Christina Aguilera was one of the many celebrities who attended Etta James’ funeral this past weekend.
She was set to pay respects with a performance of Etta’s classic “At Last”, but got upstaged by a mysterious substance dripping from her legs.
Some say it’s urine, while some say it’s a spray tan gone wrong. Christina’s has some bad luck on stage as of late. When she sang the national anthem during the Superbowl last year, she messed up the lyrics big time. Girl can’t catch a break!
Christina doesn’t seem to be bothered by all this talk of her “leaky performance”. When she spoke with People Magazine the following day, she had only nice things to say about the late singer.
“Etta wasn’t just any performer, she was a strong woman whose talent came from a place so deep it moved people in ways they never felt before. Losing her was, to me, like losing a part of my soul,” she explained.
Christina Aguilera has noted Etta James as her inspiration many times and today she paid tribute once again by belting out the classic wedding song at the late singer’s funeral in Los Angeles.
“She was the one that cut right through my soul. So tonight, Etta, this song is for you,” the 31-year-old entertainer said before performing. James passed away last week of complications from leukaemia, aged 73.
Stevie Wonder also took the stage to sing “Shelter in the Rain” with a church choir accompanying, President Barack Obama wrote a letter and Rev. Al Sharpton delivered the eulogy.
NBC’s ‘The Voice’ has announced that they’ve enlisted more celebrity talent for their upcoming season – this will surely challenge those over at ‘American Idol’ the most watched show on television.
According to Rolling Stone, each of the show’s panelists will now be joined by two celebrity advisors from the music industry. Cee-Lo Green will be joined by other R&B heavyweights, Ne-Yo and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds. Maroon 5′s frontman Adam Levine will have some help from Alanis Morissette and Robin Thicke while mentor Christina Aguilera will be joined by Jewel and industry-icon, Lionel Richie.
“I trust the show more than I trust the record industry at this point,” said Levine about reality show singing contests, in a recent Reuters interview. “It is a very tired format, but in a way this is a very fresh way of doing it.”
Another mentor, country-star Blake Shelton is pulling in two reality-show veterans – his wife, Miranda Lambert and Kelly Clarkson. That’s right, Seacrest.
“I chose Miranda and Kelly because they both survived reality television shows,” Shelton told reporters at an annual gathering of TV critics. “I just wanted somebody who could talk to them about what they were going through.”
Executive producer and reality show innovator Mark Burnett admits that the show’s success hasn’t yet fulfilled its expectations. Last year’s winner Javier Colon (who?) released his album and peaked at no.134 on the Billboard 200 album chart. That doesn’t even come close to the success of “Idol” winners in the vein of Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.
It’s impossible to predict success in the ever-changing music industry and even making a name for yourself in the Billboard chart is a huge feat. Though this season could change everything, again.

Last night, Katy Perry fulfilled her teenage dream by hosting Saturday Night Live with her touring buddy Robyn as musical guest.
She’s been on a stampede of success over the past few weeks – named one of Barbara Walters’ Most Fascinating People of the Year, shot down a few more divorce and pregnancy rumours, won a few American Music Awards,sported a new haircut and oh, nominated for a handful of Grammy awards. Then the singer-turned-host dawned the seemingly haunting deed of hosting Saturday Night Live. At first, she seemed insanely nervous during her opening monologue as she impersonated the Rockefeller Christmas tree, but her sexual tension with Kristen Wiig brought it back around.
Earlier this week, Perry took a break from rehearsals to talk about the experience. “It’s fun on the outside, and on the inside it’s a lot more hard work than I can ever imagine. So it’s nerve wracking but I always love a challenge and this is something new, so it’s challenging but I’m up for it. And if I completely embarrass myself, I’ll just stick to music. I’ll fall back on that.”
And that’s exactly what happened. Perry appeared through at least nine sketches where she parodied Christina Aguilera, recent musical guest Florence Welch, Pippa Middleton and herself on a Finnish talk show. 5. Her 2001 VMA performance
While “singing” her hit song “I’m a Slave 4 U”, Britney’s wardrobe consisted of a green bikini, a lot of glitter and a white python. The sultry performance was talked about for weeks at the water cooler. People still dress up in this costume for Halloween sometimes.
