Ellen DeGeneres Marries Portia de Rossi

It’s official! Ellen DeGeneres has tied the knot with longtime girlfriend Portia de Rossi.

The pair swapped vows Saturday in front of family and friends at their Beverly Hills home, E! News reports.

“It was all close friends and family,” said a source, adding that no celeb guests were spotted entering all day.

DeGeneres, 50, and de Rossi, 35, have been a couple since December 2004. Back in May, DeGeneres announced on her talk show that she and de Rossi were planning to tie the knot after the California Supreme Court struck down a ban on gay marriage by ruling it unconstitutional. The audience responded with a standing ovation.

“Planning a wedding is very stressful,” DeGeneres said on the red carpet at the 2008 Daytime Emmy Awards. “It is crazy. My gardener is now invited.”

On more serious note, the Emmy Winner talk show host added: “”I can’t wait to be married. I feel like it is long overdue. And I think someday people will look back on this like women not having the right to vote and segregation and anything else that seems ridiculous like we all don’t have the same rights.”

Ellen DeGeneres Wins Fourth Emmy

Ellen DeGeneres took home the Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show Host at the 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, reports E! News.

This is the fourth consecutive win for DeGeneres who beat out both Barbara Walters & Co. and Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa.

“I never take this for granted…Every single year, I know people joke about it…It’s not what we do it for but it feels so good,” DeGeneres said as she accepted her award. “We all know this has been a crazy year. On my show, we’ve done a lot of crying and a lot of laughing, and I’ve cried all by myself and people laugh, and then I cry some more.”

Although “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” has also previously won Outstanding Talk Show, this year the show lost to the “Rachael Ray” show.

“It’s a huge honor just to be in the room,” said Ray.
Regis Philbin was also a big winner. The legendary talk-show and game-show host was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for his prolific career in broadcasting.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi To Wed

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are finally getting married.

The 50-year-old comedian made the surprise announcement during last night’s taping of her talk show, and was received with a standing ovation. De Rossi, 35, watched from the sidelines.

The announcement was made just hours after the California Supreme Court’s ruling to strike down the state’s ban on gay marriage.

DeGeneres and her Arrested Development lover have been together for four years.

Ellen DeGeneres: Jessica Alba to Give Birth to Girl

Jessica Alba will give birth to a baby girl — predicts talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.

Mom-to-be Alba, who is currently eight months pregnant with her first child, knows the sex of her baby but will not reveal the answer to the public, reports contactmusic.com.

Even though DeGeneres tried to persuade Alba to reveal the baby’s gender, the stunning actress kept hush. DeGeneres believes Alba will give birth to a girl after tying a wedding ring to a string and holding it over Alba’s palm— only to have the ring move in a circular motion.

“It’s going in a circle, which means it’s a girl. And her name shall be Ellen – if you haven’t picked one out already,” said Ellen.

Ellen DeGeneres Finally Celebrates the Big 5-0

The comedian had to previously postpone her star-studded birthday bash because of the writers’ strike.

Ellen DeGeneres to Host Upcoming Oscars

TV star Ellen DeGeneres has been named the host of the 79th Annual Academy Awards, to be held Feb. 27, 2007 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.

The announcement was made today.

“When [telecast producer] Laura Ziskin called, I was thrilled,” DeGeneres said in a statement. “There’s two things I’ve always wanted to do in my life. One is to host the Oscars. The second is to get a call from Laura Ziskin. You can imagine that day’s diary entry.”

Ziskin, meanwhile, seemed to be more than happy to make the call.

“Ellen DeGeneres was born to host the Academy Awards,” Ziskin said. “There is no more challenging hosting job in show business. It requires someone who can keep the show alive and fresh and moving, as well as someone who is a flat-out great entertainer. Ellen completely fits the bill. I can already tell she is going to set the bar very high for herself and, therefore, for all of us involved in putting on the show. Now all we need is a lot of great movies.”

DeGeneres hosts the Emmy award-winning talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

This year’s Oscars were hosted by the Daily Show’s Jon Stewart.

Ellen Suffers Minor Injuries in Car Crash

Ellen DeGeneres and partner Portia De Rossi suffered minor injuries after an alleged drunk driver hit their car.

People magazine reports that the accident took place in Los Angeles on Friday afternoon. 52-year-old Jeanne Werber drove her 2002 Porsche Carrera in DeGeneres’s 2006 Porsche Carrera, as well as a 2002 Buick LeSabre being driven by two unidentified men.

Werber was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drunk driving.

Though no medical attention was required for anyone involved, DeGenerer “had a little neck and back pain, but it doesn’t look like it was anything serious,” said LAPD Sgt. Ken Buscarino.

The fourth season of DeGeneres’ talk show debuted Monday with a performance by Justin Timberlake in New York City’s Central Park.

DeGeneres Returns as Host of Emmy Awards

Ellen DeGeneres will be back as host of this year’s Emmy Awards, CBS and Emmy organizers announced Friday.

“You know me,” the comedian said in a statement, “any excuse to put on a dress.”

The 57th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be held Sept. 18 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

The Big Four networks ? ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC ? rotate the broadcast, with this year’s ceremony scheduled to air live on CBS.

DeGeneres previously hosted the Emmys in November 2001, a ceremony twice-delayed in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks. Her performance was widely praised for its grace and wit, marking her comeback following the end of her ABC sitcom ?Ellen? in 1998.

Since then, she has had a well-received stand-up tour and a voice role in the hit animated film ?Finding Nemo.?

Her syndicated talk show ?The Ellen DeGeneres Show? won for best talk show and host at this year?s Daytime Emmys and returns for its third season on Sept. 6. A live episode on Sept. 19 is tapped to include behind-the-scenes footage from her Emmy job.

DeGeneres was also one of 11 co-hosts at the 2003 Emmys.

Dick Askin, chairman of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, had high praise for DeGeneres.

“Ellen has demonstrated her extraordinary ability to connect with the television viewing audience. … We are delighted to have her back,” said Askin, according to AP.

Industry executives hope DeGeneres? popularity and the recent success of broadcast network programs, including ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” and “Lost,” will spark interest in this year?s Emmys and reverse a slide in ratings.

Emmy presenters announced this week include Halle Berry, Jon Cryer, Mariska Hargitay, Charlie Sheen, Jon Stewart and Kiefer Sutherland.
