A little plesent coversation in the midst of total destruction.

EA and Dark Horse have announced a new comic series called Mass Effect: Redemption.  The narrative will bridge the gap between the first and second video games. Commander Shepard must fight for survival away from his crew on the Normandy while his close companion, Dr. Liara T’Soni, tries to bring him back.

The Mass Effect: Redemption story is written by Mac Walters, the script writer behind Mass Effect 2.  He will no doubt bring some unique insight and depth to the Mass Effect universe.  The comic is scripted by John Jackson Miller (Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, The Invincible Iron Man) and drawn by Omar Francia (Star Wars Legacy).  The first four-part series explores the exotic and dangerous future Milky Way, and promises brand new locations and aliens.  Walters and Francia were on hand today at the San Diego Comic Con.  ”Fans of Mass Effect are going to be pleasantly shocked by the events in these comics,” said Walters. “We worked very closely with Dark Horse to make sure this story was built into the Mass Effect 2 arc, right from the ground up.”

Mass Effect: Redemption issue #1 hits comic shop shelves on January 6, 2010.  The eagerly anticipated Mass Effect 2 is scheduled for release on Xbox 360 and PC in early 2010.

With “Dark Horse” released on November 18 and an upcoming tour set for late February, Nickelback has a lot to look forward to and wants kids to ditch ‘Guitar Hero’ for real guitars.

“I feel like there’s not enough rock bands out there, especially when we go on the road,” front man Chad Kroeger said to MTV News.

“It’s tough to find other bands out there, because either they’re making a record, or they just got done touring. So kids: Start rock bands. Set down the ‘Guitar Hero,’ learn how to play an actual guitar and start a band, because it’s hard to find more bands to put a solid rock-and-roll package together, to get out there. It’s getting harder and harder, but I think we’ve done it.”

According to Kroeger, the album was not easy to make and took more than six months to create. The band hopes to have even more success then they did with 2005’s “All the Right Reasons,” “The bar’s been raised — it’s pretty high, especially if we are going to be looking back at the last record.

“I think our fans were pretty happy with it, and we made a lot of new fans with that one, and we want to keep ‘em. Call us greedy, but we want to keep ‘em all. We want to keep going back to all those towns and have those people show up and want to sing our songs back at us, twice as loud. That’s why we keep doing what we’re doing. This is a good gig. It’s a lot of fun, and it’s every young kid’s dream.”
