Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Parts Revealed

After months of speculation of who Joseph-Gordon Levitt will play in the new Batman film, “The Dark Knight Rises”, fans can finally release a sigh of relief as the name of his role has been released.

In March, it was reported that Gordon-Levitt would play Albert Marcone, the son of major Gotham crime boss Alberto Falcone, played by Tom Wilkinson in the first of Christopher Nolan’s films, “Batman Begins.”

According to to a Warner Bros. press release, the actor will instead play John Blake, “a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Comissioner Gordon.”

On the other hand, Marion Cotillard, who was long assumed to be part of the cast, was also made official on Tuesday. She will play Miranda Tate, who according to Warner Bros. is a “Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father’s philanthropic endeavors for Gotham.”

Gordon-Levitt and Cotillard will join three-time Batman Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway, who will play Selena Kyle/Catwoman and Tom Hardy, who will serve as Bale’s nemesis.

This will be the final Batman film Nolan will direct. After the film, Warner Bros. will reboot the series, in which Nolan will produce.

With this star-studded cast,there will be high expectations for this film!!

But with rebooting of the series? That, I am not too sure about.

Gotham City coming to Pittsburgh

The Dark Night Rises is probably the most buzzed about film this year. It’s taken months for the mysterious cast to be revealed and now Nolan has confirmed that he will begin shooting the third installment this summer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania reports Comingsoon.net.

Nolan confirmed the location himself and told the Pittsburgh Post Gazette that, ““Pittsburgh is a beautiful city, we have been able to find everything we were looking for here and I am excited to spend the summer in Pittsburgh with our final installment of Batman.”

Elements and landmarks of the Steel City will make their way into the fictionalized Gotham City. However, the director of the Pittsburgh Film Office, Dawn Keezer is making sure the elaborate film will have everything it needs so production can run smoothly.

Denizens of Pittsburgh may be able to catch a first glimpse of the new film as long as they are secretive enough…

Justice League Movie will be a Stand Alone

A sudden wave of new superhero films has just emerged in the film industry. Marc Webb ((500) Days of Summer) is rebooting the Spider-Man series, Zack Snyder (Sucker Punch) is rebooting the Superman series, and news broke out yesterday that the Justice League film is back in action as it has been placed back on Warner Brother’s schedule.

Comingsoon.net reports that the Justice League film will not be related to Zack Snyder’s Superman project nor to the forthcoming Dark Night Rises. The ensemble film, featuring Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and others, will be a stand alone story.

HeyUguys.co.uk spoke with Snyder on the red carpet for the premiere of Sucker Punch about the Justice League film, Snyder said, ”Like what Chris Nolan is doing and what I’m doing with ‘Superman’, what they’ll do with ‘Justice League’ will be it’s own thing with its own Batman and own Superman. We’ll be over here with our movie and they’ll kinda get to do it twice, which is kind of cool.”

Hopefully Warner Bros. will sign on a well known director to front the project and cast some strong leads. The film will have to compete with all the other superhero films being so they have to create a strong narrative. We don’t want to see another flop like The Avengers.

Diane Lane to Play Martha Kent in Superman

Warner Brothers has just announced that Diane Lane (Unfaithful) will play Martha Kent in director, Zack Snyder’s reboot of “Superman”.

EW.com reports that Warner Brothers is thrilled to have Lane taking on the role of the adoptive mother of Kal-El/Superman/Clark Kent (Henry Cavill).

As reported before, Christopher Nolan is producing the film so it is sure to have a series of complex characters and a dramatic story line, not to mention a gloomy cityscape. Henry Cavill and Diane Lane are the only actors of the film to be officially announced. There is no word as to which Hollywood beauty will be playing Lois Lane, but be sure that they are all vying for the coveted role.

New Cast Member of The Dark Night Rises Revealed

The Dark Night Rises has been buzzed about for over a year now. Slowly the mystery is unravelled and new details of the production are revealed. According to totalfilm.com, Inception star, Joseph Gordon-Levitt has joined the cast of the third installment.

Ever since Inception rumors have been stirring about Levitt’s possible involvement in the project. It seemed likely that Nolan would cast the talented actor again, but those rumors were constantly refuted by Nolan and Levitt’s reps. Well, to set the record straight, Levitt will in fact be starring in The Dark Night Rises. Unfortunately, in true Nolan fashion (that we have struggled with for over a year), there is no word as to which character he will be playing and whether or not he will be a villain.

However, since it has been confirmed that Levitt is starring, speculations have resurfaced about him playing the titular role of the conniving Riddler. As per usual, Nolan probably still has some tricks up his sleeve. Regardless of Nolan’s ploys, fans of Levitt should be thrilled to see that baby face dawning the silver screen once again.

