Brittany Murphy Breaks Off Engagement

Actress Brittany Murphy and her fiancé, Joe Macaluso, have ended their engagement after almost nine months.

A spokesperson for Murphy confirmed the split, according to People magazine.

“They remain close friends and wish each other much happiness,” said the representative.

During the Teen Choice Awards last weekend, Murphy was spotted without her engagement ring. When asked about her planned marriage, she initially skirted the question before replying, “”Everything is going wonderful, thank you. I’m just living every moment, you know, enjoying my day.”

The couple first met when Murphy was filming “Little Black Book.” Macaluso was working on the film as a best boy grip, making him in-charge of lighting and electricity. After shooting wrapped, Murphy asked Macaluso to the movies.

They became engaged this past New Year’s Eve.

“It felt right,” said Murphy in January. “I love being in love.”

Brittany Murphy to Voice Tinker Bell

Peter Pan’s feisty fairy sidekick has finally found her voice.

Walt Disney Co. announced on Tuesday that actress Brittany Murphy will be their first-ever voice for Tinker Bell, reports Reuters. Until now, the winged sprite communicated only through facial expressions and gestures in Disney cartoons.

Tinker Bell is set to return in a direct-to-video release next year. The movie will be part of Disney’s new “Fairies” product line.

“How could one possibly say no to Disney and being the voice of Tinker Bell?” the 28-year-old actress told Reuters. “I thought maybe I’m too spunky or gritty, but that’s who Tinker Bell is.”

Murphy’s spunk and grit have been previously featured in films like “8 Mile,” and as the voice of Luanne on TV’s “King of the Hill.”

Brittany Murphy Fired by Agent

Actress Brittany Murphy was fired by her agent and manager, sources confirmed Wednesday.

Her agent was ICM?s Jeff Berg and her manager was Brillstein-Grey?s Joanne Colonna.

Called for comment, a staffer at Colonna?s office confirmed that Murphy is no longer a client, saying, “We wish her much love and success in her new endeavor,” Radar Magazine.com reports.

Murphy, who has recently been booked as the new face for Jordache Jeans was let go because of personal reasons, a friend said.

Berg did not return phone calls to the magazine, nor did Murphy?s remaining handler, BWR publicist Holly Shakoor.
