Nineteen-year-old Tyler Shaw first burst out on the music scene after winning MuchMusic’s Coca-Cola’s Covers competition in 2012. His cover of Hedley’s “Invincible” beat out over 13,000 submissions.
He first began playing music at the age of 13 after finding an old guitar underneath his staircase. It wasn’t until years later that his talents were being to catch people’s attention. Shaw was encouraged by his friends to enter the covers contest. His eventual win would lead Shaw out of playing music in his University of P.E.I. dorm room onto the national stage.
Now the Coquitlam, BC native is now releasing his own music starting with his very first single “Kiss Goodnight.” Just judging by this romantic pop track, there’s no doubt we’ll be seeing more of Shaw in the future.

Those crazy kids from 4chan and Reddit are at it again, this time attempting to send country singer Taylor Swift to a school of the deaf. Swift ran a contest with textbook rental company Chegg and pizza-maker Papa John’s to decide where she should play a free promotional concert.
4chan was slowly coming off the high of trying to give a dirty name to Mountain Dew’s new soda and Reddit was still mildly tickled by their success of exiling Pitbull to Alaska. The Internet trolls thought it would inspire total lolz to send the “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” singer to Horace Mann School for the Deaf, in Massachusetts.
According to the rules of the contest, any “accredited high school or college in the contiguous United States that is in the Chegg database” is eligible to win — so it could happen. And why wouldn’t it?
While some of the students might take offense to being part of this silly 4chan prank, they’d still get to meet Taylor Swift. Deaf or not, you can still cultivate an appreciation for music. Plus, the top five schools that receive the most votes will each receive a $10,000 grant for their music department.
Want to meet Owl City in Vancouver this fall? ANDPOP and Universal Music Canada are teaming up to fly one lucky winner and a guest to Vancouver to see Owl City in concert on Sept. 28 at The Commodore Ballroom.
