Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint’s Farewell to Wizarding World

Posted by Sabina Sohail on July 13th, 2011

The famous Harry Potter trio walked the red carpet in New York City Monday night for the U.S. premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

Hundreds of fans gathered the streets of New York, cheering on their favourite stars like, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton and many more as they bid their farewells to the wizarding world, reported People.

Watson, who rocked a Bottega Veneta gown, admitted she was feeling emotional but didn’t shed a tear unlike last weeks premiere in London where she cried. Must have been the waterproof mascara she was wearing.

For Radcliffe, “It’s been an exciting, bizarre, wonderful 10 years.”

This may as well be the last time the entire cast will be seen together on the red carpet howeever, the real ending is July 15th when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 hits theatres.

Fashion Minute: Emma Watson On ‘Vogue’ Cover

Posted by Christian Allaire on June 13th, 2011

Well, if that isn’t a cover, I don’t know what is.

Emma Watson looks stunning on Vogue’s July cover next month. She’s one of the few that can pull off the short hair look, and is definitely rocking it here. It’s a fresh change from Vogue’s usual boring covers – it’s risky, it’s eye-catching, and it’s unique.

In the magazine, the actress reveals that James Franco and Daniel Radcliffe have both been huge supporters in times of trouble.

Franco was apparently a huge help on how to get an education while maintaing a career as an actor.

“It was such a relief to speak to someone who is trying to do the same thing I’m doing,” she told the magazine. “I talked to him about juggling studying and making films and going backward and forward. He’s not afraid or limited by what he fears people will say about it.”

Meanwhile, Radcliffe was apparently playing Cupid to her recent flames.

“We would help each other with relationship advice,” Radcliffe says. “Particularly funny were the moments when we would help each other compose texts to the most recent flames in either of our lives (not too flirty, but not too subtle either!).”

“It was certainly a case of the blind leading the blind, but it was extremely funny.”

Watson is a true class act, and she looks gorgeous here. Well done, Vogue.

Emma Watson Enrolling At Oxford University

Posted by Christian Allaire on June 10th, 2011

‘Harry Potter’ star Emma Watson is enrolling at Oxford University, reports CTV.

After quitting Brown University in April, the actress will now study English at the prestigious British university in October.

Watson said she found it difficult trying to juggle filming, modelling and studying at Brown.

“Recently I’ve had so much to juggle that being a student AND fulfilling my other commitments has become a little impossible,” says Brown. ”I’ve decided to take a bit of time off to completely finish my work on ‘Harry Potter’ and to focus on my other projects.”

Now that she has a little more free time since ‘Potter’ filming is done, Brown can focus more on her studies. Since she has lived in Oxfordshire practically her whole life, she will probably find it much easier to attend Oxford as well.

Watson said she underestimated how famous she was at Brown, saying “I was in denial. I wanted to pretend I wasn’t as famous as I was. I was trying to seek out normality, but I kind of have to accept who I am, the position I’m in and what happened.”

Good for her for sticking with school, though. I can imagine how difficult it must be with a full-time career, but she seems smart enough to pull it off.

Daniel Radcliffe Is The Highest Earning Actor Under 30

Posted by Christian Allaire on May 9th, 2011

‘Harry Potter’ star Daniel Radcliffe is the richest actor under 30, reports CTV.

The actor, who recently finished filming his run of ‘Potter’ films, made £28.5 million ($45 million) in 2009-10, pushing his net worth to about £48 million ($75 million).

The 21-year-old is not the only ‘Harry Potter’ actor to appear in The Sunday Times Rich List of young people. Emma Watson comes in at 13 with earnings of £2 million, pushing her total up to £22 million, joint with Rupert Grint.

Radcliffe is now currently appearing in the Broadway musical ‘How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.’

Other stars who made the list include ‘Twilight’ star Robert Pattinson, who came in at number nine worth a total of £32 million, narrowly beating Keira Knightley, whose net work is £30 million – putting her at number 10.

Princes William and Harry came in one place after Keira thanks to their inheritance from their late mother Diana and land owning. Wow, the thought of royalty being worth less than a vampire in a really bad movie frightens me.

Here is The Sunday Times’ Rich Top 10 List of the 50 Richest Young People:

1. Thomas Persson, Fashion, £700 million
2. Robin Arora, Retail, £343 million
3. Fawn and India Rose James, Property, £302 million
4. Arthur Landon, Inheritance, £200 million
5. Daniel Radcliffe, Movies, £48 million
6. Lord Mostyn and Family, Land, £44 million
7. Sam Barnett, Internet, £40 million
8. Sean O’Connor, Property, £32 million
9. Robert Pattinson, Movies, £32 million
10. Keira Knightley, Movies, £30 million

Emma Watson Transfers Out of Brown University

Posted by Kimberly Rupnarain on April 24th, 2011

It looks as though British beauty, Emma Watson, will be leaving the American university and transferring to another in the fall reports The New York Times. The actress, who is famed for her role as Hermione in the Harry Potter franchise, has been attending the American university since the fall of 2009.

Her spokesperson, Vanessa Davies, denied any reports that Watson was being bullied out of the prestigious school, saying instead she is choosing to leave to pursue courses not offered at the university.

Davies also added that the 21-year-old actress “has absolutely loved her time at Brown” and has made many good friends at the Providence, Rhode Island university.

In March, Watson posted on her official website that she would be taking time off from her studies to do promotion work for the final instalment of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

She wrote: “As you know, I love Brown and I love studying pretty much more than anything but recently I’ve had so much to juggle that being a student and fulfilling my other commitments has become a little impossible. I’ve decided to take a bit of time off to completely finish my work on Harry Potter… I will still be working towards my degree… it’s just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought.”

