Despite glorifying sexual pleasures in her music, Lady Gaga is living a celibate lifestyle and is encouraging her fans to follow her example, reports MTV News.

Gaga’s self-imposed sex ban is a result of her not having the time to get to know anybody.

“I can’t believe I’m saying this – don’t have sex,” Gaga said, while visiting England to promote MAC’s Viva Glam campaign.  The campaign supports global HIV and AIDS projects.

“So it’s OK not to have sex, it’s OK to get to know people,” Gaga said.  “I’m celibate, celibacy’s fine.”

Gaga’s other reason for promoting her celibacy message is because of the steady rise in the rate of HIV infection among women worldwide, while the overall rate among men has continued to decline.

“The rate of infection worldwide is higher than ever for women in our particular demographic,” Gaga said, referring to women aged 17-24 and 38-56.

Gaga also says, speaking to the fans, that if you are not ready for sex, don’t do it.

“And if you are ready, there are free condoms given away at my concerts when you’re leaving,” Gaga said.  “I remember the cool girls when I was growing up.  Everyone started to have sex.  But it’s not really cool anymore to have sex all the time.  It’s cooler to be strong and independent.”

Lenny Kravitz will be touring Canada in March, but he won’t be making any groupies happy: he’s given up sex!

In an interview with Maxim Magazine, Kravitz claims to have been celibate for the last three years, and plans to remain so until wed.

“[It's] just a promise I made until I get married. Where I’m at in life, the women have got to come with something else, not just the body, but the mind and spirit. It usually trips them out, but that’s the way it’s going to be. I’m looking at the big picture.”

Kravitz divorced actress Lisa Bonet in 1991. He is also rumoured to have at one time proposed to Nicole Kidman.

Kravitz’s new album will be released in February.
