It’s about damn time Coldplay and Rihanna released their music video for “Princess of China” considering how many photos and teasers they threw our way. Thankfully it was worth the wait.
We already knew RiRi would look like a gangsta goth geisha (since she tweeted a photo) but the continuation of these nail rings that look like gold eagle talons is slightly concerning.
The best part of the entire video is when Chris Martin and Rihanna kneel in front of each other on the sand and stare into each other’s eyes with this quiet desperation that doesn’t seem completely staged. They’re mourning the loss of their love.
Other than that hawt almost-makeup sesh, I love when the two fighters leap into the air in slow-mo armed with their samurai swords, wearing light, flowy clothes. We don’t see an actual battle but my bet would be on Rihanna because that girl is super tough.
This is the fourth single off Coldplay’s fifth studio album Mylo Xyloto.
