Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette Most Likely Back for More ‘Screams’

Wes Craven recently spoke to MTV and suggested that Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette will all star in another ‘Scream’ movie.

The horror movie director said at least two more films are planned for the franchise following the recent release of ‘Scream 4,’ which was a huge hit among fans and critics alike, and that the “core characters” played by Campbell, Cox and Arquette will most likely appear in future installments.

“I imagine the core characters will continue. I suspect they’ll be with us until the end, because they just are the heart and soul of the movie and especially since we tend to kill off most of the other people,” the horror filmmaker said. And we love him for it. Who doesn’t love a good death?

“They’ll be with us. There will be some continuation of the drama of Sidney Prescott’s family and the ghosts that haunt it.”

I’m so happy by this news. Not only am I happy that they’ve successfully rebooted this franchise, but I am happy that they are staying true to the originals while adding fun, modern twists. I loved ‘Scream 4,’ so I can only imagine the amazingness that will come in future sequels. Fun, screams, blood, and more screams – what more can one ask for?

Jackie Earle Haley is trading in his ink-blot mask for a pair of pointy metals claws.

Haley, who brought the vigilante superhero Rorschach to life in this year’s comic-book adaptation “Watchmen,” will star as Freddy Krueger in the upcoming relaunch of “A Nightmare on Elm Street.”

The iconic role was played by Robert Englund in the 1984 original, which revolved around an undead predator who attacks his victims through their dreams. The Wes Craven-directed flick spawned seven other films, including the 2003 crossover movie “Freddy vs. Jason,” before New Line decided last year to revive the franchise.

The movie will begin shooting in Chicago next month.

A former child actor, Haley received an Oscar nomination for his supporting role in 2006′s “Little Children.” He is working on the Fox TV pilot “Human Target” and will next appear opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in the mystery drama “Shutter Island,” directed by Martin Scorsese.

Catherine Hardwicke Will Not Direct Another ‘Twilight’ Movie

Although “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke has been replaced for the “New Moon” sequel, some fans have held out hope that she would return to helm the third or fourth movie in the teen-vampire franchise.

Unfortunately for those fans, Hardwicke recently shot down the possibility of directing any future “Twilight” installments in an interview with MTV. “I think it’s healthier to have a new person do [each one],” she said.

“I’ve loved all the different directors that did the ‘Harry Potter’ [films], because each one had their own cool style and energy, so I think that’s good. And I’m moving on to other projects.”

Hardwicke also expressed her confidence in “New Moon” director Chris Weitz. “Although I don’t know him personally, I’ve heard he’s really excited and just diving in,” she said.

Although she avoided the use of computer-generated imagery in “Twilight,” she told MTV that she didn’t share fan concerns about Weitz using it for Bella’s “New Moon” cliff dive, citing the director’s previous experience with CGI in “The Golden Compass.”

Hardwicke penned a book about her experience helming the first film, “Twilight Director’s Notebook: The Story of How We Made the Movie,” which recently hit store shelves. The director has also signed on to direct the supernatural drama “If I Stay” and is in talks to direct “Maximum Ride,” based on James Patterson’s five-volume fantasy series.
