On Sunday, Fox’s ‘Animation Domination’ was supposed to be a crossover event, with a hurricane sweeping through Family Guy, American Dad and The Cleveland Show. But in wake of the deadly storms that ripped through the South this week, Fox decided to pull the episodes from the schedule. Repeats of the shows will air in their place, with the crossover event shifted to next season. Really, they are still going to air them?

“In light of the recent storms that have affected the nation, Fox has decided to postpone the crossover episodes that were originally scheduled to air this Sunday,” the network said in a statement. Seth McFarlane and his team had written the episodes over a year ago, but they agreed to hold them after consulting with Fox.

McFarlane is known for controversial plotlines in his shows, touching on just about every sensitive issue from abortion to politics, but in this case he was willing to put it off.

I’m sure the episodes aren’t intentionally super insensitive and horrible, but it seems like so many natural disasters are happening today that it’s bound to be offensive to someone. The smart move, to me, would be to pull the episodes all together instead of re-runing them at a later time. But, hey, I don’t run Fox.

It seems like the most appropriate way to celebrate this momentous event.

Sunday’s episode of the Fox animated series has raised some concerns (that’s putting it mildly) from a parent’s group that feels the show stepped over the line. During the last episode, Brian and Stewie are stuck in a bank vault when Stewie makes a crap in his diaper. Stewie then convinces Brian to eat the crap, then convinces him to clean his bottom using his tongue. Now there goes your lunch! If that’s not enough, there is another scene when one eats the other’s vomit.

This scene has caught the attention of The Parents Television Council who feel that broadcast laws have been broken.

“Given the patently offensive depictions of one character eating excrement out of a diaper, then eating vomit, and finally licking the remaining excrement from a baby’s bottom — while the baby expresses physical gratification from having his bottom licked — we believe that the broadcast decency law has been broken,” PTC President Tim Winter said.

The PTC is calling on concerned parents to boycott the show’s sponsors.

“We will also hold publicly accountable the corporate sponsors which underwrote this feces-eating broadcast, ironically a number of which were restaurants.”

You have to hand it to MacFarlane and his crew as they aren’t stupid. They purposely push the limit at every opportunity, create controversy, and get more people watching.

News reports that Seth Green is no longer a bachelor! The Family Guy star is officially engaged to actress/model Clare Grant.

A close friend of Green told E! News that the couple were engaged on New Year’s Eve and they plan to wed in May. Let’s hope Family Guy keeps paying out those big salaries in order to support his new family. And let’s not forget his ongoing crush with Sloan from Entourage. Green better keep that in check!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox’s new 13-episode pickup means the show is on tap for a total of 35 episodes so far.

Due to debut in fall 2009, the animated comedy will revolve around the “Family Guy” character Cleveland Brown, voiced by Mike Henry (also an executive producer on the show).

Other voice talent will include show creator/executive producer Seth MacFarlane, Sanaa Lathan and Nia Long. Arianna Huffington is also slated have a recurring role.

Fox was originally eyeing a spring debut for “Cleveland,” but in November the network decided to premiere the show in the fall so that the creative team would have more time for development and production, THR reports.

The recent 13-episode pickup will help ensure the creative team stays intact and, given the long lead time in animation, means there will be new episodes ready for the 2010-11 season.

The “Hills” star will appear as herself on the May 3 episode of the Fox sitcom, joining the ranks of such past guest stars as Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Love Hewitt and the cast of “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”

Posted on andPOP:

Vampires and zombies are set to duke it out on the big screen, courtesy of a “Family Guy” showrunner.

David A. Goodman, an executive producer and occasional writer for the Fox animated sitcom, has signed on to pen a movie adaptation of the horror comic “Last Blood.”

Created by Bobby and Chris Crosby, the Blatant Comics series was launched in 2006 and revolves around a group of humans who survive a zombie attack and find themselves protected by vampires who need to live off their blood.

The comic can be viewed online for free at the official Last Blood website.

Benderspink, the company behind such films as “The Ring” and “A History Of Violence,” will produce the movie.

Besides his work on “Family Guy,” the Emmy-nominated Goodman has written for several other TV series including “The Golden Girls,” “Wings,” “Futurama” and “Star Trek: Enterprise.”

He recently scripted a remake of the 1978 comedy “Who Is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe?”

Posted on andPOP:

Peter Griffin is now a millionaire.

