Bono Will Be The World’s Richest Rockstar, Thanks to Facebook

Mark Zuckerberg may have a lot of friends – U2′s Bono being one of them and his stake in the Facebook stock will soon make him the richest rockstar on the planet.

The Dublin band’s frontman might not have a crucial role in the founding role of Facebook, though Zuckerberg may “like” U2, but his private equity firm Elevation Partners owns 1.5 per cent of the shares.

That means he invested about $90 million in 2009 – but, when the social networking site goes public later this year, Bono’s share will be worth about $1 billion. If you think about it, that’s some $300 million more than the current richest rock star, Sir Paul McCartney

For those of you that might think that amount of cheddar is redonkulous – remember how much of Bono’s finances goes to his many charity projects, mostly focused on humanitarian aid in Africa.

Facebook App Lets Dead People Post

In today’s Mega Creepy News, it’s just been announced that a Facebook app will allow those who have died to post on their profile page one last night.

Digital Spy reports Israel-based company, Willoo, created the “If I Die” app that allows individuals to post status updates or upload videos to be played after they pass away.

The app’s website suggests that messages could be “your life story, a secret you haven’t shared before or even a will”. So, rest assured if you get hit by a bus on your way to work, you can tell your mom you’re sorry you never call often and where the spare key is.

Take a look at the infomercial that’s just a wee-bit disturbing, mainly because the narrator’s voice sounds like the Grim Reaper. Something tells me this app won’t really sell much.

Whether we like to admit it or not, most of us spend too much time on Facebook. Sometimes we just update our statuses after eye-numbing hours of scrolling through everyone’s photos and videos and we type the most ridiculous things.

Buzzfeed has compiled 35 of the dumbest Facebook statuses – of course, the full names are hidden – to show many of us type without thinking. There’s only 35 on this list but there’s a whole website dedicated to broadcasting the most stupid statuses: Lamebook.

Here are just a couple of status updates that make almost make you want to give up on Facebook and humanity too.

Nicole Richie Wishes You a Slut Free Halloween

Nicole took to her Facebook page yesterday to beg her female fans to not dress slutty on Halloween anymore. So, if I were you, I’d return that inappropriately low-cut nurses costume for a bear one. Or maybe a shark. Sharks are definitely not slutty.

Apparently, Paris Hilton’s former partner-in-crime isn’t a fan of showing off what her mama gave her anymore. Before marriage and kids, Nicole was quite the wild child. She even flashed an audience at a fashion show. At 30, Richie is sick of dressing provocatively (guess she doesn’t want her kids growing up and being embarrassed of their mother), and all her fans on her Facebook page agree – well, except for the one that wants to be a slutty nun. And maybe Paris Hilton.

Leave it to a singer/actor who starred in a movie about Facebook to come up with ways to refresh MySpace.

The popular social networking site was a huge hit up until 2006 when users flocked to Facebook. Now, Justin Timberlake, who is a Myspace shareholder (and friends with Tom) will spend 2012 brainstorming ways to bring users back.

The Cry Me A River singer told MTV: ”I don’t have anything on my plate other than think-tanking a lot of different ideas for MySpace, which doesn’t require a lot of my literally being present…Seriously, I don’t have anything on my plate for the rest of the year. I am going to take a vacation. I’m going to find out what a vacation really is.”

If anyone can reinvent a lame, redundant website it’s Justin. He’s done a lot of creative things over the last few years, including building an eco-friendly golf course in Tennessee.

If he can bring sexy back, think he can bring MySpace back?

Rebecca Black Facebook Identity Crisis

Rebecca Black is having an identity crisis on Facebook. It turns out there are two Rebecca Blacks, and its creating some confusion.

One of the Rebecca Blacks is the fourteen year old “pop” singer we all know and love. And there is also another Rebecca Black whose a hot bikini model.