Superman Reboot Rumors

With all of the secrets and rumors regarding characters and stars of The Dark Night Rises it is no surprise that a new superhero and his subsequent rumors have begun to flourish alongside. According to Perezhilton.com, Tron: Legacy star Olivia Wilde may be up for the role of Lois Lane in Zack Snyder’s (Watchmen) upcoming Superman Reboot.

Though there was some talk around town of Jon Hamm being up for the role of the Man of Steel, earlier this week it was confirmed that The Tudors star, Henry Cavill will be playing the Metropolis Hero. Past rumors of Kirsten Stewart’s apparent interest in the role of Lois Lane have been put to rest. Wilde now takes precedent in the rumor mill. According to sources the actress has already been screen tested for the role, but does she have enough natural chemistry with Cavill to pull it off?

Hopefully Snyder is not as tight-lipped as that damned Christopher Nolan. However, Nolan is one of the producers of the film so expect to see these secrets remain hidden.

83rd Oscar Nominations

The 83^rd Oscar Nominations were announced on Tuesday with The Weinstein Company’s The King’s Speech leading with 12 nominations.

Though the nominations were very predictable (as my previous articles suggest), there were a few surprising snubs. Christopher Nolan is not nominated for Best Director, which is as perplexing as Inception and Ryan Gosling did not get nominated for Best Male Lead even though his performance in Blue Valentine was incredible heart-wrenching. However, this is the fun of the Oscars, the commotion and conflict the nominations stir up in Hollywood.

Finally New Details Revealed about The Dark Night Rises

Good old Christopher Nolan has been keeping us in the dark (no pun intended) for quite a long time now regarding the details of the third and final installment of his Batman trilogy. Finally the tight-lipped director has revealed who Thomas Hardy will be playing in The Dark Night Rises.

Perez Hilton reports that Hardy will be playing the villain, Bane alongside a freshly cast Anne Hathaway who will be playing Selina Kyle. Bane appeared in the 1997 film, Batman & Robin as the silent sidekick of Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman). However, Bane will take on much more of a leading role in The Dark Night Rises.

Bane originally appeared in the Batman comic books in 1993. He was imprisoned for nearly his entire life where he developed strength and agility within the confines of his cell. When prison guards took notice of his unimaginable strength they chose him to be the test subject for a mysterious and lethal drug called Venom. After narrowly avoiding death, Bane discovered that Venom would increase his strength immensely, however he must take it every 12-hours otherwise he will suffer from hideous and fatal side-effects.

Bane is a good choice for a villain in the new film. He should prove to be a very tough match for The Dark Night due to his intelligence and incredible vigor. Let’s hope Hardy delivers.

Christopher Nolan Denies Rumors about The Dark Knight Rises

Though it has been states many times over, The Dark Knight Rises will in fact be Christopher Nolan’s last Batman installment. News this week surfaced in regard to unused footage of Heath Ledger in the role of the Joker. Rumor had it that Nolan was planning on using some of this footage for the new film.

According to Comingsoon.net, Nolan spoke to Thompson on Hollywood to refute the rumors about the Joker footage and give some ambiguous information (in true Nolan fashion) about The Dark Knight Rises. Nolan said that the rumors are all false. The Joker will not appear in the new film. Nolan did reveal that Tom Hardy, who we have been speculating about for some time, will have an important role in the film. Of course Nolan didn’t say whether Hardy will be playing a hero or a villain. Nolan loves his secrets!

The director is still working on the script which is a collaborative effort between him and his brother Jonathan. The script is due in January and Warner Bros. has set the release date of the film for mid July right in the middle of summer blockbuster season.

Full Fledge Oscar Season

Mid-November is a time where we start hearing the same Christmas songs in every single store, Starbucks features their holiday drinks, peppermint hot chocolate and the gingerbread latte, and the first (or third) snowfall is upon us. Apart from all the holiday season cliches, all Oscar buzzing films are released consecutively. Though the Academy Awards, set for February 27 2011, are three months away, it is time to start the Oscar pools.

The Academy Awards is a pretty predictable awards show. Every year viewers are disappointed with the winners because of an Academy institution conspiracy. The voting process is not really democratic, although members of the board claim that it is. This year there are many Oscar buzzing films. Last year was a poor year (in my opinion) for North American cinema, but this year is looking up.

The nomination ballads are due on Monday December 27, and the official nominations will be announced a month later on January 27. With two months to decide, I say that we can somewhat accurately guess the ten best picture nominations.

As of November 18 2010 my Best Picture nominations are as follows (subject to change):

A Title “Rises” for the Third Batman Film

Christopher Nolan has announced the title for his new Batman film, the third installment in the series. According to Perezhilton.com, the film will be titled The Dark Night Rises. Surely people will get a “rise” out of that title, it is kind of a let down. It’s surprising that with all those cinematic tricks up Nolan’s sleeve he couldn’t come up with a better title. I guess he’s not so good with words. In any case, the film is sure to be a blockbuster.