Seth MacFarlane, the creator and voice behind the “Family Guy” anti-hero, has just signed a deal with 20th Century Fox which makes him the highest paid writer-producer in television.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, MacFarlane could be making up to $100 million for his work on “Family Guy,” its new spinoff “The Cleveland Show” and “American Dad.” He also has a multicamera comedy in the works.

“I get a lot of pleasure out of making shows,” MacFarlane said. “It’s a bonus to be getting paid well for it, and it’s a double bonus to be getting paid exorbitantly for it.”

The pact keeps MacFarlane at Fox until at least 2012. Though none of parties involved would release exact details of the deal, a Fox chairman commented that “no one will ever have to offer Seth a handout of any kind.”

That’s not the only thing MacFarlane has going for him. He is reportedly dating “Buffy” hottie Eliza Dushku.

But the writer refuses to believe fate saved his life, insisting alcohol deserves all the credit.

MacFarlance tells Penthouse magazine, “I was very, very hung over. I was running about an hour late . . . Yes, alcohol saves lives.

“We need to feel that something was meant to be. It’s a lot of horses**t.

“I’ve missed other fights. This is not the first flight I missed for being a little too party-hearty the night before.”

Posted on andPOP:

The U.S. based Parent Television Council, a media regulatory committee, released its list of the ten best and worst family shows Wednesday.

The worst list included six shows from Fox alone, with Family Guy, American Dad and The War at Home rounding out the top three.

The president of PTC, L. Brent Bozell, told the Associated Press he was alarmed that these shows are being advertised as family friendly.

?Families should not be deceived,” he said. “The top three worst shows all contain crude and raunchy dialogue with sex-themed jokes and foul language. Even worse is the fact that Hollywood is peddling its filth to families with cartoons.”

Other shows getting the PTC stamp of disapproval include the hugely successful Desperate Housewives, The O.C., and That 70s Show.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, those getting the seal of approval include Three Wishes, American Idol, and the undeniably wholesome, but painfully boring, Seventh Heaven.

What a difference a year makes. Family Guy is not just back on the air with all new episodes (even after it was cancelled twice), but a Family Guy movie is just under two months away from being released on DVD.

“Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story” will feature the hilarious talking baby on his quest to find his real father.

Details may be lost if paraphrased, so here is the official description straight from Fox of the movie’s synopsis:

In this exclusive DVD premiere, Stewie, the maniacal baby genius, is distracted from his plans for world domination when he sees a man who looks just like him on television. Convinced that this man must be his real father (after all, how could he possibly share genetic material with the dimwitted Peter?), Stewie sets off on a cross-country road trip to find him. But his incredible journey leads him to discoveries far more vile and shocking than anything found in his diaper.

Also available on the DVD will be deleted scenes, commentary, still galleries, and animatics.

This is the DVD everyone has been waiting for, and will be a must-own. It hits stores on September 27.

andPOP will have continuous updates until the release, including contests. Keep checking back.

Posted on andPOP:

“This Just In…”

For all those fans who follow the Griffin family exploits in Quahog, there is a new reason to get excited.

The wonderful folks at Fox and “Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane are preparing a direct-to-DVD movie based on the adventures of his cartoon family for a Sept. 27 release, according to Reuters and Hollywood Reporter.

The 83-minute, unrated “Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story” is based on the animated series that MacFarlane created for Fox Television in the late 1990s. The series went on the air in early 1999 and was canceled in 2003, only to be resurrected last month after an overwhelming demand for the show on DVD, reported Reuters.

The first DVD set sold more than 2.5 million units, the second-highest sales tally of any TV-DVD release behind the first season of “Chappelle’s Show,” reported Reuters.

Reuters says that this film will be MacFarlane’s first full-length feature, and the first direct-to-video ever made off a television franchise.

“Fox had such a great amount of success with the previous DVD releases that I think they felt there was a built-in, surefire market for a ‘Family Guy’ DVD,” he told Reuters. “It’s also a lot easier to put out a DVD release than it is a theatrical film while you’re doing a television series.”

“Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story” tells the story of Stewie, the weapon-toting baby genius, having a near-death experience that prompts him to change his ways, says Reuters. Instead of seeking to dominate the world, he sets out on a road trip to find his real father.

Guest vocal talent includes Drew Barrymore and Ron Livingston, as well as three cast members of “Beverly Hills, 90210″ — Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling — “in a special gag,” MacFarlane told Reuters.

Reuters also reports that the DVD will include several special features, including deleted scenes, still galleries, animatics and a commentary from MacFarlane.
