Lady Gaga-Inspired Scarecrow Works Like a Charm

Who knew the birds were so scared of Gaga?

British farmer Nigel Britten recently created a seven-foot scarecrow inspired by Lady Gaga’s Marie Antoinette-esque BRIT Awards outfit last week after getting fed-up with pigeons eating his wheat fields, CHARTattack.com reports.

“We put her up last week and she’s had a remarkable effect,” Britten told the Daily Mirror. “The birds must be terrified of her because they have stayed away.”

“I know it’s not a traditional scarecrow, but I suppose we have to move with the times,” he added. “I don’t know whether it’s the dress or the hair, but the birds daren’t approach the field anymore.”

It appears that most people are not scared of Gaga, however, because her debut album The Fame has officially been certified platinum. This is a huge accomplishment in the age of free music downloading, because it means the CD has sold 10 million copies.

Jay-Z’s BRIT Bash Reportedly Refused White People

Mega-rap star Jay-Z may be in some hot water – in London, England. Perez Hilton.com reported that the 40-year-old rapper’s security would not allow white people in the VIP area at his BRIT awards after party.

The long-time rapper won a BRIT for Best International Male Solo; he and the Mrs. (Beyonce Knowles) threw a bash at Merah nightclub. Apparently while African American guests were let through the VIP entrance no problem, white people didn’t find it that easy.

Britain Daily Star Music Reporter Kim Dawson was among guests who tried to enter the VIP area but got denied, and was less than happy about it.

“I’ve been to countless showbiz bashes but never have I met meatheads like those at the Jay-Z do (party). Jay-Z is a megastar and yet it was clear white people were not welcome in his VIP area. While the red rope was lifted for black guests to breeze through, let’s just say it stayed down if your face didn’t fit. I have never felt so intimidated. It left me feeling like a mauled dog,” she said.

Jay-Z’s reps claim that the club hired the security not allowing admittance. Of course, club Merah’s owners claim they had no idea there was an issue. I guess we’ll never know. But it is clear that Jay-Z has had loads of success in his lifetime.

The rapper has released a total of 11 studio albums in his music career and has accepted 10 Grammys for his musical success. Not only a successful rapper, Jay-Z is a businessman; he owns The 40/40 Club, and NBA’s New Jersey Nets, he also is the creator of clothing line Rocawear and is the former CEO of Def Jam Recordings. He is one of three founders of Roc-A-Fella Records and is the founder of Roc Nation.

James Blunt, Kaiser Chiefs Lead Brit Award Nominations

Nominations for the Brit Awards were announced Tuesday, with breakthrough acts James Blunt and Kaiser Chiefs leading the field with five nods apiece.

The British music industry?s big night of the year will be held Feb. 15 at London?s Earl?s Court, reports Billboard.

Singer/songwriter Blunt is nominated for British male solo artist, British breakthrough act and pop act. His debut album, “Back to Bedlam,” is in the running for the British album award, while the hit single “You’re Beautiful” is up for the British single trophy.

Alternative rock act Kaiser Chiefs, who performed several songs at the nominations announcement in London, received nods for British group, breakthrough act, rock act and live act. Their first album, “Employment,” is also in the running for the British album award.

Coldplay was close behind with four nominations, including British group and British album for their chart-topping hit “X&Y.”

Madonna, the Arcade Fire and K.T. Tunstall are among the other U.K. and international acts to receive multiple nominations.

Robbie Williams received one nod in the British male category and could extend his record total of 15 Brit Awards.

The first performers confirmed for the event are Coldplay, Kaiser Chiefs, Blunt, Tunstall, Kanye West and Kelly Clarkson. Joining them will be Paul Weller, already announced as the recipient of the outstanding contribution to music award.