4. Entering motherhood
Six years ago, while married to Kevin Federline, Britney had her first son, Sean Preston Federline. It came as a shock because no one thought Britney was ready for such a responsibility. In fact, after her second child, Jayden James Federline, people still poked fun at her. Comedian Sarah Silverman even called her sons “the most beautiful mistakes” at an award show.
3. Her day-long marriage
We all know the expression “what happens in Vegas, stayed in Vegas”. For Britney, she ended up bringing her Vegas escapades back home with her. The media blew up and I’m sure the internet broke when news broke that Britney married her childhood friend Jason Alexander but got an annulment a day later. This is when everyone began questioning Britney and gossiping about a potential drug addiction.

As per usual, when Britney’s set to performance at an award show, it’s sure to be a jawdropper. For the opening song at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, Britney, Christina Aguilera and Madonna performed “Like a Virgin”. The two former Mickey Mouse members were wearing bridal gowns and Madonna wore a black tux. When they changed songs to “Hollywood”, Madonna did the unexpected and planted a sloppy kiss on Britney (and Christina but this isn’t her moment). The best part: the camera cutting to Justin Timberlake for his reaction.
1. Shaving Her Head
Back in 2007, Britney did what was considered the norm for a major popstar: she checked into rehab. It seems she was partying too much with “bad role models” like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. Unfortunately, Britney abruptly checked out a day later. The following day, she was spotted at a Tattoo Parlour in L.A. shaving her head. Known for her long, gorgeous blonde locks, the sight of Britney bald and completely worn out shocked just about everyone.
When an album flops, a new opportunity knocks. For Christina Aguilera, she may not have a lot of success from her previous album, Bionic, but she could make some mad cash with her new perfume.
The Hollywood Life reveals the perfume is called Secret Potion. She says, “every woman has a secret sexy side. With my fragrance, I really want that side to shine.”
The gossip site posted a sneak peak video in the making of her new commercial, to promote her new product.
Her stylist for the video, Cher Coulter gives us a glimpse on what it’s like styling the singing diva. Director Matthew Rolston couldn’t stop raving about how much fun it is to work with Christina. It looks like photoshopping and retouching her wasn’t all that fun, though.

Demi Lovato is sure making Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera look like chumps as she does a sweet rendition of their hit “Moves Like Jagger”.
Demi spent last night in Detroit, Michigan and halfway through her set she performed this radio-friendly track. She was dressed like a Grecian goddess and backup dancers performed behind her.
Normally, singers go old-school with their cover selections but it’s refreshing to see Demi cover something very current and buzzworthy. Who knows, maybe Aguilera will return the favour and cover Demi’s song Skyscraper some day soon.

Kelly Osbourne and Christina Aguilera continue to fight like two brats on the playground.
In a recent appearance on E! Fashion Police, former Dancing with the Stars contestant Kelly Osbourne called Aguilera a “fat bitch”.
Kelly then continued to make fun of the singer’s appearance during last week’s Michael Jackson Tribute Concert. Aguilera sported fishnet tights, heavy makeup and super-sized hair on stage, a.k.a. generic popstar wardrobe.
According to Kelly in US Magazine, Christina started it!
“She called me fat for so many f***ing years, so you know what? F**k you! You’re fat too,” Kelly said.
It seems we need an andPOP referee to come in and settle this once and for all: You’re both putting on weight! And, putting on weight after a baby or after undergoing major career changes is normal! Neither of you are morbidly obese so either can it or prepare to be canned by everyone else. Think of the young girls that look up to you. Would you want them growing up with body image issues?
Kelly Osbourne called Christina Aguilera “fat”on her E! style show, Fashion Police.
“Maybe she is just becoming the fat b**** she was born to be,” sniped Kelly during her emotional tirade. “She was a **** to me.”
And the reality TV star revealed her outburst, insisting, “She called me fat for so many years, so you know what? You’re fat too!”
The pair have been enemies for years, and of course this is just escalating the bitterness. However, this could be a great matchup for Celebrity Boxing.
Christina Aguilera is the top paid judge of ‘The Voice,’ reports CTV.
The singer reportedly earns $225,000 per episode, compared to the $75,000 that Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton make.
That means that NBC is spending $450,000 on the judges alone, not including production or advertising costs. A little crazy, if you ask me!