The final installation, which is due out this summer, is undoubtedly an important focus for the newly 21-year-old actress. Though the Harry Potter series was Watson’s first big career break, the actress has since gone on to star in ad campaigns for the ever-iconic British label, Burberry, designed a fair trade fashion collection for top designer, Alberta Ferretti, and most recently, scored a coveted spot as the new face of luxury beauty brand, Lancome.

Though Davies did not make mention of which university Watson will be transferring to, something tells me that the decision won’t impact the young beauty’s flourishing career too much.

Emma Watson to Star in The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Posted by Lauren Treihaft on February 10th, 2011

Even if the Harry Potter films have come to an end, Emma Watson plans on continuing her acting career. As reported by comingsoon.net, the actress has signed on to appear in the film adaptation of the popular novel, The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

Summit Entertainment has acquired the rights to the film. The movie is written and will be directed by Stephen Chbosky who also penned the novel that was published in 1999. John Malkovitch will be executive producer of the project which is set to begin filming in the summer.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a coming of age story that revolves around 15-year-old Charlie (Played by Logan Lehman) , a high school misfit with a big heart who is forced to cope with first love (Watson), the suicide of his best friend, and his own mental dilemmas while trying to find a place where he belongs. The story is set in the early 1990s and explores the common adolescent themes of sexuality, drug abuse, and love.

The book was and continues to be extremely successful. The film will hopefully sustain the originality and quirkiness of the book. With Chbosky directing, Malkovitch producing, and Watson starring, the project could be a success.

The One to Play Kurt Cobain Is…

Posted by Sam Rashid on May 18th, 2010

Last month, an announcement was made that a Kurt Cobain biopic was to be filmed, and according to CHARTattack, this has resulted in a flood of suggestions as to who should play the late front man of the legendary grunge group, Nirvana.

Cobain committed suicide in April of 1994.

Jake Gyllenhaal (Brokeback Mountain, Donnie Darko) is the most recent actor to be added to the list of possible “Cobains.”  Jokingly, it was pointed out that since he’s got long hair now, for his new role in Prince of Persia, he could fit the role.

“I don’t know if I’d be the right choice – but the hair from Prince Of Persia could translate somehow,” Gyllenhaal told NME.  “We could just bleach it!”

The rumours last month were that Robert Pattinson (Twilight) would play Cobain, but Courtney Love, Cobain’s widow, squashed those hopes.  Love said that she would rather see Ryan Gosling (The Believer) or James McAvoy (Atonement) play the role.

Gosling has got great acting skills and has proven himself to be able to pull off a wide variety of roles.

Although McAvoy is only just beginning to gain recognition on this side of the pond, he is also great.  He’s won BAFTA (British Academy Of Film And Television Arts) Awards … meaning he is good.

There is also Heath Ledger.  But seeing as he is dead, this is not going to happen.  But he would have been fantastic as Cobain.  He was deep, dark, and a little troubled in his own right.  He also displayed top quality acting chops, and while he was alive, Ledger could pretty much take on any role thrown at him.

And why not Emma Watson?  Cate Blanchett played Bob Dylan and got nominated for an Academy Award.  There is no reason why Hermione Grainger can’t turn into the grunge rocker.  And she could also bring a whole new audience to appreciate Cobain.

From here, the list goes on and on.  But it’s all in the hands of Courtney Love now, more or less.  Hopefully this turns out OK.

Harry Potter star Emma Watson will be attending New York’s Brown University in the fall, reports Perez Hilton. The British star, 19, who plays Harry’s friend Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, will be living in a dorm room and says she’s looking for some “normality” in her life.

“As long as there are no Harry Potter posters on the wall, I will be fine and happy,” she said, adding she hopes her roommate isn’t a fanatic of the series.

“I really hope they are a really massive Harry Potter fan,” teased Watson’s co-star, Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry. “I hope you walk in and the first thing you see is your face on a duvet.”

Emma Watson: New Face of Chanel

Posted by andPOP Staff on June 16th, 2008

Emma Watson must have learned a thing or two from the “Harry Potter” set, because she has certainly worked some magic on the head honchos of Chanel.

According to the British paper “The Mail”, the 18-year-old will be the new face of the brand, replacing Keira Knightley, with a $6 million pay check.

A source told the paper that Watson was carefully chosen. “Emma has been slowly integrated into the Chanel brand. They have been dressing her for film premieres and parties over recent months to see if she is the right fit.”

“Once it became clear she is growing into a beautiful young woman and wears the Chanel brand so elegantly, they had to sign her up.”

Emma Watson To Play Napoleon’s Love Interest

Posted by Eva Lam on April 19th, 2008

“Harry Potter” actress Emma Watson has signed on to star in the period romance “Napoleon and Betsy,” replacing Scarlett Johansson.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the 18-year-old Brit will play Betsy Balcombe, a noblewoman who falls in love with Napoleon on the island of St. Helena after the former emperor of France has been exiled there.

The story is based on real events. In 1815, Napoleon was imprisoned and banished by the British to St. Helena, where he lived for a short time at “The Briars,” an estate belonging to William Balcombe.

It was there that he befriended the family, including Balcombe’s younger daughter Lucia Elizabeth (Betsy), though it is unclear whether the relationship ever crossed over into romance.

It is the first leading film role outside of the “Harry Potter” movies for Watson, who took over from Johannson after the 23-year-old actress was deemed too old for the part.

Johansson is still attached as a producer.

The movie, written and directed by Benjamin Ross, will hit theatres in 2009.

Watson is currently shooting “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” the sixth installment in the hugely popular boy-wizard series.
