect and will struggle with their relationship every now and then. I am seriously excited for more Cory/Topanga cuteness and hilarity.

Let’s be real – we all just want to see Mr. Feeny have to endure teaching another Matthews. Did we really believe Feeny would retire?

In the world of celebrity news, there’s no shortage of hits and misses. This week, Cory and Topanga will join Girl Meets World and Chris Brown fans get a little out of hand on Twitter.
HIT: Cory and Topanga Officially Join Boy Meets World Spinoff

Ben Savage (a.k.a. Cory Matthews) and Danielle Fishel (Topanga) have officially confirmed that they will be involved in Girl Meets World. As a long time fan (my family has most of Boy Meets World on DVD), there are a couple things I would like to see: Mr. Feeny, the crazy version of Cory’s older brother Eric (circa the college years), and Mr. Feeny. Unfortunately for Shawn Hunter fans, Rider Strong confirmed on his website that he will not be part of the new series. (As of now, anyways. There’s still time!)
MISS: Twitter Death Threats Post-Chris Brown Twitter Account Deletion

Since I’ve already discussed my feelings towards Chris Brown here, I’d like to point out another thing that bothered me about the whole Chris Brown debacle: the resulting death threats from Team Breezy to comedian Jenny Johnson. While it’s not something that only plagues the Chris Brown fanbase, it is the most recent flurry of despicable internet behavior. Just because one’s favourite figure has done something (in this case, Brown quitting Twitter) doesn’t give anyone the right to be sending messages to whomever is being accused of causing that action (Johnson). We also must remember the difference between criticism and pure, unadulterated hatred. The internet can be wonderful with its cats but can turn very dark and vitriolic as we’ve seen countless of times in the case of online bully. So, dear internet readers, let’s try to think before we tweet death threats even if they’re supposedly “meaningless” because, let’s face it, they never are.
HIT: Liz and Dick Twitter Jokes
While one half of the Twitter population was going nuts over Chris Brown, the other half tried to stoically the Lifetime movie Liz and Dick starring Lindsay Lohan. Again, I did say try but it didn’t take long for a flurry of tweets to reach my phone alerting me to how bad Liz and Dick was. Between the tweets and this montage of the movie’s worst lines, it may just be 2012’s answer to The Room. Considering The Room’s cult success (there’s a movie theatre in Ottawa that plays it at least once a month), being bad isn’t a terrible thing. While Lohan may be further away from an Oscar than ever before, she is one step closer to being a phenomenon (if we don’t count her reoccurring tabloid roles, that is).

Kids of the ’90s, prepare to celebrate.
Because word on the street is, Disney’s in early talks to develop a remake of Boy Meets World , the classic coming-of-age sitcom that melted our hearts between 1993 and 2001.
According to TVLine, The Disney Channel is planning on a sequel series called, Girl Meets World, which will focus on the pre-teen daughter of Cory and Topanga (aka BEST COUPLE EVER). And because the show is only at its early stages, sources are saying that the cable network is trying to land original series stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel to reprise their roles!! However, no word yet on whether Cory’s best friend Shawn (Rider Strong) or brother Eric (Will Friedle) will be coming back.
Fans of the show will remember the couple getting married during the college years and moving to New York City so Topanga can live out her dream of being a lawyer. And while her and Cory may already have a happy-ever-after, it’ll be awesome to see what their daughter will be like!!
What do you think?? Personally, the 90s kid in me is freaking out with excitement. So for good measure, here’s the theme song!