Nolan also announced that despite the whirlwind of rumors, The Riddler will not be one of the villains in the film. Wow, another let down. So who can the new villain be? Maybe Bane, or Catwoman? If the title doesn’t sell the film a screen siren in a leather catsuit definitely will. Hopefully it’s not Ellen Page, not so sexy in Inception.

So The Dark Night Rises is being filmed in New Orleans, it has a lame title, and there is no Riddler? Oy vey, Nolan better deliver something good soon.

According to Deadline.com, Tom Hardy (Inception) has been cast by Christopher Nolan to play a lead role in the upcoming Batman 3 film.

Yet again, Nolan and Warner Bros. are using a familiar tactic and keeping all information relating to Hardy’s new role a secret. This surreptitious strategy will most definitely be successful and earn Nolan a few more bucks.

Although the role Hardy will be playing is a mystery, it seems likely that he will star as a villain in the upcoming film. Which villain you ask? Who knows, it is likely that there will be a multiplicity of villains of varying kinds.

Maybe a gambling pool should be started on all things concerning the cast of Batman 3. I’m placing a bet on Jospeh Gordon Levitt also playing a villain.

According to Perezhilton.com, Batman 3: The Untitled Batman will begin production in April 2011. The film is scheduled to shoot in New Orleans.

New Orleans seems like a a strange location for the backdrop for Gotham City. It is not the standard location where you see skyscrapers. Knowing Nolan, anything is possible. Surely he will build some elaborate set that flips upside down, backwards, forwards, diagonally….oh wait, that was Inception, oops. Well, with the modern technology called, “CGI”, filmmakers are able to turn any city into New York City.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see what tricks Nolan has up his sleeve this time…

According to PerezHilton.com, Christopher Nolan has been confirmed to direct the next Batman film, currently titled, The Untitled Batman Project.

After Nolan’s success with Batman Begins, The Dark Night, and more recently, Inception, it would seem silly for him to turn down the completion of the trilogy. Warner Brothers is being very quiet about the project. Perhaps they have another media stunt up their sleeve akin to the mystery surrounding Inception.

Christian Bale will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Michael Caine is still Alfred, but who is going to play the Riddler? People are dying to know who will play the character. It is rumored that Joseph Gordon Levitt will play the Riddler, but again, this could be a riddle in itself. I guess we will have to wait and see!

The film is in pre-production and Nolan is in final stages with the script. However, we probably won’t see this film for another couple of years.

Christopher Nolan sure has done some incredible work with the Batman franchise. With the financial and critical success of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, it wasn’t a question of if a third movie would happen, it was when.

Well, as Slashfilm.com reports, Batman 3 was announced Wednesday as part of a deal IMAX made with Warner Bros. which featured 20 to-be-produced films. Fans of the films were excited to know that a third installment was on its way.

Although the details are slim and it unclear if there is even a screenplay completed, Warner Bros. was confident enough to set a date. Earlier today Warner Bros. announced the official release date of Batman 3.

Mark it down—July 20^th 2012 is the date to remember.

It seems as though the studio is going for a similar scale of release as 2008’s The Dark Knight as the new film will be out on the exact same weekend.

If the production schedule is anything like that of The Dark Knight, as Slashfilm.com reports, shooting will likely need to get underway around mid-2011.

“Inception,” director Christopher Nolan’s follow-up to “The Dark Knight,” has found its lead actor.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Leonardo DiCaprio is set to star in the movie, which is described as “a contemporary sci-fi thriller set within the architecture of the mind.”

Ellen Page is also rumoured to be joining the cast, MTV reports.

Filming is set to begin this summer for a 2010 release.

Nolan’s directing credits included “Memento,” “Insomnia,” “The Prestige” and, of course, the two Batman movies, beginning with 2005′s “Batman Begins.”

DiCaprio most recently starred in the marital drama “Revolutionary Road” alongside “Titanic” co-star Kate Winslet.

He will next appear in “Shutter,” which reunites the actor with his “Gangs of New York” and “The Departed” director Martin Scorsese.

Could Cher be the newest addition to the Batman franchise?

The UK Telegraph reports that the singer is in talks to star as Catwoman in the upcoming sequel.

“Cher is Nolan’s first choice to play Catwoman,” said an unnamed studio exec. “He wants to her to portray her like a vamp in her twilight years. The new Catwoman will be the absolute opposite of Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry’s purring creations.”

Johnny Depp is also reportedly being signed on as the Riddler for the sequal, tentatively titled “The Caped Crusader.” It should begin filming early next year in Vancouver.

“The Dark Knight” is expected to gross $530 million.
