The preliminary autopsy reports for Brittany Murphy’s husband have been released which say there was no drug involvement with his death.
Brittany’s mother Sharon Murphy released a statement saying “As I was sure of, just like my daughter Brittany, there was no kind of drug overdose [for Simon Monjack],” reports People.
The findings show that Monjack’s death was caused by acute pneumonia and severe anemia, the same as Murphy’s death, reports CNN.
“I am calling on the media to stop the reckless innuendos, that my daughter and son-in-law misused any kind of prescription medications,” Sharon told People.
Brittany Murphy’s widower Simon Monjack was found dead at his Los Angeles home Sunday evening. He was 40 years old.
PopEater reports that Monjack was found in the master bedroom by his mother-in-law Sharon. Sharon also lives at the home. The cause of death is being investigated.
“We have detectives at the scene,” Sgt. Louie Lozano told the Los Angeles Times. “They are conducting their investigation. Once we have further information, we will provide it.”
A 911 call was placed from the home at 9:46pm Sunday evening. Paramedics arrived at the home where Monjack was pronounced dead.
No illegal drugs were found in the house, according to Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter.
TMZ has learned that Brittany Murphy consumed hundreds of pills a month from January 2008 to August 2009.
Murphy apparently used an alias for her prescriptions (her name was Lola Manilow Murphy) at Eddie’s Pharmacy in Los Angeles for two years. The pharmacy refused to fill her prescriptions in August 2009, four months before her death. It is estimated that Murphy was using roughly 200 pills a month, and sometimes as many as 400.
Hollywood landmark or tragic scene?

The Los Angeles coroner revealed Brittany Murphy died of pneumonia, but prescription drugs did play a role in her death, reports CBC. The 32-year-old had anemia and multiple prescription drugs in her system at the time of her sudden death on Dec. 20, but pneumonia was the primary cause of death.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has revealed Brittany Murphy was under a doctor’s care shortly before her death, suffering from severe anemia and other conditions, reports TMZ. However, medical files provided by her doctor state her last visit was months before her Dec. 20 death.
A toxicology report determining what drugs were in Murphy’s system at the time of her death has not yet been completed.
After her death, investigators found numerous medications in Murphy’s home, some prescribed to her, some to her husband Simon Monjack, some to her mother Sharon Murphy, and others to third parties.
The Brittany Murphy drama is far from over. TMZ is reporting that Murphy’s husband, Simon Monjack, is suing Warner Bros. as he believes the studio is responsible for his wife’s death.
In an interview with The Daily Beast, Monjack explained that Murphy was devastated after losing a role in the sequel to “Happy Feet.” Monjack believes that this upset caused Brittany to have a heart attack.

Monjack said he and Sharon Murphy were both present Dec. 20 at the time of Brittany’s passing. “Sharon and I were holding each other and they let us know at the same time that she hadn’t made it.”
E! News is reporting Brittany Murphy’s death certificate has been released by the Los Angeles Coroner, listing her cause of death as “deferred”, pending the results of the toxicology report.