Bikini model Rebecca said last week her friends list exploded on Facebook, jumping from 800 to 73,000! Then bikini Rebecca started getting emails from upset fans of singer Rebecca claiming bikini Rebecca was defrauding her name.

TMZ reports bikini Rebecca claims Facebook is at fault, and somehow merged the two accounts.

Too bad her new 73,000 friends aren’t 14 year old boys. Bikini Rebecca would have been a happy accident for them.

Facebook Launches Video Chat Feature

Facebook announced today that they are adding video to their online chat program through a partnership with Skype and it’s available today.

Users who want to add the new feature must download a quick Java file by visiting the video chat page. A new video icon will then appear in chat windows that you simply click and it will connect you via video to that person. The idea behind the feature is to make it simple to operate and easy for non-technical users to participate in video chat. There is no need to create a Skype account as the feature works alongside your existing facebook account.

“No separate accounts, no separate websites to go to,” Philip Su said. “The download is small and easy.”

This feature appears to be part of a larger project happening at Facebook to compete head on with Apple’s Facetime video conferencing application, with rumours swirling about a new Facebook web application dubbed ‘Project Spartan’ that will be released for all mobile and tablet devices later this year.

Shakira Visits Israel Despite Facebook Threats

Despite some backlash from the Palestinian community, Shakira has gone through with her visit to Israel, appearing at a press conference due to her position as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.

A Facebook page was created called “Shakira: Say NO to apartheid and YES to Freedom For Palestine,” which received 1,500 Likes, according to JTA. On the page, a letter states:

“If you attend the Presidential Conference, you will accept that a Palestinian fan of your work living under Israeli occupation will not be allowed by law — and denied by an illegal wall built on annexed private Palestinian land, fences and military checkpoints — the chance to attend it,” the letter said in part.

Wouldn’t it be weird if Shakira was able to negotiate peace in the Middle East? Of all the people in the world, that would be weird. But you never know…..

Beyonce Addresses Album Leak

Beyonce has addressed her fans in regards to her album leaking in its entirety yesterday, reports Billboard.

The singer’s album, ’4,’ was leaked two weeks before it’s scheduled date of July 28. While Beyonce isn’t happy, she is thanking her fans for the positive feedback she’s been receiving.

Beyoncé took to her official Facebook today to address the leak:

“My music was leaked and while this is not how I wanted to present my new songs, I appreciate the positive response from my fans. When I record music I always think about my fans singing every note and dancing to every beat. I make music to make people happy and I appreciate that everyone has been so anxious to hear my new songs.”

The album comes out July 28 and Target stores will carry an exclusive version of the album with extra tracks.

According to my Twitter feed last night, the feedback wasn’t all positive. Many say the album is a little dull, and nothing compared to her lead single ‘Run The World (Girls).’ I don’t really support leaked albums, so I’ll wait for the official one before judging.

Adele Postpones Five Concert Dates

Adele has postponed five of her North American tour dates, reports CTV.

The British singer has had to delay the tour because of laryngitis.

Columbia Records said in a statement that the 23-year-old was diagnosed last Thursday in Minneapolis. Doctors then immediately ordered her to rest, and her show was cancelled.

Adele then apparently performed in Denver on Saturday, but could not perform the next day in Salt Lake City because ”her illness worsened.”

The soul singer posted on her Facebook page: “I’ve been told to cancel tonights show in Minneapolis because my voice has gone. I hate to cancel especially at such short notice…”

The tour will resume June 4 in San Francisco, meanwhile performances in Minneapolis, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Portland, and Vancouver have been rescheduled.

She’s such a trooper for at least attempting to perform in Denver. I think she needs the rest though, she’s been on a whirlwind tour and has been busy steadily since her album came out. Enjoy the rest!

Sarah Palin’s Daughter says “F*ggot” on Facebook

If you haven’t already heard, Sarah Palin has a new reality show. I can’t imagine what qualifies as reality in the Palin family, but hey, I guess that’s why they have a show.

