Daniel Radcliffe, the young actor best known for portraying Harry Potter, is set to star in an upcoming stage production of Peter Shaffer’s 1973 play “Equus.”
The BBC reports that Radcliffe, 17, will take on the role of a stable boy with an intimate connection to his horses. The play will require Radcliffe to both appear naked and symbolically blind six horses — traits distinctly out of step with his Harry Potter experience.
Another actor from the Potter films, Richard Griffiths (who plays Uncle Vernon), will co-star in “Equus.” It is set to open in London next March.
The two actors are currently working on the fifth Potter film, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.” It is set to hit screens in 2007.
Radcliffe fans not wanting to wait that long — or travel to London — can catch him in “December Boys,” a recently completed Australian film about four orphans in the 1960s.
