A few weeks back Trent Reznor took to his Twitter account to express his discontent for Chris Cornell’s pop inspired new sound. He wrote: “You know that feeling you get when somebody embarrasses themselves so badly YOU feel uncomfortable? Heard Chris Cornell’s record? Jesus.”
Although Reznor is not a fan of Cornell’s new Timbalake produced material, he was however, inspired by Cornell’s new album to pull an April fool’s prank on the public.
Reznor took to the Nine Inch Nails website yesterday (Wednesday) to announce that they have released a new album entitled “Strobe Light.” It was written that the joke disc was produced by Timbaland (a dig at Cornell’s recent crossover) and features songs such as “Clap Trap Crack Slap” and “Laid, Paid and Played.”

If you didn’t know already, Chris Cornell recently released a solo album entitled “Scream”. The music for this new project is a vast departure from Cornell’s work with Soundgarden and Audioslave, as the album features dance beats and sampling, which is a leap away from his roots in the grunge rock movement.
As the album was produced by Timbaland, it is gaining Cornell a slew of new fans as the material boarders on the line between rock and pop. Yet, not everyone is a fan of his new material and some are shocked by his crossover to the pop world, including Nine Inch Nails front man, Trent Reznor.

Chris Cornell, currently the frontman of Audioslave, is currently prepping a new solo album. The singer says he hopes to start recording tracks for the record in September.
“I’m always writing,” Cornell told Billboard. “There’s a song here, a song there that I wouldn’t be able to put on an Audioslave record.”
However, a new solo album isn’t the only thing taking up Cornell’s time these days. Audislave is releasing their third album, “Revelations,” on September 5. And Cornell is also set to contribute tracks to the upcoming James Bond film “Casino Royale” and indie flick “Bug.”
According to Cornell, all the songs for his upcoming solo release have been written, and he’s working towards a 2007 street date.
It will be the first album made by the former Soundgarden singer under his own name since 1999’s “Euphoria Morning.
Ex-Soundgarden front-man and current Audioslave vocalist Chris Cornell has been recruited to perform the theme song for the upcoming James Bond movie, “Casino Royale.”
Titled “You Know My Name,” the track was co-written by Cornell and Bond composer David Arnold, according to a press release.
“I’ve always loved Chris’ work, both as a writer and as an artist, and had hoped someday to find the right film to inspire him,” said Lia Vollack, president of Worldwide Music for Columbia Pictures. “His music is both soulful and tough. It was the perfect complement to Daniel Craig and ‘Casino Royale.’”
Previous performers of Bond themes include Tina Turner, Paul McCartney & Wings, Tom Jones and Garbage. The theme song for the most recent Bond installment, 2002’s “Die Another Day,” was performed by Madonna.
Fans will get a chance to hear Cornell’s performance when “Casino Royale” hits theatres on November 17.