The show has been a big success, though, pulling in over 10 million viewers per episode. I’m sure they are making the money back somewhere.
The winner of the show will get a $100,000 recording contact.
This proves my theory that being a reality singing show judge is the best thing you can do for your career. I mean, nobody remembers Aguilera flubbing the national anthem or getting a DUI – they all see her as a rich, successful TV judge now. Smart move.
The last year has been a tough one for Christina Aguilera.
But at the end of it all, she still keeps her chin up.
Taking on one of two W Magazine covers this month, the 30-year-old songstress opened up about a series of unfortunate events she has suffered over the last year, the childhood pain she still carries and how she keeps stays strong through it all.
Not surprisingly, the singer copes through music.
“I felt caged by my childhood. And unsafe: Bad things happened in my home; there was violence,” she confessed to the magazine.
“‘The Sound of Music’ looked like a form of release. I would open my bedroom window to sing out like Maria. In my own way, I’d be in those hills.”
One of the things she also opened up about, was her film debut Burlesque, which didn’t do well in the box office.
While sad that it failed, she has no regrets about the role.
“During production, I was going through a lot of self-discovery. As a quote-unquote pop star, you have your entourage with you at all times. When you enter and leave a place, backstage, even at home—you always have your team. On the movie set, I didn’t have anyone around me. And it felt good. When I first met my husband, I needed that helping hand to take the reins and look after me. After the movie, I grew out of being that little girl: I became more of an adult.”
But now that she is one of four judges on “The Voice”, Aguilera seems to be experiencing success again.
Having just released a new song with fellow “The Voice” judge Cee Lo Green titled “Nasty”, the singer has also launched her new perfume, Royal Desire, on Wednesday.
Aguilera seems to be back on track to happiness. Hopefully, better things will come her way in the near future.
Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine will collaborate on a new Maroon 5 single, reports Billboard.
The two music artists, who are judges on NBC’s ‘The Voice,’ will collaborate on the track ‘Moves Like Jagger.’
The single is set to be released next week on iTunes. They also plan to perform the single on the June 21 episode of the show.
Levine said in a statement that it was “great” getting to work with Christina, while Aguilera called the collaboration a “wonderful opportunity.”
The song is described as a quintessential Maroon 5 pop song, with an upbeat tune. This isn’t the first time Levine has teamed up with a pop icon, previously jamming with Rihanna on ‘If I Never See Your Face Again.’
I’m excited, I’m sure the song is great! It will be interesting to see how Aguilera’s powerful voice mixes with Levine’s softer, serenading voice. Great publicity for ‘The Voice,’ too.
While Christina Aguilera flubbed the lyrics to the national anthem at the Super Bowl, it’s a good thing she’s a good sport about it.
The singer, who sat down with Ellen Degeneres on Tuesday for an interview to talk about her new NBC show “The Voice”, Aguilera explained her infamous Super Bowl mishap.
“I had been singing that song my entire life. I was the youngest anthem singer in my hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. I sang for the Steelers when I was this big,” she said, referring to her pint size childhood stature. “I think 7 or 8 years old. I would sing for them. I think had a moment where I was at the Super Bowl at 30 years old. I took in the moment a little bit too much. Shoot me for appreciating the moment but here I am at the Super Bowl… singing for a team and in front of the world. And remembering what it was like to be that young and look where I made it now.”
While she forgot the lyrics, the pop star did recognize her mistake, and just how many people had seen it.
“And then it was like, oh. That night I knew, I just made myself a Trivial Pursuit question,” she joked. “‘In 2011 what female singer, ya know, flubbed the lyrics.’ It’s just insane. But I have a really good laugh about it and you get over things. You get back up again and you just prove to yourself and to everyone you that much stronger.”
Aguilera had similar comments about the mixup right after the game went down.
In a statement to the Associated Press, Aguilera said, “I got so lost in the moment of the song that I lost my place. I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.”
Well…as embarrassing as it might have been, you still have to give her props for her powerful vocals!
Christina Aguilera to be the next J.Lo?
After reports of Aguilera being in talks with producers from the new NBC show, The Voice, the news has finally broken that this genie-in-a-bottle is set to join Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine (from Maroon 5, for those who have forgotten) as the third host on the Mark Burnett singing competition.
