An Atlanta woman is suing music producer Jermaine Dupri over missed child support payments, reports Billboard.
After a judge recently ordered him to pay her, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Margaret Dorsey told the Grammy-winning producer in March to pay $2,500 a month and an additional $7,500 to Sarai Jones, based on the results of a paternity test.
Jones’ attorney, Randy Kessler, said Jones hopes that she and Dupri “can work together to co-parent their beautiful baby girl,” who is 7 months old.
Dupri’s lawyer, James Kane, declined to comment.
The lawsuit was filed at a time when Dupri is facing financial troubles. His mansion was up for foreclosure and set to be auctioned last week, but the sale was canceled at the last minute. WSB-TV obtained records from the Georgia Department of Revenue, saying that Dupri owes the state more than $493,000 in back taxes for 2007.
Based off his 2006 income, Forbes.com said Dupri was one of hip-hop’s top earners, taking home $12 million. Dupri has produced hits for artists including Usher and Mariah Carey, and had a seven-year relationship with Janet Jackson that ended a couple years ago.
Shame, must be rough for him. I don’t know where all his money went, but he better start gathering some pronto because this is no joke. If you don’t wear the glove, you have to deal with the consequences.
Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller have officially divorced, reports Perez Hilton.
After months and months of craziness and battles on both sides of this marriage, the couple have at last reached an agreement.
Here’s what’s been agreed upon:
Brooke will receive $55,000 each month in child support from her former husband. She’ll also receive a one-time payout of $757,698 and $1 million for her share in the home, which Sheen will end up keeping.
Plus, in the legal documents it indicated that child support for their twins, Bob and Max, will not be less than what he paid to his former wife Denise Richards for his daughters, Sam and Lola.
This is hard blow to Sheen, who recently was denied full custody to the children.
I think this payout is fair, though. Sheen can afford it, and Mueller deserves it after putting up with his crazy antics (not to say she’s perfect.) Do you think Sheen will ever find love again? I don’t know if his goddesses count as true love, but maybe he will take to the alter with one of them. Only time will tell.
The bad economy is hitting everyone, including Nas. Luckily for him a Judge has taken sympathy on his apparent financial problems.
TMZ is reporting Nas has had his child support cut to just over $5,000 a month, and his spousal support payments are now $20,000. Still sounds like a lot of money but apparently he was previously paying twice that.
We guess……good work Nas??????
The balance of the universe was shattered late last week as Michael Lohan revealed that he was in some legal troubles – this time with a random woman from Montana.
Pop Eater reports that an arrest warrant has been issued for Lohan in New York State after it was discoved that he owes money in a Montana paternity suit.
When reached for a quote, Lohan said “I was on parole, and was not allowed to leave New York. So the judge in Motana held me in default, and ordered me to pay child support. I asked for three patermity tests, and even Maury Povich asked her to do one with me, but she refused all three.”
Oh snap! You know you’re in trouble when not even Maury Povich can contain the situation!
Lohan begrudgingly began to pay child support to avoid more legal trouble, but had some issues after sending the second payment late. “[The payment was late] because of election day,” He explains. “But I did send it, and I have receipts. So because I was a couple of days late, they issued a warrant. How sick.”
Hmm, this doesn’t sound like the whole story Mr. Lohan… Since when do you have enough cash in the bank to start paying off random alleged babymamas that refuse to take a paternity test? Sounds suspicious to us!
Oksana Grigorieva is right; it’s a real outrage when you’re only getting $5,000 a month in child support. I mean, with inflation and everything, that kind of cash is chump change, right?
Right! According to TMZ, a judge issued an order Thursday afternoon that increases the child support payments that Mel Gibson makes to Oksana from $5,000 a month to $20,000 a month.
Now she’ll be able to provide their child, Lucia, with everything she needs—like those super pimp gold grills that little kids are wearing these days. Just the necessities!
If Oksana had gotten what she thought she needed, Lucia could have even had diamonds put into her grills. TMZ says that Oksana’s lawyers were hoping for $60,000 a month.
Oksana Grigorieva and Mel Gibson signed an agreement in May and the document basically gives Oksana and Lucia, the child they share, with a crazy amount of money. All Oksana had to do in return was destroy the tapes.
TMZ got hold of the document which states, that Oksana must “turn over all ‘evidence’, and represent and warrant that all evidence has been turned over and all evidence will be destroyed in a manner agreed upon by both parties.”
The document goes on to describe the so called evidence as all “recordings, audio tapes, emails, text messages, videotapes and photographs … of Gibson.”
Now, Mel seems to think that his reputation is worth a lot of money—around $15 million.
The document gives Oksana $1 million when she turns over the evidence, $10,000 a month for 18 years, and a $1 million life insurance policy on Gibson among other things.
Now, you’re probably saying to yourself, “with these two people, the agreement can’t be that simple, can it?” You’re right, it can’t! Despite signing the first version of the document, when it came time to write her name on the final version of it, Oksana declined, claiming that she was unaware that it would give Gibson unsupervised visits with Lucia.
It’s not bad news for the kid, though. In the document that was signed, Lucia would get $50,000 per year for 20 years, $10,000 a year for 20 years for college expenses, $4,000 per month in child support for 18 years and a whopping $4.3 mil when Gibson passes away.
