Posted on andPOP:

It’s been three years since he last released something, which by today’s standards makes a new record long overdue. Oh yeah, and he’s dead. Fourteen years after his death, 2Pac is coming out with another new album.

WIDEawake Entertainment Group, who acquired the label that helped 2Pac rise to fame, Death Row Records, last year, is planning on putting out a new album from the late rapper, reports CHARTattack.com.

John Payne, president of WIDEawake, told Vibe magazine that the new record will feature songs recorded from 2Pac’s All Eyez On Me era.

“This is unreleased 2Pac… no remastering or remixing,” he said, continuing, “I believe that these songs could have been 2Pac’s next record if he were still alive.”

So far, the new album doesn’t have a release date, but if you’re in the mood for some 2Pac, you’ve got some options: You can check out one of the six albums that were released before his death in 1996, or one of the seventeen studio albums, live records, rarities collections, and of course the greatest hits records that have been released after he died.

Rapper Dr. Dre has sued Death Row Records, the record label he founded and used to own with Suge Knight, reports CHARTattack.com.

Dre, real name Andre Young, is alleging that the company has not paid him royalties on his 1992 album The Chronic since 1996.

Dre filed a suit against WIDEawake Death Row Records, which is now owned by Canada’s WIDEawake Entertainment Group, on Thursday, Feb. 11. The rapper is seeking $75,000 U.S. (about $79,000 Canadian) in damages, alleging that the label has committed a breach of contract, copyright violation and misappropriation of publicity.

“When it came to paying artist royalties and honoring limits on Dr. Dre recordings that could be released, the ‘new’ Death Row Records, to quote our client, ‘forgot about Dre,’” said Dre’s lawyer, Howard King, in a statement.

Death Row has reportedly failed to pay Dre his royalties even though the rapper notified them that he was owed money. The record label also re-released The Chronic as The Chronic Re-Lit last year without Dre’s permission or the legal rights to do so. The Associated Press has also reported that the label has been selling digital copies of The Chronic without having the rights to do so, because Dre has said his original contract with the label did not cover digital sales.

Dre founded Death Row Records in 1991 with Suge Knight, and left the label four years later when Knight’s entourage took a more prominent role. The label has released records by artists such as 2Pac, Snoop Dogg and Kurupt. WIDEawake acquired Death Row Records eary this year.

Dr. Dre is currently working on Detox, the follow-up album to 1999′s 2001, which is due out in 2011.

Marion “Suge” Knight, co-founder of Death Row Records, was charged with two felony counts of drug possession and one count of misdemeanor battery on Tuesday.

Police received a call regarding a car that was out of control in the Vegas strip on August 27. According to E! Online, Police then found Knight chasing Melissa Isaac, the alleged victim, waving a knife.

The victim received treatment at a nearby hospital for injuries, but Isaac did not have stabbing wounds. She told police Knight had punched her in the head while he was driving, according to E! Online.

Authorities have stated Knight was in possession of Ecstasy and hydrocodone, a pain killer. He was taken into custody and released after posting a bail of $19,000.

Richard Schonfeld, Knight’s lawyer, said his team is planning to “vigorously defend him against these charges.”

If convicted of both drug charges, the former CEO faces up to four years in a Nevada state prison and mandatory probation.
