DMX Goes from Rapping to Mopping

Posted by Elisheva Baer on November 9th, 2011

OCD or just a good deed?

According to TMZ, rapper DMX decided to do a good deed and help vacuum a night club in South Carolina called Club Universal this past weekend. Guess he just had a revelation to clean up his act…literaly!

This isn’t the first instance either. DMX was caught in the act last Tuesday, taking a mop from a male fan and helping him clean the waffle house where the guy worked. They were seen cleaning until 4 a.m. Now that’s committment.

The rapper, who recently did a stint in jail, said “I was in a good mood and felt that I would do that for him, since it was 4 a.m. and [the employee] had been working all night. The minute you get too big to mop a floor or wipe a counter, that’s the exact minute you have life f—ed up.”

When asked why he vacuumed the floor of the nightclub a few days later, the rapper merely told TMZ, “Broom, vacuum, mop, whatever … it’s a rewarding experience.” Of course, DMX, Of course.

Good for him! See the man-with-the-invisible-halo in action for yourself below.

DMX Caught Smuggling Drugs into Jail

Posted by andPOP Staff on July 12th, 2011

DMX is going to be spending a little while longer in an Arizona jail. The rapper was caught smuggling drugs into prison.

However, that’s only part of the problem. TMZ reports DMX made the following errors while serving time in the Yuma, AZ jail:

- Drug possession

- Failing or refusing a drug test

- Smoking when he was not supposed to

- Disorderly conduct

DMX was supposed to be released tomorrow after serving seven months for a probation violation. However he will remain in jail for at least another week.

So if he was caught smuggling drugs into jail, does that definitely mean he shoved the drugs up his ass? Is that how it works?

Rough Week for Ruff Ryder

Posted by andPOP Staff on August 14th, 2008

DMX, a.k.a. Earl Simmons, was hospitalized on Tuesday and issued with an arrest warrant.

The rapping Ruff Ryder missed a court date in Phoenix, AZ because of his hospitalization. However, the judge said the documentation of his hospitalization was insufficient and issued the arrest warrant.

It is unclear why DMX was hospitalized. DMX was arrested twice in June for driving without a valid driver’s license and attempting to buy cocaine and marijuana from undercover police.

“We are in court again next week on other matters, and my hope is we can get the warrant resolved by then and get back on track. We have some things in the works to get the warrant taken care of. My hope is that we can resolve it without an arrest,” Charles Kozelka, a public defender representing DMX told MTV News.

A Woman Hit By A Chair At A DMX Concert

Posted by andPOP Staff on October 3rd, 2006

A 29-year-old woman received nine staples to close a head wound, after she was struck with a steel chair on Saturday at the Nassau County Veterans Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y, during a DMX concert.

The Back To School Jam ’06 started out horribly. After the G-Unit crew, which includes rappers 50 Cent and Lloyd Banks performed, DMX, 35, whose real name is Earl Simmons, began his set only to have his microphone cut off on him.

“F*** outta here with that, turn my s*** on,” demanded DMX, reports AllHipHop.com.

After 15 minutes of performing, the night started to take a turn for the worse when DMX got frustrated that his sound was cut off again during his part in the hit song, “Touch It,” and started a fight with the sound man.

A witness reported to AllHipHop.com that DMX “jumped in his booth and proceeded to swing at him several times. I could hear the those punches connecting.”

The fight resulted in DMX being escorted off stage. That didn’t sit well with the rowdy fans. Fans began to show their anger by throwing food and water at the remaining entourage on stage. DMX’s entourage began to fight back by throwing bottles of water into the crowd.

At one point, a chair was being thrown around back and forth injuring a female fan. She left the venue and headed to Nassau University Medical Center with a cut on her head that took nine stitches to close.

“Chairs were thrown by the audience to the stage and…at one point a member of DMX’s entourage picked up one of these steel folding chairs and threw it back into the crowd, striking the victim in the head,” said Nassau Police Detective Sergeant James Watson, reports E! Online.

As you might have already guessed, the concert was called off at that point.

The incident is currently being investigated as an assault. There are no charges as of yet. Police are still looking for the person responsible for throwing the chair. DMX and his camp have made no comment.

USO Says DMX Skipped Trip to Iraq

Posted by andPOP Staff on August 24th, 2006

Earl Simmons, AKA DMX, has gone absent without leave.

The rapper was originally scheduled to perform for American troops in Iraq and Kuwait. He was scheduled to leave on Tuesday, but changed his flight plans to Wednesday.

However, when flight time came, Simmons was no where to be found, reports a press release from the USO.

“We are extremely disappointed that DMX decided not to complete the tour he asked us to arrange for him. When we announced this tour, troops were extremely excited about the possibility of seeing a performer they admired. We understand their disappointment,” said John Hanson, USO senior vice president for marketing and communications.

The USO adds that it rushed to put together the arrangements for DMX to travel, and got everything achieved in a timeframe of less than two weeks. Typically it takes up to 45 days to get all of the necessary approvals.

The USO lines up entertainment based on the musical tastes of the troops. Until now, it hasn’t had a problem with an entertainer honouring their commitment.

“We will continue to provide quality entertainment to the people who defend us daily around the world in some remote and often dangerous places. Fortunately, most performers honor their obligation to perform once they make the commitment,” Hanson said.

DMX Gets Spiritual with Name

Posted by andPOP Staff on May 26th, 2006

DMX has long been known to fans as “the Dog,” but he may soon make that official. The rapper is looking to drop the “Dark Man X” stage moniker for spiritual reasons, according to MTV.

“It’s just the whole Dark Man thing,” he told MTV Europe. “Because if you look at it, from a spiritual point of view, the Bible teaches us that we can speak things into existence. … And Dark Man, you know, it may not be the best name for me.”

DMX’s long-delayed LP, titled “Year of the Dog, Again,” is slated for an August release. His new single, “Lord Give Me a Sign,” deals with his quest to get closer to God.
