Woman Charged in Ellen DeGeneres’ Crash

The woman who caused the accident in which Ellen DeGeneres was involved in a couple of weeks ago has been charged with driving under the influence.

E! Online reports that misdemeanor charges were laid on Tuesday against Jeanne Werber, who had previously told the website tmz.com that she was not under the influence at the time of the accident.

Werber was arrested at the scene, refused to take breathalyzer and was released after posting her $100,000 bail.

Her arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 4, and she has also been charged with failing to provide proof of insurance.


Three More Years For Ellen’s Talk Show

Ellen DeGeneres has signed on a contract that will see her do three more years of her hit talk show, E! Online reports.

This means that “The Ellen DeGeneres” show will air through the 2009-10 season, and will air on NBC affiliates in various U.S. cities.

“(She) connects with the upscale, suburban soccer-moms that advertisers pay a premium to reach,” Jim Paratore, an executive with Warner Bros, said about DeGeneres’ appeal.

DeGeneres’ talk show has won the daytime Emmy for outstanding talk show for the past year, she has won the award for outstanding talk show host for the past two.
