Chat with the Cast of ‘Beyond the Break’

Posted by andPOP Staff on July 28th, 2006

Here’s your chance to interact with the cast of “Beyond the Break,” the exciting new show on The N!

“Beyond the Break” is an intense dramatic series combining surf and sun as it drops in on the competitive world of professional surfing. Four passionate women with diverse backgrounds will pursue their dreams of becoming professional surfers. But in order to remain afloat, each of them must overcome issues to capture surf stardom from WaveSync, a struggling surf company eager to reinvigorate itself.

David Chokachi plays Justin Healey, a former surfing legend and Pipeline Masters Champ who’s been given a second chance to right his wrongs as a coach for WaveSync. Justin is hired to help bring the company back on top as he mentors the women in both their personal and professional endeavors. As Justin grapples with his own challenges, he must take on a new role as coach and confidant for a household of four women with four different personalities.

andPOP is taking questions for David Chokachi, Natalie Ramsey, Tiffany Hines, Sonya Balmores and Suzie Pollard.

Of all the questions submitted, andPOP will ask the best ones to each cast member.

All you have to do is email beyondthebreak@andpop.com by AUGUST 6 with your:

-your question(s)

Then come back soon to see if your question was asked.

David Chokachi (Justin Healey)
Actor David Chokachi starred as Detective Jake McCarty, partner in crime to Yancy Butler in TNT’s original hit series Witchblade, based on the top selling comic of the same name. He can also be seen in the recent Sci-Fi Channel MOW Crimson Force. David appears to have made a smooth transition from the shorelines of Malibu where he was previously in the line of protective duty as lifeguard Cody Madison on the worldwide phenomenon, Baywatch.

David’s introduction to Baywatch in its sixth season, earned him a huge fan-base and the distinction of being voted one of People Magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful.” With that international recognition came the image of the quintessential California beach boy: blonde, buffed, and bronzed.

A Massachusetts native, he holds a degree in Political Science from Bates College. After college he served as legislative aid to Senator Gerry Studds prior to segueing into modeling and commercials. This coupled with his successful foray into television helped him garner roles in such features as the Sundance hit Psycho Beach Party, CBS MOW Shattered Trust, and Showtime’s The Unspeakable.

Natalie Ramsey (Lacey Farmer)
Boston-native Natalie Ramsey co-starred in the television series, Party of Five followed by roles in Days of Our Lives, Boston Public and Seventh Heaven, which led up to her big break playing Jody Garrow in Get Real. She’s also held lead and supporting roles in movies including Pleasantville, The Other Sister, Children of the Corn 666 and most recently, Cruel Intentions III. Her acting credits also include theatre roles playing Laura in The Glass Menagerie and Edna in Waiting for Lefty at The University of Massachusetts, Amherst. All roles have prepared her for the lead on The N’s Beyond the Break. When not acting, Natalie enjoys surfing, swimming, snowboarding, and dancing.

Tiffany Hines (Birdie Scott)
Tiffany grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio with her parents and younger sister. She attended Seven Hills Upper School and then went on to major in Marketing at the University of Cincinnati. Tiffany is an avid dancer and has had lead roles in productions of Watership Down, Oliver, Annie and Crazy For You. Tiffany also studied Dance at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Dawn Meyer School of Dance and the Cincinnati Ballet Master Classes. Her achieved skill and transition from college theatre to TV and film was a very natural step for Tiffany.

Tiffany guest stars in the two-part season two finale of Grey’s Anatomy. On the big screen, her feature film credits include roles in A Week and a Year, Joy and Fear, Jump Jive and Swing and Paramount Pictures’ All Shook Up. Although her first love is acting, Tiffany still finds time to dance and sing when she’s not surfing.

Sonya Balmores (Kai Kealoha)
Sonya personifies girl-next-door sweetness and goodness. Beyond her natural beauty lies a very smart and funny young adult. Radiant, exotic, and confident, Sonya’s career has been skyrocketing due in part to back-to-back magazine cover shots in FOAM, OUTSIDE Magazine, and Women’s Health. Her television and theatre credits, include “Guys and Dolls” and the role of Nani in Fox Television/Imagine Entertainment’s pilot called The Break. Her training includes On Camera Scene Study with the Hawaiian Performing Arts Studio.

Sonya is the former Miss Teen Hawaii 2004 and she was the first runner up in Donald Trump’s Miss Teen USA. She’s been a model and actress for Jet Set Management Group, Inc. since she was 15 years old.

Suzie Pollard (Dawn Preston)
Suzanne Pollard grew up in Oshawa, Ontario Canada. She was drawn to the arts at an early age and began her journey as a figure skater. She has also trained in tap, jazz, and ballet. As her love of dance grew, so did her skill and she attended numerous dance competitions across the country bringing home awards, scholarships and the title “Miss International Photogenic.”

After graduating from high school, Suzie landed her first professional job dancing in the American Bowl’s halftime show for the Buffalo Bills and Green Bay Packers. Suzie’s next professional opportunity came when she landed a contract dancing onboard cruise ships. This exciting new venture had her traveling the world visiting four continents.

After Suzie’s return to Canada she grabbed her suitcase and headed to Hollywood. She was barely unpacked before she found herself hosting an MTV hidden camera show Burned, watching herself in nationally televised commercials and landing her first lead role in Hack.
