Although the Haiti relief effort has lost some attention from the media in recent weeks, this still remains a serious humanitarian issue. To help raise funds, CP Records had some amazing Canadian Urban artists perform a benefit concert to help raise money. We had a chance to speak to Choclair, Karl Wolf, Danny Fernandes, and Belly who all performed at the event.

Looking for a way to give back to Haiti but not sure how?

Look no further. On Tuesday, February 2, Jezebel Burlesque and andPOP will be hosting Get Your Heart on for Haiti.

The night will be packed with some amazing local music, including The Godfrey Medicine Show, Anne Crawley, and Blackie Jacket Jr., while DJ Greg Goldsack spins out some killer beats.

Access to the event will through donations at the door, all of which will be given to The Canadian Red Cross Haiti Earthquake Relief. This money will help the near one million people whose lives have been torn apart by the destructive 7.0 magnitude earthquake.

Come out to Jezebel Burlesque for a night of amazing music and make a difference in the lives of the Haitian people.

Alexisonfire Jumps on Haiti Bandwagon

Wade McNeil, guitarist/vocalist of Alexisonfire, stated that his band will be taking an extra step to help those in need in Haiti.

The statement is as follows:

“In light of the recent tragedy in Haiti, we [Alexisonfire] have been thinking about how to help. With a disaster of this magnitude, we feel the easiest way for us to get involved is by donating money.

This will help get clean water, sanitation and medical supplies, food, and temporary shelter to the people who need it the most in Jacmel and Port-au-Prince. We will be donating all the proceeds from our online store for the month of January to the relief effort.”

George Clooney Wants Twilight Stars for Telethon

George Clooney is holding a telethon Jan. 22 to raise disaster relief funds for those affected by the recent earthquake in Haiti, reports E! News. Sources say organizers are planning to ask Twilightstars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner to participate.

“She’d jump at the chance to do something to help,” said a source close to Stewart. However, the star is scheduled to be traveling to the Sundance Film Festival to promote Welcome to the Rileys and The Runaways during the telethon.

The telethon was initially slated to air only on MTV, but ABC, NBC, HBO and CNN have all said they will show it as well.

Selena Gomez Raises Money For UNICEF

Selena Gomez is a philanthropic pop princess.

According to perezhilton.com, The Wizards of Waverly Place star recently returned from a trip to Ghana, where she was visiting the West African country as part of her duty as an ambassador for UNICEF. Gomez is the youngest-ever agent in the foundations history.

“I got to meet teens, I got to meet children, I got to meet families… It was completely life-changing and eye-opening,” said Gomez on her travels.

Selena, who hopes to earn $1 million for the foundation by the year’s end, has gladly taken on the role as an inspiration for both friends and fans alike.

“…I feel very honored to have a voice that kids listen to and take into consideration,” Gomez graciously admitted. “I had people on my tour asking me where IS Ghana, and they Googled it … and because I went there, they now know where Ghana is. So it’s pretty incredible.”
