Homegrown Folk singers were honoured Saturday night at the Canadian Folk Music Awards.

Blue Rodeo accompanist Anne Lindsay and the Creaking Tree String Quartet took home two awards each, CBC reports.

Lindsay won best solo instrumentalist for her album News From Up the Street and also captured honours for producer-of-the-year.

Toronto group Creaking Tree String Quartet won for best instrumentalist group and also won the “pushing the boundaries” prize.

Winnipeg band the Duhks, who were nominated for a Grammy Award earlier this year picked up best contemporary album.

Oh Susanna, Roots country artist, won for best English songwriter and Hugo Fleury of the late Quebec City group Polemil Bazar received the best French songwriter award.

CBC radio personality Shelagh Rogers hosted the show which was originated in 2005.