Shockingly, some people are finding the TLC-based program sort of, well, how do I put this…UNBELIEVABLY, PAINFULLY, AGONIZINGLY BAD. So when a couple of students who went to school with the Palin daughters decided to voice their opinions on Facebook, Willow Palin did not take to kindly to the criticism.

According to TMZ.com, a boy named Tre updated his Facebook during Sunday night’s episode to say “Sarah Palin’s Alaska, failing so hard right now.”

Willow Palin responded, “Haha your so gay. I have no idea who you are, But what I’ve seen pictures of, your disgusting…my sister had a kid and is still hot,” and then followed that comment with “Tre stfu. Your such a f*ggot”.

Big sister Bristol then got in on the action until a “message-board war erupted”. Sounds dangerous.

Willow has to remember that mommy being on a television show is going to garner its fair share of negative attention and she can’t be dishing out insults like plates of venison, or whatever they dish out up there.

Perhaps even more alarming than how freely Willow Palin uses such hateful words is her lack of understanding the difference between “your” and “you’re”.

Jersey Shore’s Vinny Joins Anti-Bullying Campaign

Pop Eater reports that Jersey Shore star Vinny Guadagnino has teamed up with MTV’s “A Thin Line” campaign, a program that speaks out against LGBT bullying.

Guadagnino posted a video online announcing his support, stating “you’ll never see [Jersey Shore cast members] making fun of somebody for who they are or who they choose to love, especially if they’re lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.”

MTV’s “A Thin Line” campaign is a join effort with Facebook’s Network of Support that aims to raise awareness for LGBT teens and put a stop to anti-LGBT hate speak.

“There’s a thin line between free speech and hate speech,” Guadagnino explained. “No one should ever be made fun of, especially for being brave enough to be who they are. If there is one thing in the world that I hate on, it’s a bully.”

Hmm…we hate to be Debbie Downer here, but we’re pretty sure we’ve heard some f-bombs dropped on Jersey Shore… and not just of the four-letter variety, either. We love to see Vinny supporting this very noble cause, but hopefully this also means the cast has put an end to the occasional anti-LGBT name calling that happened during seasons one and two!

Mark Zuckerberg’s Crucial Donation

Twenty-six-year-old Mark Zuckerberg, the youngest billionaire in the world and CEO of Facebook has pledged to donate a mammoth sum of 100 million dollars to the public school system in Newark, New Jersey, reports PerezHilton.com.

The public school system in Newark is responsible for having some of the worst performing public schools in the United States and is in desperate need of some help.

It’s a very generous contribution at a very crucial time in young Zuckerberg’s life. The Social Network is only three weeks away from being released and the film paints a tainted picture of Zuckerberg. Although it may not be entirely factual, Zuckerberg could still face a blow to his reputation. Though we don’t truly begin to understand Zuckerberg’s true character, he is portrayed in the film as a jealous and conniving, yet never greedy. The end of the film humanizes Zuckerberg, but we know how viscous people can be and many will most likely look past his civility.

The charitable donation may have come straight from the heart, but it was also a good move on Zuckerberg’s part and may just aid him in avoiding a tidal wave of backlash from the film.

Vixen AnnaLynne McCord Number Leaked on Facebook

Hilarious! TMZ is reporting that hottie AnnaLynne McCord’s phone number was leaked on Facebook last week, and the details surrounding the leak are pretty funny.

McCord apparently was at a fault during a traffic accident on Tuesday with a gentleman named Aaron. McCord was driving a Mini Cooper that belonged to her sister Angel. AnnaLynne was very apologetic and accepted responsibility for the accident.

A few days later Aaron received an angry phone call from Angel, cursing him out for filing an insurance claim. Aaron decided to get even and posted AnnaLynne’s phone number on his Facebook account, so his 361 friends could “call her and let her know what a deadbeat she is.”

This is so stupid and hysterical but let’s face it, she kind of deserved it!

