At 39-years-old, David Arquette is finally figuring his life out.
News about the Scream 4 star flooded media outlets when he and wife Courteney Cox separated after 11 years of marriage in October of 2010. Turning to alcohol to cope with the separation, the journey as been an emotional one for Arquette, but, in a recent interview with PEOPLE, the actor admitted that he is finally ready to get past it.
“I went through a really hard time, and my way of dealing with it was just to blow it all up,” the actor sad. “I did act childish[ly], but at the same time I had to – I was really hurt. It was hard for me to deal with this, but what I had to do ultimately was step back and take a look at myself.”
The childish behaviour Arquette refers to includes drinking, going on the Howard Stern to talk about the separation, and making inappropriate passes at his estranged wife while on a family trip with their 6-year old daughter, Coco, at Disney World.
Though Arquette previously buried his personal issues and avoided them with alcohol abuse, the actor has since given up drinking to focus on tackling his personal problems.
“I’m really getting in touch with my feelings, and trying to process them in a more appropriate way,” Arquette said. “It’s easy to numb them, but it’s more fulfilling to feel them. I don’t have a desire to drink.”
100 days sober, Arquette is finally asking the questions necessary to putting his life back together.
“My big deal is me starting to look at who I really am,” said Arquette. “I was living up to ideals that weren’t necessarily who I am. What am I good with? What makes sense for me? Where’s my true voice? I’m still learning.”
It looks like David Arquette will be following in Lindsay Lohan’s footsteps…all the way to the Betty Ford Center.
Radar Online reports that Davie boy spent New Years Eve partying it up at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel with a friend, something that is not really a good idea for a recovering addict.
Arquette, who surprised the pants off of the general population after announcing his split from former Friends star Courteney Cox, checked himself into the center this weekend. It’s unclear what he’s been admitted for, but we’re guessing it’s pretty serious stuff, especially after a major New Year’s binge!
Would we be horrible people if we said we’re not surprised?
David Arquette made a splash Friday night at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, Radar Online reports.
Arquette apparently rented a cabana at the Roosevelt’s pool and invited some “female friends” along for the party. Arquette was apparently very animated and flirtatious with the ladies, dancing and goofing off like a fifth grader.
An eyewitness reports that “[Arquette] started to hop from pool chair to pool chair while playing air guitar to ‘Sweet Child of Mine.’ One jump too many and David jumped on the next chair which was where I was sitting. He landed right on me and then fell into the pool! Boy, was he blowing off some steam.”
Geez, David. Would you like to borrow a megaphone so that you can ensure your “I AM OVER COURTENEY COX” reaches everyone on earth?
