Debuting on FX Network on Jan. 14, is “Archer” – a satirical, animated comedy fusing the spy thriller worlds of James Bond and Jason Bourne with that of Austin Powers.
The series is set in the confines of the International Secret Intelligence Service (ISIS), a spy agency where espionage and global crises are merely opportunities for its highly trained employees to confuse, undermine, betray and royally screw each other.
Sterling Archer (H. Jon Benjamin), the protagonist of the series, must juggle his numerous romantic liaisons, his ex-girlfriend/fellow agent, Lana Kane (Aisha Tyler), the jealousy of ISIS comptroller, Cyril Figgis (Chris Parnell), and his mother, Malory Archer (Jessica Walter).
Joseph Fiennes’ dabble into television is over before it began.
Fiennes was the lead in “Nip/Tuck” creator Ryan Murphy’s new show, “Pretty/Handsome.” He played a family man who decided to get a sex change.
Though the show also co-starred Blythe Danner and was being co-produced by Brad Pitt, the pilot, which was developed for FX, failed to impress, says the Hollywood Reporter. FX passed on it in March, and though it was shopped around to other outlets, it was unsuccessful.
Another co-star of the show, Christopher Egan, has already been cast in a new NBC show, “Kings.”

William Hurt has been cast for the upcoming season of “Damages,” which stars his “Chill” co-star Glenn Close. He will play Close’s client.
FX made the announcement yesterday, pointing out that this will be Hurts first ever regular role on a weekly television series.
“We believe ‘Damages’ has one of the finest ensemble casts anywhere on television, and the fact that an actor the calibre of William Hurt has joined the cast speaks to the quality of the series,” said a rep for FX. “It will be great watching him and Glenn Close work together again.”
Hurt can currently be seen in “The Incredible Hulk.”
Courtney Cox’s show “Dirt” is getting buried, reports TV Guide.
“It just got cancelled,” she told the crowd at a recent benefit.
Though the show was popular in its first season, the second season was cut short by the writer’s strike, and FX has not picked it up for a third.
The former “Friends” star seemed optimistic about the future with her husband and partner, David Arquette. “We’re developing all kinds of stuff right now,” she said. “We’ll producing more stuff together, for sure.”
