Star-Studded Cast To Play Fake Family In ‘Joneses’

David Duchovny, Demi Moore and Amber Heard have signed on to play a picture-perfect family with a big secret in the comedy-drama “The Joneses.”

Described as a social satire, the movie follows an idyllic family that moves into a suburban neighbourhood and quickly becomes loved and envied by everyone.

However, not all is as it seems: The ‘family’ is fake, commissioned and placed by a marketing company to introduce luxury-level products to potential customers.

Duchovny will play the fake dad, Moore the fake mom and Heard the fake daughter.

Gary Cole, who recently appeared in “Pineapple Express” alongside Heard, has also been cast as a neighbour.

The movie is being directed by first-time feature director Derrick Borte, who also wrote the script. Borte previously worked as a graphic artist, on-air reporter and director of commercial and corporate videos.

Producers are aiming for a mid-October start in Atlanta.

Duchovny is currently starring in Showtime’s “Californication,” which will begin its second season Sept. 28.

Moore recently finished shooting the action noir movie “Bunraku” and the ensemble drama “Happy Tears.”

Red Hot Chili Peppers Suing Showtime Over ‘Californication’

The Red Hot Chili Peppers apparently have a hot temper.

In a suit filed today, the Chili Peppers accused Showtime of violating federal trademark laws with their new David Duchovny show, “Californication,” which has the same name as the famous Red Hot Chili Peppers album.

Anthony Keidis, the lead singer, said that “‘Californication’ is the signature CD, video and song of the band’s career. For some TV show to come along and steal our identity is not right.”

The word has been around since 1972, originally meaning the “haphazard, mindless development that has already gobbled up most of Southern California” and used in Time magazine.

The band formed in Los Angeles in 1983, and released the “Californication” album in 1999.
