Following a recent DUI, TNT basketball commentator Charles Barkley will be taking a leave of absence from his job.
On December 31, the NBA Hall of Famer was pulled over in Scottsdale, Ariz, at 1:27 a.m. after running a stop sign.
According to E News, Barkley added to his situation by informing the officers that he had been on his way to get oral sex—hence his haste—before he was stopped. The former power forward showed a blood-alcohol level of 0.140, nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent, according to the Gilbert Police Department.
“When I spoke with Charles, he was apologetic for the events that transpired and it was obvious he understood the significance of this situation,” Turner Sports president David Levy wrote in an email to Bloomberg.com.
