Posted on andPOP:

When in doubt – and debt – just sell your nephews paraphernalia from his past relationships! At least, that’s the motto Kevin Federline’s grandfather seems to live by.

Earl Story, Federline’s retired grandfather, with the help of Federline’s aunt, Diane Story, thought it a good idea to “sell some stuff on eBay in order to make a quick buck. instead of selling his stuff, however, he compiled various items from Federline’s relationship with Britney Spears, including their wedding baby shower invitations, a hat the couple signed for Story, a picture of Spears pregnant with son Sean Preston, a letter from Dr. Phil McGraw asking for an interview with the Federline family after the couple’s break-up, and much, much more. Story claims that he is selling this stuff at this point in his life to “help fund his retirement” – at least, that’s what the eBay description reads.

“With the recent death of his wife Betty [Story],” reads the description, “Earl no longer wishes to keep these items when they can be appreciated by a collector.” Someone contact Webster and let them know that stalkers are now also called collectors! Honestly, who else would be interested in bidding actual money on this stuff?!

Astonishingly, Story didn’t receive any bids on his memorabilia. Surprise, surprise! Guess his collectors didn’t have as much money to spend on Brit Brit paraphernalia as he thought. So what will Story do with all this stuff now? I bet Sean Preston and Jayden James comes across a box in the attic full of all this stuff twenty years from now. I wonder how much it’ll all be worth then…

Before the DJ tragically passed away this summer, he’d accumulated in excess of 800 pairs of sneakers, including the rare pair of Eminem Air Jordans (one of 50 ever made).

The auction begins at 4:30 p.m. PST on Sunday, November 15. According to the auction site, 100 per cent of the proceeds will go toward the DJ AM Memorial Fund, which supports “organizations and projects committed to addressing issues of addiction and recovery.”

DJ AM had been very invested in this cause, which is demonstrated through his series on MTV “Gone too Far,” in which the DJ helps struggling addicts curb their habits.

New additions from AM’s collection, which the Las Vegas Sun says includes “one of 200 pairs of Nike PlayStation Air Force 1s and one of 50 pairs of Eminem Air Jordan 4s, along with Supreme Dunks; Supa Dunks; Hyperstrikes; Air Jordan PEs; and other rare, retro and limited-edition shoes” will be added to the auction every evening through the first week of December 2009.

Posted on andPOP:

Forget the latest exploits of Britney, Jessica or Paris ? the hottest rumour on the Internet right now is the possibility of Microsoft buying eBay.

The New York Post was the first media outlet to report the possible news, but the move would likely cause anti-trust issues in the States and was quickly rebutted.

The Post said that Microsoft set its sights on eBay after it lost a bid to merge with AOL, which ended up merging with Google instead. So Microsoft turned its attention to eBay and the Yahoo search engine.

Reportedly, Microsoft founder and CEO Bill Gates is more excited at taking over eBay rather than Yahoo because of its technological capacities.

Although eBay and Microsoft are seen as two very different companies, they share the same nemesis – Google. For Microsoft, Google’s threat is its search capacities. eBay sees a threat in Google due to its online classifieds and the company’s Google Wallet payment system, which is still in development and would be a competitor to Google’s online payment system, PayPal.

Both Microsoft and eBay would not comment on the rumours.

Posted on andPOP:

Google is taking over the Internet, one company at a time.

Google Inc. is reportedly preparing an online-payment system that would compete with PayPal, the largest internet payment system and the top choice of the eBay auction site, according to the New York Times.

The Times reported that an online retailer has been approached by Google to help them with this new venture.

Some people have already named the new system “Google Wallet”, according to Scot Wingo, chief executive of ChannelAdvisor, who told The New York Times that several of his clients referred to this as the name of the payment service.

Google’s flagship search engine and its Froogle shopping service attract Internet customers but the company only gets revenue from selling ads that appear next to search results.

This service would allow Google to compete with eBay as well as with the popular free site Craigslist.

A payment system would help Google bring individuals and small businesses who are not authorized to accept credit cards online into its marketplace, says the Times.

As word spread of Google’s plans, eBay Inc. shares fell Monday as analysts believe Google’s plans to expand into electronic payments would overwhelm the online auction web site’s PayPal business, reported Business Week Online.

Shares of eBay Inc. fell 61 cents to $37.44 on Monday afternoon trading of the Nasdaq.

PayPal is one of eBay’s most profitable sources of revenue, accounting for $233.1 million of eBay’s total first-quarter revenue of $1.03 billion, says Business Week Online.
