T.I. has been extremely busy with music since he got out of jail in September. He also plans to start 2012 with a huge bang.
“For New Year’s I’m gonna be waitin’ on F— da City Up to drop. We got a party poppin’ off down here in Atlanta, 200 Peachtree. We gonna turn up and it’s basically that,” he told MTV News. “Between the party and the mixtape, that’s all I got going. New year, new money. That’s that.”
T.I. has been teasing fans for a week, including a video where he’s working with Dre.
“Dre was here. He sent for me, and of course I answered. We really just turned up more than anything else. It was about creating chemistry,” T.I. told MTV News while in Atlanta preparing for the release of the tape.
Some feedback from the web about Ashton Kutcher’s performance on Two and a Half Men and some comparison to Charlie Sheen.
The Character
“Kutcher’s new character, Walden Schmidt, seems like a carefully drawn alternate universe caricature of Charlie Harper. Foremost that beard — something Charlie would never have had. The klutzy gentle persona. The utter cluelessness, about women or other people’s motives. He stumbles into good fortune without even knowing — his billion; the women at the bar who were charmed by his destitution and loyalty to his ex. Mostly, he appears loyal to one woman — the woman who ditched him (played a bit later by Judy Greer.)” — Verne Day, Newsday
The Comparison
“Kutcher’s performance was good, nearly as poker-faced fine as Sheen’s was. (Beware of the impending revisionism that Kutcher is superior to Sheen as a comic actor — Sheen really had a knack for this gig, and was a generous reactor to Cryer. Kutcher will probably prove just as skilled.)” — Ken Tucker, Entertainment Weekly
The Long-Term
“Is there as much humor to be mined from a goofy, well-endowed billionaire as there was from a not-as-wealthy jingle writer who seemed to satisfy women just as easily? Early indicators suggest no, seeing as the sitcom already and quickly played the ‘Look, He Accidentally Bedded Two Hotties At Once While Alan Lay Weeping and [BLEEP]ing’ card.” — Matt Webb Mitovich, TVLine.com
The Final Word
“Kutcher showed for years on ‘That ’70s Show’ that the multi-camera sitcom format is an arena he can thrive in, and he seemed fine in his half of the episode. He’s not going to transform ‘Men’ into a show I want to watch, but he fit in very well.” — Alan Sepinwall, HitFix.com
Rebecca Black’s debut album should be out for Halloween, reports Rolling Stone. However, she insists its nothing like “Friday.”
“The album is nothing like ‘Friday,” she says. “It’s got ballads, dance songs, everything.”
Next up for Black? “Grammys, touring, or movies,” she says, though there are no tour plans (or Grammy or movies, for that matter) in the works yet. “I’d love to be in Twilight, and I can’t be in Harry Potter anymore, which sucks.”
It will be interesting to see if Black can make the crossover from a joke to a credible artist.
Greyson Chance has released his first album, “Hold on ‘Til the Night” today and debuted at #2 on iTunes.
Chance, the 14-year-old YouTube protegé follows suit with the generation of Beliebers and has conquered the essential teen girl demographic. Its only been two years since he performed a soulful piano cover of Lady Gaga’s ‘Paparazzi’ at his elementary school’s talent show and caught the eye of Geffen Records and inspired Ellen DeGeneres to sign him as the first artist on her label: eleveneleven.
She tweeted about her protegé this evening: “I’m so proud of @GreysonChance. His first album debuted at #2 on iTunes today!”
I had a chance to talk with Greyson Chance during the recording process about the album, life and his first tour, check out that interview here.
Britney Spears debuted her Femme Fatale tour in Sacramento, CA last night, reports Perez Hilton.
Dressed in a glittery bikini, Spears opened the show with her hit ‘Hold It Against Me’ and bonus track ‘Up N’ Down.’
Spears also reportedly sang one of her classic ballads, ‘Don’t Let Me Be The Last To Know,’ live for the first time in 9 years.
She also sang her smash ‘Till The World Ends,’ where she flies over the audience with a pair of over-the-top glitzy wings. Who else would do this?
My opinion, after watching the videos, is that she’s definitely regained a little bit of spark that she’s been missing. Although she lip-synched and her dancing is not in tip-top shape, and it probably never will be, Spears looks like she is genuinely enjoying herself and is definitely more into it. The girl can still seduce an entire audience – she looks great!
