You may know him as the writer of the new Muppets movie, but Jason Segel has a rooster of great work on his resume. From “Freaks and Geek” to “How I Met Your Mother” to “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”, he proves not only can he be funny and charming, but also a talented script writer.

When you laugh at his jokes on screen, it’s most likely one he wrote himself. Not that many actors can say they do that.

“The Muppets” movie came out two weeks ago but already, you can watch Jason shine in the upcoming comedy “The Five-Year Engagement”. If “Bridesmaids” really made you piss yourself with laughter, you will definitely enjoy the comedy flick Jason wrote. Judd Apatow produced the movie while Nicolas Stoller directed.

The dirty romantic comedy stars Jason playing opposite Emily Blunt as a couple who got engaged but are finding it hard to actually tie the knot.

Seriously what girl would turn down an opportunity to be Captain Amercia’s girlfriend? Emily Blunt is one who would and did.

Although cutie Chris Evans has said yes to play Captain America, Emily says she is not interested to play Peggy, Captain America’s love.

Emily Blunt rules literally and figuratively in “The Young Victoria.” After all, the main reason to see this biopic is due to the actress’ vibrant performance – a far stretch from the Victoria we’re used to reading about in text books.

Do a simple Google search and you’ll find tons of portraits of a frowning, stern-looking Queen Victoria dressed in a black lace widow’s outfit. “The Young Victoria” shows her in a completely different light. Instead, it opens with her growing up as an over-protected child, leading to her receiving the crown as a teenager.

This focus on her early years as queen is really refreshing but ultimately, it’s Blunt’s playful performance that makes this movie engaging. As a teen, Victoria doesn’t quite understand why she wants to be queen. But she knows from birth that she will carry this “royal burden.” When King William IV (Jim Broadbent) dies, Victoria suddenly realizes what she — or rather her family –have gotten her into.

Instead of the costume melodrama that 19th century biopics usually consist of, “The Young Victoria” features more of the political side of Victoria’s early reign. But of course, there had to be a love story in the midst of that and rest assured it’s front and centre (but only at certain points).

Rupert Friend plays Prince Albert, Victoria’s cousin whom she eventually falls in love with. The catch is that at first, Albert is what you could call an undercover agent for the king of Belgium, a man he calls uncle.

In the beginning, Victoria is trusting of nearly everyone, including the affable Lord Melbourne (Paul Bettany) who becomes her advisor. However, after marrying Albert, Victoria loses most of that trust in those who surround her and as the film progresses, she tries to figure out a balance between independence and manipulation.

French-Canadian director Jean-Marc Vallée (C.R.A.Z.Y.) offers an interesting idea of how even a castle can act as a prison — that’s how Victoria feels at certain points. However, the movie’s main downfall is its pace. When the pace is fast it moves at lightning speed. But when it’s slow, the film just drags on – there’s no happy medium. And unfortunately, even with the focus lying on her tumultuous early years, “The Young Victoria” manages to be somewhat relatable but not that memorable.

As the summer of love comes to a close, a few celebrities have squeezed in romantic updates and even one delicious scandal.

First of all, everyone’s favourite tall-awkward-funny-guy John Krasinski (The Office) announced his engagement to actress girlfriend Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada). The couple have been dating since November, but keep their relationship under lock and key, including any details about an upcoming wedding.

Another potential celebrity wedding was spotted in Los Angeles this weekend: America’s Next Top Model Tyra Banks was caught sporting an awfully large stone on her ring finger, possibly meaning an engagement to longtime boyfriend, businessman John Utendahl. Banks hasn’t revealed any details, but she sure isn’t shy about carting the ring around town.

News surfaced from one of Canada’s most sordid love triangles this week, as Shania Twain celebrated her 44th birthday by posting vacation videos on her website featuring her and Frederic Thiebaud. Thiebeaud is the ex-husband of Twain’s ex-best friend, Marie-Anne Thiebaud, who incidentally was also Twain’s secretary before she became involved with Twain’s ex-husband, Robert Lange, and ruined their marriage. Got that? Yeah, me either.

Twain has never publicly stated she and Thiebaud are in a relationship, but she blogs on and on about their ongoing support for one another during the tumultuous last year. The videos don’t shy away from evidence, though, as the two are inseparable during a series of vacations through Florida, Switzerland, Spain and Egypt.

Jason Segel and Emily Blunt are in negotiations to join the cast of “Gulliver’s Travels,” a modern re-imagining of Jonathan Swift’s classic tale that will star Jack Black in the title role.

The Fox movie will follow the adventures of travel writer Lemuel Gulliver, who goes out on assignment to the Bermuda Triangle and ends up washing ashore the island of Lilliput, which is inhabited by a population of tiny people.

Blunt, whose movie credits include “The Devil Wears Prada,” would play the island’s princess.

Segel, one of the stars of TV’s “How I Met Your Mother,” would play Horatio, a Lilliputian who befriends Gulliver.

Rob Letterman will direct from a screenplay by Nicholar Stoller, who himself directed Segel in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” and Joe Stillman.

The movie will begin shooting in the U.K. in late March. Producers are working out the scheduling as Blunt is also in talks to play Black Widow in “Iron Man 2,” which is slated to start filming in California in early April.

James McAvoy and Emily Blunt could soon be playing “star-cross’d lovers” on the big screen — but not in the way you may think.

The two actors are in talks to voice the title characters in “Gnomeo and Juliet,” a CGI-animated film loosely based on Shakespeare’s play.

As the title suggests, McAvoy and Blunt would play lovers from rival gardens.

Should Blunt sign on to the role, she would be taking over from Kate Winslet, who was originally attached to voice Juliet but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.

The film, from Miramax and Elton John’s Rocket Pictures, will feature several of John’s well-known tunes and possibly some new material.

Kelly Asbury, whose credits include “Shrek 2″ and “Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron,” will direct.

The movie is currently in the storyboard stage and is expected to be completed in 2010.

McAvoy, who picked up a Golden Globe nomination for 2007′s “Atonement,” appeared in this summer’s “Wanted,” while Blunt is perhaps best known for her supporting turn in 2006′s “The Devil Wears Prada,” for which she was also nominated for a Golden Globe.

It seems that Michael Bublé and girlfriend Emily Blunt have gone their separate ways, reports E! News.

According to Bublé’s rep, the Canadian singer and the “Devil Wears Prada” actress have ended their three year relationship.

“Michael and Emily are no longer together as a couple, but they remain friends,” said Bublé publicist Liz Rosenberg.

Blunt met Bublé backstage after one of his concerts back in 2005 and the singer even penned the song “Everything” for Blunt. The pair also purchased a home in Vancouver.

“It was kind of love at first sight, but for a long time I thought it was infatuation,” he told Australia’s Sunday Mail in May. “But it wasn’t. It was love.”
