Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina SmirnoffDancing With the Stars dancers Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff were seen arguing loudly backstage before their performance at the 61st Annual Emmy Awards. Perez Hilton reports Chmerkovskiy was angry with his former fiancee for taking too long to do her hair and make-up.

“They were going at it, screaming at each other,” revealed an eyewitness.

Season nine of Dancing With the Stars premieres on ABC on Sept. 21. Smirnoff will be dancing with singer Aaron Carter, while Chmerkovskiy will be paired with actress Debi Mazar.
