Watchmen Star Goes To Elm Street

Jackie Early HaleyJackie Earle Haley is trading in his ink-blot mask for a pair of pointy metals claws.

Haley, who brought the vigilante superhero Rorschach to life in this year’s comic-book adaptation “Watchmen,” will star as Freddy Krueger in the upcoming relaunch of “A Nightmare on Elm Street.”

The iconic role was played by Robert Englund in the 1984 original, which revolved around an undead predator who attacks his victims through their dreams. The Wes Craven-directed flick spawned seven other films, including the 2003 crossover movie “Freddy vs. Jason,” before New Line decided last year to revive the franchise.

Catherine Hardwicke Will Not Direct Another ‘Twilight’ Movie

Twilight CastAlthough “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke has been replaced for the “New Moon” sequel, some fans have held out hope that she would return to helm the third or fourth movie in the teen-vampire franchise.

Unfortunately for those fans, Hardwicke recently shot down the possibility of directing any future “Twilight” installments in an interview with MTV. “I think it’s healthier to have a new person do [each one],” she said.

“I’ve loved all the different directors that did the ‘Harry Potter’ [films], because each one had their own cool style and energy, so I think that’s good. And I’m moving on to other projects.”
