The estranged father of 19-year-old singer and actress Charice Pempengco was stabbed to death in his hometown in the Philippines. The teen star, who was dubbed “The Most Talented Girl in the World” by none other than Oprah, had to pull out of a concert in Singapore when she got the horrible news.
She tweeted: “I have to go back to the Philippines as soon as possible to be with my family. I hope you all understand. I love you all and I will see you next year.”
From what The Associated Press is reporting, Charice hasn’t seen her father, construction worker Ricky Pempengo, for many years. According to local police, Ricky was stabbed with an ice pick after getting in a fight with a drunk man on the street.
We can’t imagine what Charice is going through right now. We send our condolences to her and her family. Watch the last interview we did with Charice here.
Filipino singing sensation Charice has been cut from the next season of FOX’s Glee. This was confirmed by the show creator Ryan Murphy.
Apparently Glee will no longer feature celebrity guests, and there will be less singing moving forward (but isn’t that the appeal of the show?)
In an interview with Celebuzz, Charice said:
“It was a great experience. Especially when we did the season finale, because it was my birthday when we shot the finale episode. It was a great experience working with them – all the cast, the crew, everybody. I just miss them because they’re like family now,” Charice said.
Good luck to Charice. We think fondly of her, and we were extremely impressed when we spoke to her last year.

Charice has a bunch of notable accomplishments under her belt for someone that is only 18. She is the first Asian to land on the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 and many big league music players are saying she is the “next big thing.” David Foster is quoted as saying her voice is the most beautiful he has heard in a long time. He liked it so much that Foster produced Charice’s album. And how did Charice catch her big break? YouTube!
Because we can bet you’re already counting down to the next season of Glee, here’s a little update for you.