According to Perez Hilton, Aguilera issued a statement, saying:
“I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful project that celebrates music and the talent behind it. To be given the opportunity to help shape new artists’ careers and mentor them to see their dreams come to fruition is a task I welcome with open arms. I am so happy to be working with fellow Grammy Award winners Adam and Cee Lo as I feel there is so much we can all bring to The Voice.”
After all the professional setbacks this talented singer has had recently – like getting arrested with her boyfriend for public intoxication and driving under the influence, shortly after tripping onstage at the Grammy’s during her Aretha Franklin tribute – we can’t wait to see this 30-year-old get back on her feet!
“When I decided to produce ‘The Voice,’ I immediately knew that my first choice for a female coach had to be Christina Aguilera,” Burnett said in the statement. “Christina has a perfect voice and is an undeniable force in the music business. She is the epitome of ‘The Voice.’ ”
Only problem is, will this new show be able to compete with American Idol? We already saw what happened to Paula Abdul’s Live to Dance, which after one season is reportedly over – let’s just hope that this one will have a longer life than that!

Christina Aguilera and her boyfriend Matthew Rutler were arrested this morning in West Hollywood, reports TMZ. Christina was arrested for public intoxication and Rutler was arrested for driving under the influence.
According to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, Rutler’s bail was set at $30,000.
Law enforcement sources tell us Aguilera appeared to be “extremely intoxicated” and was “unable to take care of herself.”
However, the source adds, “If the driver had NOT been arrested for DUI, [Christina] would have never been in trouble.”
TMZ reports cops pulled over Rutler after they saw him driving erratically.
We are thinking of nominating Christina for mother of the year. I mean she’s a class act. Has her boyfriend move into the same home occupied by her husband and child, and now this little mishap. Christina we like your style!
Christina Aguilera has finally settled her divorce with now ex-husband Jordan Bratman.
TMZ reports that the couple will share joint custody of their son Max. Although the couple had a prenup, rumors has it Jordan got a little extra bonus.
Here’s the fun part! Christina had her new boyfriend Matt Butler move into the family house while Jordan was still living in the home. Not only is that really cold on Christina’s part, its actually pretty funny.
Anyways now that the divorce is finalized, Jordan has moved out of the house.

If you are expecting a production akin to Baz Luhurmann’s Moulin Rouge or Bob Fosse’s Cabaret, you should probably just stay home and rewatch one of those films. If you are looking for a holiday “feel good” film, then look no further and go see Burlesque.
We have seen enough pop stars make the jump to Hollywood film before with films like Crossroads with Britney Spears, to know that often times it doesn’t turn out well. Surprisingly enough, Aguilera isn’t completely terrible in Burlesque. Obviously, her role doesn’t call for much acting talent, but for her film debut I’ll go as far to say that she wasn’t too shabby. The film however is limited by its cliche “country girl goes to Hollywood to make it big” storyline.
Aguilera plays Ali, a lonely gal from Iowa who takes a bus to Hollywood and becomes intrigued by the glitz and glamour of a burlesque club. Ali starts out as a waitress in the club until she finally proves she is worthy of the stage. The rags to riches story is filled with sequins, corsets, and a whole lot of Cher. Cher has proven that she is a talented actress, but this role kind of taints her abilities. Cher is incredibly reminiscent of Dr. Frankenfurter from The Rocky Horror Picture Show and not because she is scantily clad and armed with garder belts, but more due to her staunch black hair and caked on makeup that illuminates her artificially enlarged lips and sky-high cheekbones. While it is true that Cher’s physical appearance does not hinder her acting abilities, she just doesn’t really sell it. Cher is also known as a great singer, but her vocal stylings seem out of place next to Aguilera’s gospel-esque style.
The whole film sort of turns into this drawn out Christina Aguilera concert. Remember when Aguilera sang and starred in the music video for “Lady Marmalade”? Well, Burlesque is basically that plus a cliche love story, a little Hollywood temptation, and some rivalry.
TMZ reports that pop princess Christina Aguilera has split from husband Jordan Bratman.
Rumors are swirling that the couple have been actually separated for a few months. There is no word on whether the couple will seek a divorce.
Aguilera and Bratman have a two year old son named Max.