At this rate, Oksana won’t have to split up from a millionaire actor and start a huge legal battle for another two decades!
TMZ is reporting that Mel Gibson’s latest baby mama, Oksana Grigorieva, is unhappy with the quality of her legal counsel. Oksana is holding several legal meetings in Beverly Hills this week, including one this morning with Neal Hersh of Hersh, Mannis & Bogen.
Oksana’s current firm is battling the courts to get her $40,000 a month in child support from the Braveheart star, a huge boost from her current $5k monthly settlement.
Keep in mind that those numbers are for one baby. That’s barely comparable to the $2,500 cheque she’s receiving monthly for Alexander, her preteened son from a previous marriage. Little Lucia sure is high maintenance!
Neal Hersh may be a good choice for Oksana. Some of his past clients include Pamela Anderson and Denise Richards, both of whom are socially aware ladies with endless amounts of class and grace. Right?
…Okay, well, at least they’ve got money in the bank.
Granted, Oksana is a little nutso, but Mel Gibson isn’t exactly the nicest guy in the world. So if we have to pick the lesser of two evils, we’re pulling for team Grigorieva. After all, how bad can you be when you write delightful ballads for Josh Groban?
Hopefully this settlement gets resolved soon for the Lucia’s sake!
We reported last week that Michael Lohan wanted to appear on The Maury Povich Show in order to put to rest comments (what he says are rumours) made by a mother claiming that Lohan is the father to her child.
Kristi Kaufmann has accused Michael Lohan of being the father to her teenage girl and stiffing her on child support payments for her entire life, but doesn’t seem to want the truth to come out—or at least not on Maury.
RadarOnline talked with Lohan about the whole thing and he was pretty clear about how annoyed he is about the whole thing.
“For the third time, Kristi has declined,” he said. “Tell me, if Kristi is so sure, and she even had the nerve to change Ashley’s birth certificate to my last name, why won’t she take the test?”
“We are going to reopen the case,” Lohan continued. “And demand a paternity test. What nerve this three-times scorned con woman has to have her daughter claim she is my daughter, without any proof and not wanting to find out the truth for herself.”
No word yet whether or not Lohan will demand that the paternity test be a segment for Maury.
In the battle between Oksana Grigorieva and Mel Gibson, it’s hard to say who is winning. The latest from the war-torn negotiations has to do with child support payments.
Things sure have changed from when we reported that Oksana wanted $6,000 a month, just a couple of weeks back. TMZ reports that Mel is currently sending Oksana $5,000 a month for child support, but she wants even more now.
Oksana thinks that she should be getting $40,000 a month to take care of baby Lucia, but unfortunately for her, the court knows that she’s already receiving just $2,500 per month for another child, a 13-year-old boy, and getting by just fine.
Either Lucia is the world’s most expensive child, or Oksana is crazy.
The Mel Gibson vs. Oksana Grigorieva scandal gets better and better every week, so get out the popcorn! Usually when relationships and careers are crumbling, it isn’t nice to sit back and watch, but when it’s Mel and Oksana, it’s hard to look away.
The latest from the trenches courtroom is about Gibson’s child support payments.
RadarOnline reports that Gibson’s camp claims that his cash is limited to about $600,000 a month and only believes that Oksana should be receiving $6,000—exactly 1% of what he has—in support payments for taking care of their 9-month-old daughter Lucia.
Now, either Mel has a handful of other baby momma’s to support or it seems as though he’s trying to cut Oksana short, very short.
Oksana believes she should be receiving more, but unfortunately for her, Mel thinks that his $7.2 million a year is a necessity that he just can’t live without; he also claims that Oksana has some unnecessary expenses, like her bodyguards. A note to Oksan: Definitely hang on to the bodyguards.
Both teams seem to be pretty set in their ways right now, so it might be a good time for a bathroom break before you come back to the entertainment!
The custody battle is officially over between Jon and Kate Gosselin, and it is believed this new arrangement is in the best interest of the children.
TMZ reports that the couple have reached a settlement agreement, however the terms are sealed by the court. A source familiar with the situation says “An official agreement between Jon and Kate has been reached and they will be working together for the benefit of their children.”
In April Jon requested primary custody of the children and lessened child support obligations. However because of the confidential terms of the agreement, we aren’t sure the type of deal he was able to work out.
Kate Gosselin is one tough cookie when it comes to her kids and cash. Kate’s lawyer, Mark Momjian, tells TMZ that they are looking for Jon Gosselin to pay child support until all the kids are adults.
“She won’t let him off the hook for child support, no matter how much money Kate makes,” Momijian says. Although Kate is making hundreds of thousands on “Dancing with the Stars,” they still feel Jon should be responsible.
Momjian says, “He will have to contribute. It’s every parent’s responsibility.”
Looks like Beyonce’s Dad Matthew Knowles maybe a Daddy again.
TMZ is reporting that Alexsandra Wright claims to have had an 18 month affair with Matthew Knowles. She filed a paternity suit in October and gave birth February 4. Knowles has yet to take a paternity test nor has he paid any child support.
