Stars Booked For Elvis Costello TV Show

Elvis Costello’s new variety show will pack an extra wallop of star-power in the form of its just-announced lineup of guests.

Bill Clinton, Sir Elton John, Lou Reed and Tony Bennett are among those will appear alongside the veteran musician-turned-TV host in the first season of “Spectacle: Elvis Costello With …,” according to CTV.

The talk-and-music show, a Canadian and British co-production, promises to showcase in-depth interviews with influential artists and personalities, as well as original musical performances.

Four one-hour episodes of the 13-part series have already been taped.

Costello and John are said to perform together in one episode, while Clinton, a known saxophone player, will discuss the influence of music on his career.

“I’m hoping that future shows continue to embody the great joy, passion and celebration of music we’ve had thus far, mixed with rare poignant and powerful moments,” Costello said in a statement.

“It’s early to say too much about ‘Spectacle’ other than it has been a wonderful and surprising experience.”

The show will air later this year on CTV in Canada, Channel 4 in Britain and the Sundance Channel in the United States.

‘The Hour’ Flies West, Stars Flock to George for Music Special

George Stroumboulopoulos is taking his “Hour” to the West coast.

From Monday to Thursday next week, Stroumboulopoulos will air live from The Roundhouse in Yaletown, Vancouver. Rocker Matt Good, former-Miss Canada Nazanin Afshin-Jam, and wildlife painter Robert Bateman are among the guests who will chat with him on these special dates.

Stroumboulopoulos will follow up his trip to the West with a Holiday Musical Special, airing Christmas Eve. Paul Potts (winner of “Britain’s Got Talent”), Jully Black, crooner George Canyon, Diana Krall and Elvis Costello will all perform their unique versions of seasonal tunes. More fantastic guests are yet to be confirmed.

The Hour airs weeknights at 11 p.m. on CBC Television, 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBC Newsworld.

Twins for Costello and Krall

Diana Krall and husband Elvis Costello welcomed twin boys last Wednesday when the singer gave birth in New York.

The date of their birth was also the couple’s third wedding anniversary, reports the BBC.

The boys have been named Dexter Henry Lorcan and Frank Harlan James. They’re Krall’s first children, while Costello has a child from a previous relationship.

“We are ecstatic,” the couple said in a statement, adding that “mother and sons are doing splendidly.”

The two married in 2003 at Elton John’s mansion in the UK.

Krall and Costello Expecting First Child

Canadian jazz singer Diana Krall and her husband, musician Elvis Costello, are expecting their first child together in December.

According to the BBC, the pregnancy was confirmed by a spokesperson for the couple.

The baby will be the first for Krall, 41, and the second for the 51-year-old Costello.

If all goes well, the baby will arrive just in time for the couple’s third anniversary. They wed in December 2003 at Elton John’s mansion in the UK.

Costello is currently on tour in the United States, while Krall is planning to release a new, as-yet-untitled album in September.