Uncle Leo from ‘Seinfeld’ Number Leaked on Facebook

Anybody who is a “Seinfeld” fan remembers and loves Uncle Leo. Who can forget his trademark line “Hellooooooo.” TMZ reports that someone posing as Kim Kardashian posted the actor’s real phone number on Facebook, and he is getting constant phone calls asking “Are you Uncle Leo?”

The amount of calls has gotten so bad that Len Lesser (Uncle Leo’s real name) had to call the Burbank police. Evidently when police arrived at his home, they witnessed one of the calls and when the police asked the caller where they got this phone number, they replied “Kim Kardashian’s Facebook.”

Unfortunately there are over 100 accounts for Kim Kardashian. Police are continuing their investigation.

Lady Gaga Has More Facebook Fans Than President Barack Obama

Talk about a “Fame Monster!” According to FameCount.com, Lady Gaga has more Facebook fans than President Barack Obama.

At the time this article was written, Gaga has 10,559,057 fans, while Obama has 9,771,833 fans.

As it stands right now, Lady Gaga is well ahead of other celebrities in the Facebook fan race (with the exception of Obama). The closest competition are; Britney Spears (3.1 million), Ashton Kutcher (3.6 million), Taylor Swift (5.8 million), Selena Gomez (5.2 million) and even Justin Bieber (5.9 million). The only celeb beating Gaga is the late Michael Jackson with over 14 million fans.

Betty White Has Awesome Performance as Host on SNL

Betty White was awesome last night as the host of “Saturday Night Live.” After a Facebook campaign was launched for the “Golden Girl” to host the show, she admitted that she was not too familiar with the social networking site.

“I really have to thank Facebook … I didn’t know what Facebook was, and now that I do know what it is, it sounds like a huge waste of time. I would never think that people on it are losers, but that’s only because I’m polite.” She continued on Facebook, saying: “At my age, if i want to connect with old friends, I need a Ouija board. Facebook just sounds like a drag. In my day, seeing pictures of people’s vacations was considered a punishment.”

All in all, White was hilarious during all of her skits, and it was humbling to see a 88 year old perform in such a demanding show.

Jay-Z was the musical guest last night who also gave a shout-out to Betty White during his second performance.

Facebook Wants Meryl Streep to Team with Lady Gaga

A Facebook group is trying to get Meryl Streep in Lady Gaga’s next music video, reports Perez Hilton.

“1,000,000 for Meryl Streep to Star in Lady Gaga’s next vid!” currently has 5,097 members and continues to grow rapidly. Created by a young UCLA graduate, the group description reads:

“This group is a petition to encourage a Meryl Streep/Lady Gaga collaboration. If Meryl Streep stars in Gaga’s next video many of us will be able to die happy. Let’s see if we can get a MILLION people to join this group and send a strong message to Meryl Streep & Gaga: ‘We are madly in love with both of you. Please work together.’”

And while it is hard to imagine the two celebrities sharing a camera frame, the result would undoubtedly be both odd and spectacular.

Pickle Officially Has More Facebook Fans than Nickelback

Crunchy, salty, dilly pickles – who WOULDN’T want to become a Facebook fan of such a delicious food?

If you have Facebook, chances are you have seen the “Can This Pickle Get More Fans Than Nickelback (sic)?” fan page. You might have even joined it.

Well, as CHARTattack.com reports, the page has officially answered the question, and the answer is a big fat yes. The pickle page currently has about 1,450,000 fans, which is almost 50,000 more fans than the Nickelback page.

Rumors have floated around that Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger is trying to shut down the page. A Facebook user posted a link to a screencap of a Facebook message from a user named Chad Kroeger.

“Your page will be closed in 2 weeks,” Kroeger said to Coral Anne, the page’s creator.

“I still whooped your ass, Chad!” she said in reply.

It is unclear whether the user is the real Kroeger or just an angry Nickelback fan posing as the singer.
